Punta Gorda

Newly redone due to the hurricane, these suites are lovely.  Excellent mattresses and bedding.  Spacious living room and dining area make for a terrific gathering spot for socializing.  Only negative for these suites is the very thin walls---you can hear conversations next door, even when people aren't speaking in a loud voice.  Luckily it was our family next door' otherwise, it would have been problematic.  Excellent housekeeping staff.

Lovely Stay

I will start with the positives -- This hotel is very new and provides beautiful accommodations with friendly front desk staff. It is located on the water and most rooms feature lovely balconies which make for a terrific experience in Punta Gorda. 

The bad, which is very bad and problematic from a bigger picture perspective. I made a reservation on their website with no prepayment / advance purchase for my sister. My sister checked into the hotel room and her reservation and their team swiped over my credit card and had her card on file for charges. I had a second reservation under my name and enjoyed one evening at the hotel, again, lovely front desk staff and terrific views. 

I reviewed my bank statement that week to find that not only did I get charged for the one night in the one room that I stayed in and authorized my card to be charged for, but I also got charged for the evening that my sister stayed with her reservation. I did not check my sister's reservation in and did not authorize payment to my credit card for this room/reservation. I was not even present at her check in but for some reason that is beyond me, the hotel charged my credit card for the one night fee. When I called the desk and spoke with one of the front office agents, she profusely apologized and acknowledged the mistake and credited my card back. 

Sometime later, after again reviewing my statements, I came to realize that the charge had reappeared. I started my dispute process with my bank and the hotel after I tried to get in touch with the team a few times and was hitting a dead end. I followed up a few times with the front office team to get support and feedback from the General Manager, Rebecca, as the issue of illegally charging my credit card without my authorization was and remains incredibly concerning to me.

Someway, somehow, despite originally rectifying the issue of illegitimate charges with the front office team, apparently Rebecca shared some false statements on why they charged my credit card without my approval and authorization. I have attempted to continue to try to discuss this matter a few facts remain, I never checked into the reservation made, a credit card for payment was swiped by the individual checking into the room and somehow, which again, remains totally shocking to me, my credit card got pulled and charged for that first night. 

While the hotel is beautiful and accommodations are nice, the fact that the team and General Manager think it is acceptable to acknowledge their mistake, refund my card then turn right back around and illegally charge my credit card and fail to try to resolve the issue with me personally, instead I am faced with following up many times and finally hearing nothing at all from the General Manager, makes me incredibly uneasy about this hotel's operations and would recommend an Airbnb experience or another hotel in the area.

Unfortunate Experience

By far the largest and nicest hotel suite I've ever stayed in-- like a condo. Staying here was absolutely wonderful. The staff is so nice, its new and super clean. Beds are comfy and their pillows are so perfect I'm going to buy one for Christmas as a gift to myself. Can't wait to stay here again and invite family as I think the rooms are PERFECT for spending quality family time together. The location is also great, with lots to see around the property, fun restaurants, seafood, convenient to historic down town Punta Gorda yet it feels tucked away with a "small town" vibe. Easy access to 75 to get to the beach.

The Best Hotel In Punta Gorda By FAR

This was our first visit to The Suites at Fishermen's Village and we loved it.  We had one of the mid priced rooms and it was beautiful.  Hard wood floors throughout, vaulted ceiling, full kitchen, 2 bedrooms with an adjoining bathroom, and a killer view of Charlotte Harbor!  The staff waiting on us were so friendly.  Both staff at the check in desk stopped what they were doing to help us learn a little about the area.  It kinda felt like just experienced some Chick-Fil-A hospitality.  

Punta Gorda seems so new and fresh.  Everything we visited appeared to be newly constructed and so clean that even the Waffle House in the business district didn't seem that scary*. There seemed to be a multitude of new car dealerships along this business loop as well.  They must like to drive.   

