I had business in Johnsonburg on Tuesday & decided to go a day early to view the eclipse over the border in NY. Looked at hotels in Bradford & their prices jumped to $360 for the eclipse. Royal Inn was suggested by a friend and I booked at the normal rate. For an older motel, it is clean, quiet and convenient. Despite the bad bed reviews, my bed was fine, firm and comfy. Unfortunately the restaurant is closed Monday nights so I did not get a chance to try it out. I highly recommend the Royal Inn for a reasonably priced room at a place that does not gouge the customers for a nearby celestial event. The Inn is what it is, not modern and new, rather it is quaint and retro. It was nice to support a local business rather than a chain too. I passed up the continental breakfast in the lobby for a great breakfast in Ridgway just down the mountain. If you are in the Ridgway area for the night, stay at the Royal Inn!

Great deal & did not gouge Eclipse viewers.

Family of 4 (2 young boys) stayed here during a weekend getaway to the area. Close enough to many attractions-main one being the Chainsaw Rendezvous-yet a little outside the ‘downtown’ area. Typical motel feel, a little outdated, but it was clean, affordable, and comfortable enough for a 2-night stay. We were in the back area, ground level, so we could park right outside our door.  There is a restaurant inside, but we didn’t get to eat there-it was very crowded every evening though, so must be good!  Should we venture back to that area, we’d stay again!

Quiet and comfortable place to stay

Has it ever happened to you to enter in a room and be completely absorbed by the atmosphere like you are sent in a different place?
This hotel gives you the sensation to get back into the '60, the ambient is very well cared, Elvis makes his presence to be felt by everybody even if it takes a moment to realize he is there.
Feelings aside.
Clean rooms, gentle crew and whatever I have written here above, makes this place something unique.
I recommend it to all travellers.

Nice environment, interesting atmosphere

Clean and big rooms. Bathrooms were also clean. Very simpel motel. Breakfast was only muffin with Coffee. Coffee was very good! For one night when passing through it was great value for the money. Would recommend it. 

Clean and big room

I was vending at a festival nearby and booked a room here.  The staff is very friendly, and a Mexican restaurant with great food is right next door.  The tub did not drain well, but that can be remedied, and the continental breakfast could be better, but it is close to many restaurants, a grocery store and convenience stores.  I had a good sleep, and will book again when I come to this town.

Clean, comfortable, convenient

We like to stay at local hotels rather than chains.  We tried.  So many things went wrong with our stay.  

It started with a room that was 67 degrees.  I was informed that the heat is not turned on at the hotel because it has not been needed.  They handed us a heater (whose fan didn't work, we were afraid of setting the room on fire).  The did subsequently turn on the heat, I'll give them that.

Then the TV didn't work.  It tool 3 men about 30 minutes to fix it.  The owner felt so bad he offered to comp us the room (100%).  I said how about a 50% discount and he happily agreed.  I appreciated that the owner admitted that we had not had an ideal stay at this point but I didn't think the things that went wrong should warrant a 100% comp.

The room itself was not very nice.  It had a folded up bed up against the wall.  The comforter and blankets were nasty and not allowed to touch my skin, but the linens looked clean.  The bathroom was tiny as was the shower.  I did not see a hairdryer

I would not be writing this report except the morning we were getting ready to leave.  I found a roach on the floor, a live one.  I used a tissue and put it in a coffee cup and wanted to alert the owner that he had a problem.  Unfortunately I didn't see the owner but I guess the housekeeper.  I told her about the roach and pointed to the cup and said he is in here and alive so be careful.  What was her reply?  With a deadpan expression her only comment was "where did you find it?" 

We ate at the restaurant the night before (the roach).  It was pretty good.  My chicken wrap was delicious but my husband's pizza wasn't very good.

I am so sorry I listened to the positive reviews.

My wife and I had a very pleasant stop over at the Royal Inn while travelling north.  The room was clean and tidy and the food in the pub bar was fantastic.

I had a really good nights sleep as well.

A very good visit indeed.
