The owner has CATS with free range of everything - including any guest room left open. One cat jumped up on my chair at the breakfast table to sniff my food. The owner is exceptionally rude. She immediately demanded CASH up front upon arrival, even though it says online and in the reservation she accepts VISA. Instead of taking my credit card, she insisted I go to the gas station down the road and use their ATM. Yes, really, she refused my card.  For me, it was VISA or nothing, because she was not offering any receipts. Totally unwelcoming.  Breakfast? It's downstairs at 8 am sharp or no food. Fruit and bread only, some stale. That's barely "continental" and not a full breakfast as described. The bathroom was shared with the owner and other guests, and was not clean. The bath mats had not been cleaned in some time and I didn't like standing on them barefoot. Parking? There is no parking provided. It is on-street parking on a small street, if you can get it. Location? The neighborhood is run down. As a single woman I did not feel safe outside. I don't like to ding someone unnecessarily, but this place warrants a major warning to future travelers. I booked this place at the last minute, and did not read the fine print. Big lesson learned. If I could have gotten a refund, I would have left within the first ten minutes of arriving. AVOID this place.

Avoid!!! Worst place I have ever stayed. Cats!! Owner Demanded Cash up front. Rude.

Characterful old house set in a quiet side street that is somewhat untidy and looks uncared for with overgrown gardens and rundown properties and sidewalks. By no means worst in the street the house was fairly quaint. Room on first floor had a large bed that was very comfortable and breakfast taken in downstairs room at a round table with other guests and the owner was very good. Good choice of cereal, bread and fruit with good coffee too. The owner is a fascinating lady with wide knowledge of local area, history and the arts and was lovely to talk to. Unfortunately we did not think that some things were acceptable in a B&B. There was no closure on bedroom door that could be used from outside so door was ajar when out. This allowed one of the 3 cats in the house to be sitting on the bed when we returned. Cars were also allowed on the dining table when not set for breakfast but also came around the table during meal. Bathroom was a shared facility on landing but again no door closure other tha hook and eye which did not pull door fully closed. The shower however was excellent. Both bedroom and bathroom were dirty in areas such as room corners and around bed. Felt we were intruding into owners personal space at all times even when in our room. Would not stay here again.

Old house not updated to meet modern basic standards of a B&B

The neighborhood was not well-maintained; unkept lawns and buildings not in good shape. Our room was on the third floor. It was warm in the room but the ceiling fan was so poorly balanced we were afraid it would come crashing down.  The room smelt of cat pee! The cushion on the chair at the table is badly stained--not sure if the cats could be blamed for that. Toilet seats are not secure. We prayed there would not be a fire because of being on the 3rd floor with no fire escape. We did not know we were to share a bathroom either. Flat screen TV was purhaps 15 inches.

Not up to B&B standards we're used to.

The stairs are a little steep, but this quaint house makes a refreshing change from the standard hotel room.  The breakfast is good, although 8:00 AM is THE serving time. The rooms are clean, and well appointed. The cats are very friendly. Public transportation in the form of both buses and Regional Rail is just a few blocks away.

2-night stay in quiet B&B in a pleasant neighborhood.

Ok....so this was quite the experience.

For someone who likes it clean, plain and simple - do not stay here. 
I'm not the person who expects an aseptic kind of cleanliness really, i like a rustic place and don't mind a little dust here and there.
But this. The entire house smelled somehow musty (partly cat litter, partly i don't wanna know what). Our room was too crammed with stuff to be kept clean and i swear there were small pieces of skin on my bedside table!
The bathroom was not clean either, with lots of other people's hairs on the floor...

Then there's the cats. Don't get me wrong, I adore cats and for me they weren't a problem. However, I think it should be possible to keep them out of the guests rooms. Moreover, for people with allergies, it should be very clear in the B&B's description that there are cats.

The neighbourhood and house itself were charming and the very talkative as well as overly helpful owner Marnie was rather friendly and welcoming.

I'm actually a fan of B&B's...but this one was not for me.

NOT clean at all, the cats were cute though

This B and B is a hidden gem, located on a quiet bricked street in Germantown only a short ride to downtown Philadelphia. Charming decor, comfortable beds and very quiet. Also very clean.All amenities were apparent, I did not have to ask for anything. Breakfast was great and healthy,fresh local fruits and a host of other choices. And speaking of host, the owner was very welcoming and friendly and we chatted over breakfast. I will stay here again when I next visit Philadelphia.

Wonderful

Burbridge B&B was amazing! This quaint, comfortable B&B is tucked away in a cool area called Germaintown. Miss Marney, the owner, was "Super Kool".  She greeted and chatted with all the customers.  The room was inviting and charming! 

Customer Service was amazing! I plan to go back in 2019!

I highly recommend this lodging experience!

New Year's Eve B&B Jewel!!

This B&B was the perfect home away from home. I stayed in the Octagon room with a very comfortable, giant bed. The rooms had everything you need, as does the shared bathroom. Imagine staying at your very gracious aunt’s house who also makes your bed for you!
I loved the cats! They’re friendly and happy to be cuddled.
Breakfast was healthy, filling, and with wonderful company. Marney is a great resource for all things Philly. 
Room tip: Marney, the innkeeper, will acomódate to you as long as you tell her your plans ahead of time! Please be respectful of her time and place. Believe me, it’s worth it.

Feels like Home

Arriving in the evening the neighborhood looked a bit rundown and dicey. We checked in to find  the room had a layer of dust on everything.  The bed was soft and lower in the center which was not good for my back. Overall not charming or cozy for sleeping quarters.  We enjoyed Marny's company for breakfast and we had a great time with her. The breakfast had fresh fruit, excellent coffee , cereal and a variety of breads.  The shared bathroom was clean and adequate.

A Little Disappointed

You drive up to cobblestone street and walk up to an amazing classic Philly house.  You turn the 100 year old door knob and meet the ever so sweet Marny!  The Mayor of the City of Philadelphia should give her the key to the city, on her unwavering devotion to the history and culture of Philly.  The Parlor room was a delight to stay in.  She offers a very healthy breakfast and it a pleasure to hear her stories.  The price was perfect!  Here is the best part: CATS!! Franklin stole my HEART!!! I wanted to cuddle with Princess Portia and the mystic of Cleopatra is amazing.  I look forward to coming back and staying at Burbridge Street B&B!
