Overall Lazy Oaks is a good deal considering todays inflation.  However, two areas need to be addresses. The first, get better Wi-Fi, kept going out every 10-15 minutes. Second, they want you to use the fish cleaning station, it needs upkeep and the water restored.  Hope they have these fixed.

Needs a little wi-fi tech and TLC...

We have been returning to Lazy Oaks for 19 years and routinely stay in the same cabin. Over 2 years ago the property was sold and of course we were looking for some really needed updates. Wow, were we surprised and NOT in a good way. The new owners have hiked up the daily price significantly (approximately 40% higher than a few years ago) with little improvements to justify the increase. Yes, they put down new sticky tiles in the bathroom that are already peeling and yes, they put in a new toilet and vanity (very cheap one) and a larger tv. But the bed is the same raunchy bed and the bedroom still has the filthy carpet in it that is over 20 years old and probably never steam cleaned!!!  So tired of greedy people and this is a perfect example displayed by the new owner. They have not even repaired one of the two docks that patrons love to fish from. The cookware is minimal so bring your own is the best advice I can offer or better yet, just skip this place. Although we do not have or bring dogs, the charge noted in the cabin states $20/DAY! Are you kidding me???
	


Greed!

It's a nice place but in need of some TLC. The docks are in disrepair and cabin could use a little updating. The bathtub plug was non existent so had to improvise with a plastic bag in order to take a bath. I heard there are new owners so hopefully they will put some $ into this resort.

Needs a little work

We booked our reservation 6 months in advance. We got word that we could not leave our residence because of being quarantine porpoises. Lazy oaks AZ told us they would not refund our deposit but could give us credit for future stay.
Not very happy with their greedy policies.
I would not stay there now even if they make me pay the deposit.

Need to cancel because of corona quarantine

The drain in the bathroom sink was clogged with hair. The toilet had a black ring around most of the base because it hadn't been scrubbed in a long time. I was afraid the toilet would overflow every time I flushed it. The bedroom door had a hole in it  on the front side with a small board to cover it up. 
The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the pillows way too firm.
My cabin had no view except the back of the cabin next to mine. 
The fishing piers were in bad shape, and most of the shoreline is covered with rocks and tree stumps in places. 
Which makes fishing difficult. 
The television was tiny and mounted on an angle that made it difficult to watch without getting a crink in the neck.
I have no plans to go back.

Very disappointed!

Really enjoyed our stay here. Nice kitchen, fireplace, and great view of the lake. Super cool property, will go there again in a heartbeat! I really don't have anything bad to say! Rustic and awesome - you'll love it! Oh, and super nice folks there!

LOVED THIS PLACE! Pine Cabin!

Great, cozy and quiet little place to stay with family. Just a little ways from town but once you pull into the property you forget time and are emerged into nature and tranquility. Private lake access, fishing docks, horse shoes, BBQ grills green grass and wildlife all around you. Take your own food, cooking spices and drinks and use the dishes and other amenities provided for you in the cabin and just relax with no timeline or schedule. Staff is nice and helpful. 

We had an amazing time. Will define be back.

Rustic enough to relax your mind but not outdated and antiquated

Big cabin; warm, quiet, comfortable seating, easy to live in. It has a full kitchen and two bathrooms. However, as others have said, it really is getting in need of some serious money, love and attention,  Everything you need is here. I do like the place. It's very homely on cold winter nights. Helpful man at reception, too.
BUT, there were a few hairs on the bottom bed sheet, which is pretty unacceptable. The bathroom was pretty gritty, too, and needs a deep clean.
A shame, really. I have travelled widely, and ropey hygiene in a place is not unfamiliar to me. I really would have liked to give this place a five star review, as it has a great feel.

Blue Spruce Cabin. Good value, BUT...

We stopped in Pinetop-lakeside again this week on our way back from OKC,OK.
Being this close to our favorite place, we could not resist.
It is so calm and quite here and wonderful view of the lake and the cottonwood trees!
The people there are so nice, they will get you whatever you need if they can at all.

We took the recommendation of my wife’s admin for this one - a good location and very reasonably priced.  It is located on the west side of Rainbow Lake west of the main drag in Pinetop (highway 260).

We stayed for 2 nights the day after Labor Day so there were lots of empty cabins.

The picturesque log cabins line up back from the lake among tall trees and green grass.  
The inside is not quite as pretty, the decor is definitely rustic and worn, but we found it clean and comfortable.  The TV over the fireplace was on the small side so we pushed the 2 Barcalounger type chairs closer.  The kitchen was cramped between the bedroom and the living area, but this was just a one bedroom floor plan.

The place is dog friendly but they must be on a leash.  Our dogs had great fun straining at the squirrels while we held them back.

We picked the “Aspen" log cabin that was closest to the lake, with a view of the lake.  It had 2 queen beds in the one bedroom instead of a king.  The 2nd tiny bathroom was nice - no waiting on one another.

To get to restaurants and bars siri had us travel the roads both north and south of the lake, depending upon which end of the main drag they were located.

Definitely a good choice, especially compared to whole house rentals that wanted much more - whose prices seemed reasonable until the cleanup fee was included.
