Dated rooms. Staff is friendly price is right and they have a nice continental breakfast with lots of choices.  Will be back!  Places to eat within walking distance.   Snowmobile route to the hotel.   

Nice rooms good price

The room was very clean and I felt comfortable with all of the utilities. The staff was incredibly friendly. I would definitely come here again, it was overall a great experience. I would definitely come back.

I enjoyed sitting outside and drinking my morning coffee while taking in the beautiful view of the lake across the highway. Even when it rained we were able to enjoy the lake view from inside our room.

This hotel could be a gem…it’s across from the lake, has a lot of “yard”…but it’s run-down, tired, and gross.
-Our door stuck shut
-The shower was moldy, the walls were moldy in the bathroom, even the shower head was moldy
-The water in the shower didn’t stay a consistent temperature
-The faucet on the sink was near impossible to turn
-Only two mismatched lightbulbs in the sink area (there was space for more)
-Ceiling lights burned out
-The lamps are old old old
-The chair was stained 
-The pillows were flat
-The TV didn’t work and the remote didn’t go with it 
-The AC didn’t work
-The patio door was difficult to open
-The screen door was filled with holes (and let every mosquito in)
-The outdoor stairwell and parking were dimly lit—huge safety concern
-Detached hotel lobby reaked of cigarette smoke

Stay elsewhere

Stayed a weekend and not sure we would again. Tiny bathroom.  Nice patio out the back but you can hardly get the door open. You need both hands and give it a few pulls.. doesn't slide at all.. Screen door ready to fall off the track. Only way to lock it was with a rod between the door and wall. In our friend's room the air conditioner rattled so badly  that they couldn't hear themselves talk. 
But it appeared clean for the most part.

Needs improvements

My fishing buddy and I have been coming up to Phillips for the last twenty years and almost year we stayed at the Timber Inn. We always enjoyed the rust atmosphere and simple clean rooms. Our last trip in September of 2018 we were very dissatisfied the lobby was dark and dingy and when we went to get the continental breakfast the choices were greatly reduced and not displayed in an appetizing way. We skipped it. The rooms were getting dingy looking as well the frig didn't work either. We left what we felt was an old friend with the knowledge we would not be back

Not what it used to be.

We were given One price when we made the reservations when we went to check out the bill was higher. I asked the lady at the desk why my bill was higher than the price we were quoted she said the owner increase the price $10 each night over the weekend. I said that is not right or the amount I was quoted I was not paying the extra 20 some dollars. She removed it from my bill. She did charge my daughter-in-law the $10 extra a night. I spoke with the owner after his mother who works at the hotel told me I needed to get my facts straight about the prices before I talk to her. Which my facts were straight she was overcharged $22. The owner proceeded to tell me he was not refunding the money that his mother was not correct it was for tax. I said the price we were quoted was $105 with tax he flat out said I'm not refunding the money. He also was very rude to me I told him that we were going to another motel from now on in the future and he hung up the phone on me. I will never be coming back to this hotel which had our business for years. And yes it does need to be updated paint is all over cracks I don't believe that they clean sometimes the room is dirty. If you're looking for a mediocre Hotel this is it otherwise at this time Super 8 down the road is the same price because the timber in increase their prices to meet the same price as the Super 8 we will be going to the Super 8

Jacking up the price after reservation made

Room was not was shown in picture.  Dirty room. Dusty, leftover starbucks bottle on floor.  Could not get tv to work. Toliet too low. Very run down. Noisy people. Weird noises all night. Would not stay again.

Review

Previous owners ran and kept up the place well. They retired and it's gone
downhill since. Room colors are odd and it's in general disrepair. It used to be
nicer and cleaner as well. It's a cheap motel but really not that cheap considering! 
I'd not bother to stay again. Owners need some social skills as well. Barely spoke. 
Use VRBO and just find a cottage in the area instead. You will enjoy Phillips more.

Strange room colors and in need of repairs.

I booked a room on a travel site and erroneously the date for the room I booked was on the wrong date, my mistake. I called the Timber to let them know that I erroneously booked a room on the wrong date and I told them the correct date that I was coming. Here is where the nightmare begins. You would think customer service is top priority. NOT HERE. When the woman answered the phone I could barely hear her and understand her, plus her phone was cutting out and it sounded like she was talking from across the room into a speaker phone. I felt bad having to tell her "pardon, can you repeat that please". She was very rude and scolded me throughout the call for my mistake which I fully admitted to her that I was sorry for. Then about a min into the call she started speaking so loudly in the phone that I had a more difficult time understanding her. She charged me for the room yesterday (which was the erroneous booking date) and told me this Saturday that I can have the same room at no cost since I already paid (Im fine with that, thank you). I asked for a guarantee on that in an email, she got very upset at this and hung the phone up on me. I am now unsure if I will have a room for myself and family coming up, plus I might be out $72. Again my booking error on a website, but you would think to accommodate all you can to assure the customer piece of mind, not here. I used to go here yearly since I was a kid, well the last 2 years have been terrible since new management took over. PLEASE SEEK ANOTHER LODGING OPTION, I WARN YOU, SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS! More to come once I hopefully stay here......
