In Kauai’s south shore, we enjoyed staying at the Poipu Bed and Breakfast Inn located just a few miles from most of Kauai’s south shore attractions. Nice relaxing place with just four rooms offering a more authentic Hawaiian experience. A joyful relaxing experience is having breakfast provided outside on the lanai with the river flowing nearby enjoying the songs of exotic birds – now this is the Hawaii we love. Great beds yield some of the best sleep we have had and beach gear is available to borrow. Good restaurants, shopping, and a Long’s Drug Store at the The Shops at Kukulula (mentioned above) are a 5-minute walk away – very nice! Poipu Beach is Kauai’s best all-around beach for tourists on the south shore. Many would say the best beach overall (see photos). Nice wide and rather long beach with a grassy park next to it overlooking a beautiful post-card ocean scene. Because a reef protects it, normally the waves are small making it great for swimming, snorkeling, and safe for supervised kids. There is good parking and Brennecke’s is a nice restaurant there that also sells food, drinks, etc. for the beach. Try their smoothies – great.

Did not know how to set my expectations, but this place was perfect for us.  Breakfasts were amazing.  Of course we like critters so the sounds of the wildlife were ok with us as well as rain hitting a metal roof.

Nice B&b 

Everyone and everything about this place is delightful including the staff the food and the location.  Part of its charm is its old world feel but it also meant an old bed and bedding that needs an update.  

Staff, food, amenities great but updates needed

Having spent previous week living in a VW wetfalia, died and gone to heaven! This was a last minute booking, very welcoming and gracious hosts. Was surprised to get a full breakfast of bacon and eggs along with fresh fruit.

Great bed, friendly service, amazing breakfast!

We loved our condo. It was on the second floor of a small two story building. It had patios in the front and back. We could walk to restaurants and the beach. It was very spacious. The bed was comfortable. The only thing I would watch is that the unit does not have AC. That didn't matter to us since we went in January, however I don't know how hot it might get during the summer months. 

Wonderful Location

Loved spending time with my sister. The last time we came together to Kauai was when our kids were young, 20 years ago. Our condo is pleasant, the beach is close for snorkeling and body surfing. We walked to Wednesday night market, happy hour and music. The beach hut had everything we needed for our daily beach trips including chairs, snorkel equipment, boards. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and cookware. We were very happy. 

Time with my sister

My husband and I stayed for one evening on a longer Big Island trip. What differentiated this inn from others was the hospitality. From the moment we entered the inn (even though we arrived early) we were made to feel at home with a quick tour, an invitation to store our food in the refrigerator and an invitation to ask any questions we might have about the island and its surroundings. Fresh fruit, water,  tea and snacks were available. The rooms were smallish but the bed was very comfortable. There is no AC and Hawaii can be damp but the quiet fan in the room kept us comfortable. Fantastic breakfast served on the front porch--you can hear the sounds of a waterfall located across the street. All in all a lovely stay.  

Wonderful hospitality

My adult daughter and I traveled to Kauai for a mother-daughter vacation in early January 2020. Upon arriving at Sunny Poipu Condo #4 we were impressed by the location--short walk to the beach and close to our favorite shopping area. 

The condo was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the second floor because it felt like we were in a treehouse with the lovely banana (plantain?) tree right outside our balcony. Our condo felt very private because of the way the entries and balconies are separated from each other. We loved the high beamed ceilings and comfortable layout. It is not a new building, but it has lots of charm and was clean.

Our visit was met with about 5 hours of sun and the rest of the trip was overcast to sideways rain. We kept remarking how fortunate we were to stay in this lovely condo since there was quite a bit of indoor time. This condo really saved our vacation as we were able to dash to the beach during the random clearings.

We loved it, and will stay again. 

I'll Definitely Be Back

my wife and I did our honeymoon here, centrally located, everything that was needed was included. My wife and I did not ever get acclimated to the humidity but there was plenty of windows and fans available to accommodate two Alaskans who were used to very very cold temps. We would both stay here again
