We've stayed at BML several times over the past two years. Each time we've left planning our next visit. The serene and comfortable accommodations coupled with the superb service provided by the entire staff on each of our visits ensure our return.

Excellent Fare and Accommodations in Bucolic Surroundings

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at Bear Mountain Lodge; our room was very comfortable, the furnishings were nice, linens were high quality and the room was spacious. We didn't miss having a TV but a mini-bar and a coffee maker would have improved our experience.
Breakfast was nice and the servers were really pleasant. 
We didn't eat dinner at the lodge as the choices were very limited (only 2 entrees to choose from) but we wished we had, the food choices in Silver City were awful. We went to a new "French" restaurant that had good reviews online but it was the worst restaurant experience that any of us (four people) had ever had, truly terrible. Avoid "La Vie Est Un Bistro" at all costs.
In fact the whole Silver City town experience was a let down. There are a few cute buildings downtown but over all - the town is a bit of a dump. No nice shops, no nice restaurants and all around a bit rough and grubby. 
Stay at Bear Mountain Lodge if you're going to be visiting the Gila Cliff Dwellings but stay on the premises in the evenings and don't bother with the town of Silver City.

Literally the only reason to visit Silver City

Beautiful setting, quiet, serene, friendly staff, great breakfasts.  A definite place to relax and feel comforted by the natural beauty and the attentive owners/staff.  No TV which was great.  Added to the sense of primitive beauty but still had strong Wi-fi signal.  Room was very updated, comfortable, and perfect for my wife and I.  We hope to return soon!

Two days at Bear Mountain Lodge

What a wonderful 3 days.  This is first time we've stayed there and we will again. There is no television, no social events just relaxing, beautiful rooms in the middle of the forest.  Each evening returning to our room we were greeted by 2 deer.  The food was excellent as was the wine. Breakfast is served each morning and this is not a buffet but a beautifully prepared meal.  I recommend this Lodge for a relaxing stay in the wilderness and a short drive from one of the largest Wilderness Areas in the US.

Beautiful, relaxing stay.

We live a couple of hours from Silver City, and the Lodge has been a favorite weekend getaway for many years. The ambience is delightful! Welcoming hosts, a historic building furnished comfortably and artistically, meals cooked with fresh ingredients and imagination. The setting, amid high-desert hills, makes hiking our favorite pastime. You don't even need to leave the expansive property to find beautiful trails.

Peace, mountain views, and meals worth the trip

A truly wonderful place that has exceptional character with extremely pleasing accommodations and a staff that is just great at all that they do.  The lobby with a fireplace warming you on a cool winter day and the fantastic food offered by the kitchen will have you wanting to come back!

Exceptional lodging at the Lodge!

Spent two nights here, a week apart. Four of us. Top ratings for everything: cheerful fires in the large sala, warm and kind hospitality, lovely staff, well-prepared meals, comfortable and pleasant rooms, handsome Western setting, historic building with loads of character. As the Michelin Guide would say, “Worth a detour.” And how!

Just Go!

We stayed for two nights and just loved the inn.  The staff were so kind and friendly, the rooms quite nice with a beautiful view.  You should understand that it is an older hotel that is not trying to be the latest and greatest with technology - no TV, no phones, and we loved the opportunity to unplug (although we did have excellent Wifi).  The real find was the truly excellent dining program.  Dinners were just terrific as were breakfasts and also our box lunch.  They pay attention to their food the way that foodies do and we appreciated that.   There is also a very friendly cat (Miu Miu) which made the experience that much less sterile and more like visiting a family friend who happened to have an excellent chef on staff.  

Off the trail and into our hearts forever!

We can’t say one negative thing about our visit. If you’re looking for a party atmosphere this is not the place. It is quiet, relaxed with no TV and rather spiritual. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. I’d recommend it at any time of year. MewMew the cat is adorable, the horses happy and the grounds lovely. We will definitely be back!


Best Place Ever

Bear Mountain Lodge is accessible to sweet Silver City but private and wonderfully quiet. The facilities are homey and the Lodge showcases many local artists with works for sale. The breakfasts were outstanding and the staff provided great service.