Punta Gorda is also an interesting name for this alluring town.  As my Spanish speaking friends** know this translates to "a fat kick on third down" that is made during an American football game***.  Do they want to be known as a sports town?  I'm not sure but we will definitely return and choose to stay at the Suites again.  It's located right next to the paved 2.4 mi Harborwalk which was fun to explore.  The Suites are actually located on the 2nd floor of the Fishermen's Village.  The first floor consisted of various "boutiques" selling items making me wish I won the latest Mega Millions.  However, we thought the restaurants/bars were reasonably priced for a resort town.  Our room was located right by a bar and it did not bother us in the least.  I'm a light sleeper and sleeping was not a problem****.  

The only thing I was not super impressed with was the pool.  If a pool is important to you, this pool was fine but it didn't have any privacy.  Every shopper walking to the boutiques/restaurants or to take a cruise will be walking right past the pool.  We didn't want to swim so this didn't really matter to us.  The Village is a cool place and you will enjoy your stay.

Our 1st Visit to Fishermen's Village

I spent a week with this resort while looking for a new home.  I  am an airline pilot who stays in 5 star hotels; this resort beats them all!  Exceptional staff and accommodations.  Great restaurants, shops, and stores.

Outstanding friendly Staff!  Beautiful spacious rooms.

We recently had a 21-person family reunion and everyone stayed at the Suites.  We’ve had many family reunions and stayed in resorts in places like California, Vegas, Catalina Island, Disneyworld, and Hawaii.  Everyone remarked that these were the very best accommodations yet.  The Suites were spacious, clean and comfortable, well-stocked kitchens, beautifully decorated, and had the best views.  The staff was professional, friendly and accommodating.  Add all the shops, restaurants and bars right below and I don’t know what more you could ask for.  We highly recommend The Suites at Fisherman’s Village and will be recommending it for all future visitors.

Family Reunion

Very nice stay for 3 nights. Shops and restaurants were downstairs all within the same mall area. Photos of the suites were accurate. Room was quiet, pool view. Reserved parking area. Full kitchen with K cups for coffee. No carpet floors, neat and clean. Staff at front desk were very friendly and professional. I would recommend and look forward to returning. Fishing piers were a short drive, many spade fish. 

Family fishing vacation 

My family and I just had an amazing 4th of July  getaway at Fisherman’s Village! We checked into our suite Saturday afternoon. The check in process was quick and easy. We had a two bedroom, two bath suite with an incredible water view. Our room was clean and spacious and perfect for our family of 5 to spread out with plenty of space. During our stay we enjoyed eating downstairs at the Village Brewhouse for lunch and dinner and each morning had a delicious breakfast from Village Fish Market.  Our kids loved walking the mall downstairs and we found lots of great things in the little shops. We loved hanging out at the “beach” area where mom and dad could enjoy a nice cold drink while the kids played cornhole and giant connect four. We would  then walk across the way to see the big tour boats from King Fisher Fleet set sail for their sunset cruises. To celebrate the holiday, they had plenty of activities to keep our kids busy. From a photo booth to face painting and tattoos, to balloon making and even a meet and greet with mermaids! We finished off the trip with the most “epic” as my 7 year old daughter called it, firework show. We had true VIP seats from our balcony for one of the most beautiful fireworks shows I have ever seen. We can’t wait to go back and have decided that 4th of July at the Village will now be an annual thing!

Amazing 4th of July Family Vacation

My friend and I rented one of the suites for 2 nights.  We actually live in Pt. Charlotte, but this was truly like we were on vacation on an island somewhere!!  The room itself was fabulous!!  Two bedrooms with Jack and Jill bath, plus extra vanities in each bedroom!  Decorated very tastefully and serene.  We only had to leave once to eat out, as all the restaurants close by 9pm (UGH!)  That's when we found out most restaurants in the city of Punta Gorda close their kitchens by 9pm.  Had we known that, we could of brought our food and cooked in the gourmet kitchen, fully stocked!!  A beautiful place to stay!!

Staycation

Loved this place, super clean and great accommodations!  Shops and restaurants below and rooms on upper level.  Nightlife shuts down around 10pm so no worries about noise levels at night.  The only downside was things shut down early so if you're looking for nightlife action, this is not the place for you. Beautiful views, a dolphin showed up every morning which was so cool to watch.  Nice walking paths, weather was perfect and pool was perfect!
