I drive back and forth across I-70 several times a year and decided to try a stop in Quinter. Here's what I learned: Before booking, pay attention to the amount of "service fees" that will be tacked on to your final room cost. These "taxes and service fees" amounted to 50% of the cost of my room, moving the price from $106 to $162. Not sure what those service fees go toward. This is a basic motel right off the freeway. My room was dated and somewhat musty. Breakfast wasn't great even by motel standards, and there don't appear to be any restaurants in town that offer an alternative. Felt like a rip-off. I would not recommend this place.


Basic Roadside Motel with too many service charges

This is a wonderful smaller motel in the middle of Kansas. Super clean and quiet area. Not many dinner options close, but the cleanliness and newness of motel make it a perfect stopping place. Much better price to stay here than Hays! We would love to stay here again. Gas at this exit a better price than Hays or Colby when we visited, also. Very nice staff, even when we arrived at midnight.

Great little hotel

My wife and I stayed at Castle Rock Inn & Suites while traveling from St Louis MO to Colorado Springs CO.  There aren't many choices other than Hays KS (which is substantially larger and offers many more restaurant/lodging options than Quinter KS), Wakeeney, or Quinter if you don't want to drive the entire 12 hours from St Louis to CO Springs.  Hays is nice, but it's an hour further drive than Quinter - thus the decision to stay in Quinter.  Castle Rock Inn provides an AARP rate for $81 - great deal.  Taxes brought total for King-bed room to $93.  Check-in was efficient with a team member sitting in a room behind the front desk quickly acknowledging us and getting our room keys ready quickly.  We stayed in room 207 which faces I70 = there was a fair amount of interstate highway noise, but we travel with a 'noise machine' that provides white noise, therefore the close proximity to the interstate didn't impact our sleeping.  The king bed was comfortable.  The room looked like the photos of rooms on the hotel's website (something that is not always the case).  The hotel WiFi is not password protected, but I always use a VPN anyway when on a public network, so I didn't feel 'exposed' using the good quality network.  The bathroom was clean, toilet flushed well/fully, and shower had ample hot water and water pressure.  The continental breakfast was adequate with yogurt, waffle mix available, cold cereal, a buffet-like serving container with hot scrambled eggs and sausage links, assorted pastries, and typical juices/coffees.  Is it a glamorous breakfast?  No - but again, $81 for a room, if you want a luxurious hot breakfast, stay at a B&B.  

We arrived into Quinter at 6:30 pm.  I had researched meal opportunities before planning the trip and identified Center Pivot brewpub for dinner.  There are only two or three restaurants in town, so do your research and if arriving later in the evening or if you want more than 'bar' food, stay in Hays instead of Quinter.  

I would stay at Castle Rock Inn again.  We did our research and the town and hotel both met our expectations.  Some of the 2 and 3-star reviews others have written about Castle Rock Inn reflect more on their poor planning than it does poor offering by Castle Rock Inn or Quinter.  Some people apparently believe all hotels are Embassy Suites or Hyatt Regencies- not the case.  For $81 on a Monday night, Castle Rock provides a clean, safe, and comfortable stay.

Great Room for $81

Our room was spacious and clean, so happy with that. But we chose this hotel because it’s website lists Covid protocols that were important to us in the midst of the Omicron surge. However, upon arrival we found that not only did they not require guests to mask up, but not one staff member wore a mask. If this issue is important to you, be forewarned.
Also, this hotel does not have a restaurant— and when we asked for a recommendation where to get dinner, we were told Dairy Queen, or the Sinclair gas station that evidently sells pizza. Didn’t expect to find a Ruth’s Chris in town, but really? Next time we’ll head a bit further down I 70 for a better overall experience.

No Covid Precautions

From the minute you walk in the front door, you know by the smell you are in a great place.  Few small towns have this quality of a hotel. Rooms are immaculate, staff is friendly and helpful, rooms have everything needed for a great stay.  The full breakfast is great.  Great place to stay for a good night's rest.

Excellent Hotel

Both night & morning shifts just sat in their chairs in a back room and never offered assistance. They were too concerned about their phone to help even find a luggage cart for two elderly guests, one with Parkinson’s and one walking with a cane. 

The hotel was clean, but will never stay there again. 

Clean hotel, horrible service 

This hotel is out in the middle of nowhere, but I booked it for a stay so I could go see Castle Rock in the morning.  It was great!  Bed was comfy, room clean, evey thing you could ask for! 

 Unfortunately, no restaurants were open  when I arrived, and while the hotel had a sundry store (with pop, junk food, travel essentials) no restaurants were open.  I had to do to Conoco to grab something to eat.

Breakfast, however, was great!

Awesome Hotel, No Real Food Though

We stopped on our way to and back from a family vacation and were thoroughly impressed by the cleanliness of the room.  Was not expecting it to be this nice considering its pretty remote but the hotel management must run a tight ship.  Would highly recommend!

Great Clean Hotel

If you are making the cross country Rte 70 stop and don't have the energy to go to Denver, Castle Rock Inns in Quinter is a great option.  Located right off Rte 70 and the outskirts of Quinter, it has excellent beds, tv, and is incredibly clean.  The town of Quinter also has a restaurant or two for local dining.

Very clean, reasonable price, and a Dairy Queen up the road!

My husband & I stayed at Castle Rock Inn & Suites in Quinter, KS for 1 night. We paid $111.38 after requesting the $1.90 service fee (to use the safe) was removed.

ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: We arrived around 8:45p; check-in took approximately 10 minutes. We were assigned room #111.

ROOM
• Amenities: Standard, including a microwave & mini fridge.
• Bath: Standard size, plenty of hot water 🙌🏼, only downside was the almost-too-powerful pressure (adjusting the shower head didn't help). The exhaust vent sounded like a bird chirping, lol. The towels were clean, but a tad rough -- doesn't bother me though.
• Bed (king-sized): Extremely comfortable & clean (see photo using a blacklight flashlight)! The pillows were small & not very soft (doesn't match the amazing comfort of the bed), but thankfully I brought my own.
• Cleanliness: Immaculately clean! 5/5 ⭐
• Decor: Standard
• Heating/cooling: At home, we sleep with the thermostat around 71-71°. We had to kick this unit down to 68°, but the room never cooled quite as much as we hoped.
• Safety: We felt safe, especially since the front doors lock between 11p - 6a.
• Sound: Minimal, just a few doors shutting & cars outside the window facing the parking lot/highway.
• TV: Large TV w/ good reception & plenty of channels.
• WiFi: Free & a strong signal.

COVID-19 RESPONSE: No real precautions taken or enforced. The PM clerk put a mask on when we arrived, but the AM clerk was not wearing one. Nor were most guests. No plexiglass partition. Breakfast being served as usual.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Average. The AM clerk was particularly nice.

FOOD: Due to COVID, we did not eat breakfast at the hotel. We did grab a couple yogurts to-go.

LOCATION/PARKING: Easy access from highway 70 w/ ample parking.

Would we recommend? Yes

Would we stay again? Yes. Minus the few comments I made.. our overall stay was very pleasant! Most important to us is a clean room, comfortable bed, & hot water. This hotel hit those marks!
