My daughter and I stayed here during a softball tournament. It is close to the fields and a convenient drive. It is right on the side of an access road so lots of wanderers walking through the property; but harmless. We felt safe during our stay. The staff was super nice and accommodating. The room was musty but I expected that and a little air freshener went a long way. The rooms have been remodeled; no carpet - which I appreciate. No sign of bugs or other critters. The pool was closed and does not look to be reopened any time soon. Breakfast consists of a piece of fruit and water. There is a mix of sketchy areas and nicer areas between the hotel and the fields in Columbus but overall decent for the price and I've seen much worse. I would stay again for the convenience and price.

Remodeled; decent for a roadside motel

The hotel rooms are super nice and the beds are so comfortable…The staff is excellent…They have coffee and breakfast available which is very convenient…This was our third time staying there and will be returning again in a month…

Super Nice Hotel

I stayed in Rodeway Inn in Phenix City, AL for three nights while plumbing in my home was being repaired.  The management and other staff were friendly and accommodating.  The rooms were clean.  I felt safe there.  It was quiet and I rested well.

My Stay at Roadway

After a string of bad experiences with poorly maintained hotels, we saw that the Rodeway, which had previously abysmal reviews, was under new management.  Needing a simple, clean place to stay one night while in the Columbus area we decided to give it a try.  It's a pleasure to say that the new owners were amazingly friendly and currently renovating and updating the motel.  Our room was spotless and our hosts attentive.  We really appreciated the efforts they are putting into it and recommend you give them a try, even while they are still in the middle of renovations.  Ignore the older bad reviews as they don't apply any longer.

New, clean and friendly

$50 should have clued me into what to expect but I stayed anyway. 
The app made it look a whole lot better than it is. The app says it has a coffee maker and it does, but no coffee to put in it. It doesn’t matter though because the maker doesn’t work anyway. No hair dryer, no ironing board or ice bucket. There is a plastic bag for the bucket and some coffee cups. I think I’ll stay someplace else next time. 

Not a nice place

I rented a room for my special needs daughter because we had to leave out mobile home sure to severe weather. I paid $56 for a non smoking room. It's had double beds. As soon as we walked in  I noticed the air was very moldy and smelled like years of nicotine. I noticed the bedspreads were very dark colored and old looking. I pulled the covers back and the sheets were very thin. So I decided to make sure the matress pad was clean. IT WAS STAINED WITH BLACK SPECKS, BLOOD AND OTHER FLUID LIKE SPOTS. SO I pulled the pad off and it was so horribly stained and nasty looking.  The microwave was coved in black looking rist inside. The bathtub and shower filthy and scummy all over. Even the main door was filthy stained with dirt hand buildup. I showed the lady who worked there all of it. She told me that the stains were old and that I should keep the clean sheets on the bed and it will be fine. I asked for a refund and she said the manager or owner said no refund. I spent $56 which was all the money I had. I could not leave because the weather forecast had our county under severe tornado watch. I had no money to go to another motel and could not take my daughter out for safetys sake.  I took many pictures of that filthy room and will decide what will happen after my attorney contacts me concerning how to get justice from this distressing experience. Please if anyone is thinking about getting a motel room, LOOK UNDER THE SHEETS FIRST, especially if you have children with you.

Unbelievebly FILTHY!!! ROADWAY INN PHENIX CITY ALABAMA

Wonderful hotel. The roadway inn offers many wonderful assets. There’s rooms for smoking and nonsmoking to accommodate your specific needs. One smells like Asbestos and the other stale cigarette smoke. The carpet is damp and the light fixtures stained. If you are lucky you may find unused condoms in your room. If you’re unlucky you might get AIDs from a dirty needle in your bed sheets. The staff wakes up bright and early to cook a complimentary breakfast and pound your door down so you checkout on time. They yell at you in a foreign language until you open the door. Good morning to you too Sahad. I also found there is wonderful fishing in the hotel pool. Lake trout feed off of the algae growing between the cracked cement. If you enjoy fishing, foreign culture and Free breakfast, you’ve found the hotel of your dreams - T dawgMN9~~~~507More

Never again

The room was filthy!  Extreme over use of room deodorizer led to respiratory issues for my husband and I both.  We have been sick for 3 days since sleeping in this and mold in our room.  The coffee pot was so filthy I would not have used it--if there had been any coffee to go in it.  There was a large stain on the bottom sheet of one of the beds.  The hair dryer was a wall mounted unit that fell off the wall, did not work when plugged in and was filthy!  The bathroom door had holes knocked in it.  The bath tub had not been cleaned.  The bathroom floor behind the door had not been moped since the 1970s--it too was filthy.  Mold was around the bathtub and the bathroom ceiling was solid mold.  

I have pictures to prove all of this!  The price was doubled because of the GA State Competition Cheerleaders' State finals were 4 miles away in Columbus, GA.  Never stay here!!!

Nightmare at Rodeway Inn in Phenix, AL!

This was the worst of all the motels we had stayed at in America.  I cannot believe seeing hundreds or thousands of roaches in one night.  The place should not be operating at all due to the roach infestations.  The room was so stinky.  It looked like a crime scene with gun shots on the walls, holes been patched up and not painted.  The walls had stains that looked like blood stains that had dried up on the carpet.  The room was just a nightmare, full of dust, full of roaches and full of dirt.  Could not switch to any other hotel or motel that night due to the unavailability and it was almost midnight.  The front desk staff who was indian was not friendly nor nice at all.  They kept on talking in their native language in front of us, seemed to be very very rude.

Room was filthy. Desk clerk am and pm incredibly rude. Lady who recovered some clothes I left amazingly wonderful. Men were terrible and threatening. That was WITH a reservation. I've stayed in a great Rodeway. This one was smokey and dirty and awful.
