My partner wanted to stay in the middle of gay everything. There are lots of places in town to do that. But this is also across Hwy 6A, which is no bigger than a narrow lane, of two gay bars/establishments. Gifford house with Club Purgatory and The Brass key with ............ on the weekends the thumping music can penetrate the windows. 
The accommodations have way too many antiques for my taste and they crowd out the rooms. Ours was the room on the first floor with the king bed (2 twins together) fireplace , who’s pilot light was giving off heat in July, and the tiniest bathroom with corner toilet. Even though we are not big or overweight, trying to get up after sitting took some maneuvering. The window air conditioner was able to keep the room at 71 although it cycled on and off constantly. 
The room was cleaned after we left daily and very thoroughly. Jose does a great job keeping things in order and repaired.
Bill was very helpful for all our questions and there wasn’t one he couldn’t answer. Who knows if this wonderful couple will be here when YOU book YOUR room as the house is up for sale. They were good about keeping our fridge stocked with free waters daily .
NO plastic utensils or glassware was another nice touch. We had drink glasses as well as wine glasses.
Just 4 blocks to Stop n Shop, liquor store and coin laundry were big pluses.


Kitschy with wonderful hosts

If you know what to expect, this place is perfect. If you want it to be something else, go pay a lot more someplace else.
Bill and Jose are lovely folk who run a clean and quiet Bed and Breakfast. The location is pretty much perfect! A short walk off Commercial on Bradford (at Carver St.) There's lots of cars during the day, but very little at night. The building is well kept and solid, so we didn't hear anyone else coming and going the whole time. Our room was right next to the kitchen and the breakfast room -- still didn't hear anyone! The bed was very comfortable, the sheets were divine! 
What it's not: If you are looking for fresh-baked local yummies in the AM, this is not your place. There is enough to make a meal for yourself, but it is not a special breakfast. If you are looking for a room with all the whistles and bells, this is also not your place. The bathrooms are small and modern and you won't be able to spread your stuff on counters like a modern hotel. The room is cooled with a window AC. There is a modern TV system (if that's your thing), and vintage furniture and wall art throughout the room.

You will be happy there if...

First, the positives: Bill and Jose are warm and accommodating hosts. The continental breakfast was generous: bagels, english muffins, hard-boiled eggs, cereal, coffee, and a variety of jams, honey, and butter for your toast. The inn was clean and full of beautiful antiques. Though the inn is right on the main drag (Route 6A), it was very quiet. My room was on the small side for two people but fine for just one. The bed was very comfortable. 

Down sides: my room was not handicapped accessible, but that wasn't a problem for me. It was up a steep, narrow, spiral staircase. Jose carried my luggage up the stairs for me, saying it was tricky. It would have been, too. My room was only accessible via an outside entrance, which I was assured was locked at all times, day and night. Unfortunately, it was not locked on my last night there, and someone got into the house and tried to break into my room--with me in it! It was a very odd encounter--the person never spoke. They pushed my door so hard it bowed into my room, but when I yelled at him or her, all I got was a string of loud clicking noises. Finally, the noise stopped, and as I didn't hear the person leave, I called the innkeeper to report the attempted break-in and ensure the person was gone. I wedged a chair under the doorknob. Jose came over and assured me the outer door was locked and there was no one there. The next day, Bill tried to convince me that it was only the wind! Or maybe a drunk passing by, knocking on doors. (There is a bar across the street.) Or maybe the door knob jiggled itself loose by accident. I was appalled that they would try to explain away an attempted break-in that way. I will never return to this inn. If you're a woman traveling alone, my advice would be to go someplace else. 

Charming place

The Bradford Carver House has an old time homey feel. The hosts are so kind and accommodating and made me feel right at home. This place is within walking distance of everything in the charming city of Provincetown

Very homey

We booked a room for one night but immediately upon arrival we booked a second night! We felt delight with the room and our hosts couldn't have been more welcoming. We explored the town,rode our bikes and enjoyed everything (even the rain and wind). Two nights wasn't enough and so we stayed for a third!
