We are staying in the Maple cabin. It's not glamorous, but recently updated. The bed is comfy and the view of the lake is nice. We had planned to rent one of their boats, but it was too windy.

If you plan on cooking, bring paper towels and any foil or wrap you'll need. There are lots of pans, but none for baking.

The room is nice being separated by the bedroom door. Nice cozy room, love the small kitchen that has everything we needed and the staff is wonderful and accommodating, the view and access to the lake and fishing and having our dog with us as well. a screen door would have been nice. the boats were clean and fishing was good. the A/C is a plus. we will be back!

Y husband & I stayed here July 11-15. 2021 . Before I went I had read some not so nice reviews so I called Mr.Chuck & asked him about the beds. He assured me they were brand new and it was. The only issue was flat pillows & the bathroom shower needs a new faucet. But all in all we had a great time.😊

Good time.

It's a small place, not fancy.  A little tricky to find. No one in the office, checkin was a key taped to a note asking us to call and pay.   Called and was asked to call back the next day, as he was on his way to a birthday party.  Room was fine, clean and things looked okay.  There was a big step up to the bathroom - could be a hazard in the dark.  We put a chair in front of it just in case.  We didn't use the kitchen or shower, because we checked out early.  Nothing else matters when the bed is so bad you can't sleep.  It didn't just dip in the middle, it was V shaped and hard and lumpy.  Hubby tried to sleep in the chair, but it didn't recline.  Planned to spend the weekend.  After one night when neither of us slept, I was up at 4 am looking online for another hotel to move to.  Packed up and left when the sun came up.   Called the next day to tell them we had left and why.  Left a message, as no one answered the phone.  Said to call and we would pay for the one night; but, didn't expect to be charged for the second.  They never called for my credit card info.  Assumed they'd decided not to charge us.  They must have gone back through booking.com and got my info, as we now see two night's charges on the card.  I will object to my credit card company.  I've traveled a lot for work, probably slept in hundreds of hotel rooms.  This was the worst bed I ever tried to sleep in.

Would give the bed 0 starts if I could

Sept 2020 the lake was VERY low.  They would only rent to experienced boaters.  We rented a pontoon for a standard 3 hour block of time.  The boat was good, sturdy but a bit small ... but so was the lake.  We got around, did some fishing, enjoyed the scenery.  The owner and assistant were friendly and helpful.  We stayed nearby and walked over.

Boat Rental

The room was just barely adequate - borderline dump.  Old, run down, ZERO frills.  Privacy is non-existant.  There was a huge family that was taking up most of the rooms while we were there, fortunately, they were super nice and respectful.  As others have mentioned, no sign of anyone at the office.  The only interaction we had with any of the staff was when we were yelled at about our dog (which we paid extra for).  All that said, we had a good time because of the lake and Pinetop-Lakeside in general.

Would be 1 star without the lake

First I'll start off by saying we had a nice time as a family. Secondly I'm just going to be honest about a few things. Nobody is in the office 99% of the time. There's really no "check in" our key and map to the place was in a box. Owners just come and go as they please. Not as private as we would have liked and also thought it was a bigger place from the looks of the pictures but it wasn't. You might be by the lake but there is no access to it from the resort unless you rent a boat. We stayed in the ponderosa cabin yes we all survived and made do but I have to be honest. There was absolutely no room in the kitchen to prepare meals. No cabinets, no drawers, no paper towels and not even a supply of coffee!!! I can't believe they would make their guests drive to the store for coffee when we're paying $140 a night! All the dishes were on a shelf and all silverware was just sitting on the top of the fridge in a silverware dish that wasn't even clean. Bathroom was very awkward. It was downstairs away from the bedrooms. So you had to step down creaky stairs to get to it. Very small and no bar soap was supplied either. All in all we had a good time as we didn't spend it all at the resort. But can't say we'd come back maybe if we rented the bigger cabin? Liked the play area in front for the kids. And the fire pits.

Wasn't really what we expected

Wow, I was totally impressed. Much nicer than I expected. Everything was supplied, all we needed to bring was our food. Chuck and crew were great. Fishing was excellent 2pound bass off the dock. Definitely going again.

We thought it was a great place to relax and have some family time a few hours from home. We really enjoyed our stay, the owner and manager were very nice and very helpful. We like fishing so did a lot of that from the dock and from the boat a few times. Also explored the local area, did some hiking. It’s not the fanciest place- we weren’t looking for that though. Everything  worked, and we had what we needed, as well as a kitchen and grill for cooking. The kids enjoyed the loft a lot too.

Just what we were looking for

When I opened the door to my (SPRUCE 1) place, I was okay with what I saw for the price I payed.
I believe most of us stay at these places for a nights sleep more than a place to hang out like home.
Chuck should offer me a few dollar refund after reading the rest of my comment but I will find out what kind of person he really is if he don't. There is no way in heck he or any of his family members would sleep on the so called bed I had. It was like sleeping in a bowl. My head and feet were a foot higher than my mid body. It was absolutely horrible. Chuck, people throw out mattress that are in better shape than what I slept on. I am seriously thinking about asking my credit card company to stop pmt and to haggle the price for four nights of no sleep because of a trash of a mattress. I hope people read this review before paying up front.
