What a GREAT find! I absolutely loved my stay here. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Rooms and bathroom were clear. I would highly recommend.

Great value and Great find

We stayed in the private room. The positives: the place was fairly clean and it is cheap-ish. 

Negatives: one of the most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever slept in - I could actually feel the wooden slats through the mattress and there was no headboard to the bed. There were simple things missing from the room like a mirror and a trash can (having come recently from a couple of different hostels in New England, this was standard in other places). The faucet in the bathroom needed repairing, there was no hand towel or way to dry your hands provided in the bathroom and the overall environment in common spaces was dark and depressing. There is no laundry in the house, and even if there is a coin laundromat in another building it would really make the hostel experience better and more up to the standards of other hostels to have a washer/dryer inside. There was a mysterious line of duct tape running along the ceiling of our room and it looked a lot more run-down than photos. If you’re looking for somewhere affordable in Providence I would just go with a budget hotel where there will be better service and amenities. I would not stay here again as I’ve had better sleeps while camping and sleeping on the ground.

Look elsewhere

The photos depicted on their website are in no way an accurate representation of what you are getting. The neighborhood is unsafe, there are bullet holes on the exterior (they claim from old electrical wiring - You can decide from the attached photo) and the place was filthy. I've stayed in Hostels and never experienced one as disappointing as this. We immediately left and stayed elsewhere. When trying to discuss the issues we had we received a condescending response from Alina. We were both fully aware that this was a hostel, but that doesn't allow for there to be such extreme discrepancies between their website and reality.

I thoroughly enjoyed my two-day stay here! It's located just a 5 to 10-minute walk west of the State Capitol Building in a quiet area.  First of all, and most importantly, THEY HAVE A HOUSE KITTY CAT!! That right there is five-stars for me! LOL! But seriously, the hostel is very cute and clean; the beds and rooms were very well kept.  The staff was the best part about it! I wish I could remember her name, but I believe she's Australian or a New Zealander, but she was just marvelous with recommendations and help and made me feel right at home! The kitchen was very well stocked, and they had a huge wall of recommendations of what to do in and around Providence and beyond! They had a laptop for guests, they had books to read, and they had complimentary food. Not mad about that at all! I had a great time! Thank you, Providence Hostel!!

Highly recommended!!! Loved my stay!

I really had a great time here at the hostel: the bathrooms and my dorm room as well were super clean, and the atmosphere in general was cozy as I was looking for. The staff has been nice and friendly, they gave me a map and showed me what to see/eat/do in Providence, as well as in other cities. 20 min walk to downtown, close to bus and train station. The managers were always welcoming, and there's also a wonderful cat. 100% recommended for a nice and quiet stay in Providence!

Clean, cozy and friendly hostel! Totally recommended

We were greeted very cordially and accompanied to the Guesthouse, which is in a quiet residential part of town 3 blocks from the main hostel.  With the parking pass provided we had street parking right outside. This is an older house, with the original painted wood floors, and freshly painted walls and remodeled bathrooms and kitchen.  In mid September we were in one of the three rooms upstairs with a centrally located and nearby bathroom with tub and shower.  I appreciated having a quiet fan and a window we could open. Very comfortable.  There were guests in all the rooms, and everyone was so quiet, a welcome change from the usual hostel situation.  The owner and her representative were very gracious; this building had only been open for a short time so they were adding and improving.  We had everything we needed.

Quiet and cozy

The bathrooms & dorm rooms were very clean, as was the kitchen — which offers a high quality water filter (thank you). Good wifi signal on both floors. Feels rather like visiting a friend’s house in the relatively quiet part of town. I was only there one night passing thru, but found the staff to be very warm & welcoming, and quite helpful. A nice fella from Alaska showed us how to use the simple yet unfamiliar Turkish coffee stovetop thang (and there’s instant coffee too — bring yer own cream). Lots of free maps & helpful suggestions all over the place on where to eat, drink & be merry. The cat is super cuddly (its fur owns one of livingroom chairs) nice big windows, massive TV (usually turned off). They have a guitar & banjo 4U to play. Safe & secure, well air conditioned. Not the pretty part of town, but not ugly, either. Only room for 2 cars off-street parking. Irish bar & modest yet well liked cafes in close walking distance, perhaps a 1/2 hour walk to downtown or Little Italy. Some dorm beds felt more comfortable than others. Mine was just fine.
