The staff regularly checks to see if we need anything. And if we do, it is handled right away. 
For nature lovers the location on Canyon Lake is a plus in March as our winter friends, about 4000 Canada Geese leave for their summer grounds and new migrating birds stop by the way north. Hearing their communication before leaving is amazing. Wish I spoke “goose” so I could understand what they are saying. 
Yesterday, 4/2, we observed the first Osprey of the season checking out the nesting platform in our front yard.

Home away from home

The staff at Canyon Lake Resort makes us feel like we are home every time we arrive. They take care of our every need with a smile. I specifically enjoy sitting in my living room and watching the wildlife on the lake and yard. Our second week during morning coffee we were able to watch several hundred geese returning from their breeding grounds to spend the winter here at Canyon Lake. The location makes the heart of the Black Hills less than 15 minutes away. 
Being able to park your vehicle right outside your door and walk in without a long hall or stairs is a blessing. This is my seventh fall at Canyon Lake Resort and it gets better every year.

Our home away from home

Spent our week vacation at our favorite place in Rapid City! Our base camp. We have stayed here 5 times over the last few years. So relaxing and comfortable. The management is always helpful and informative. Love sitting outside in the evening and watching the ducks, swans, and occasional deer. Even though it is just a short drive to all the attractions you would want to see, it feels like you're in the country. We'll be back!

Our fifth time here. Wonderful place.

My husband and I loved it here in motel room 22!  Rooms 16-22 have lake views.  Loved it so much our one night stay became a three night stay.

The view of Canyon Lake, the afternoon shady spot to relax at the provided grill and picnic table, the birdwatching, the lovely employees, the provided paddleboats, the convenience to various Rapid City attractions yet away from the bustle of the city, and more made it one of my favorite stays ever.

I will add that we aren't fussy people. We don't need a hotel provided breakfast or housekeeping during a short stay.

What we like in lodging the resort provided and then some...free ice for our glasses in the morning, fresh towels, good beds, nice air conditioner, reliable wifi, hot shower, a mini fridge, free parking, clean room, and a stovetop/microwave.

Loved the kitchen box you can pick up from the front office.
The atmosphere was such a bonus.

I can see this being a remarkable place to have a family vacation with the fire pit, volleyball net, pool, etc.  Honestly wish we could stay longer.

Loved Canyon Lake Resort so much we stayed 3 nights instead of 1

What I loved about this place is that is very close to Downtown Rapid City, only 10 minutes drive, also close to the highways we needed to take to do our road trip. Management was very helpful, and supplied all we needed for our longer stay. We rented the studio cabin, which was very spacious, had a kitchenette, and a very small bathroom, so if you are larger in size it might be hard to use the bathroom. The cabins are older, so you must keep that in mind. Nothing fancy, but with enough amenities for those who use the accommodations to sleep and take a shower.
We wish we had a view of the lake, but it’s ok, like I say, we only stayed here to sleep and take a shower.
I recommend this place, price is very reasonable and they offer free cancellation up to 15 days before your arrival, which for us is a priority

Very reasonable priced and great management

We had our family Thanksgiving in the Cattail lodge, one of many you can rent.  We loved the casual atmosphere it had as we did not want a stuffy place to gather. We wanted a comfortable beautiful place that it is set on Canyon Lake on the edge of Rapid City.  It was well equipped and we also had a game room with a pool table, ping pong and Foosball.  Alot of wildlife around on the lake.  We even saw a big buck run by our back yard.  The staff were super accommodating and friendly.  There were alot of things to do like paddle boats, great areas for picnics and playgrounds.  

Great lodge for large and small gatherings

Our motel room had a lake view, was clean and comfortable.   Wish we would have been here longer to take advantage of the paddle boats, Fire Pit, Smors and other activities available.   

Service was friendly and professional too.   They allow dogs and with advance request, in our case allowed a bit earlier check in.

Staff were very accommodating to our late arrival. We enjoyed the paddle boats. The office staff even surprised us with a s’mores kit for the kids. The location is very convenient to restaurants, a walking trail, and the local attractions.

Stayed here for our 50th anniversary.  We had the studio cabin (which was the last one available when I booked), and was a better than our expectations.  Typical studio size, but with the adorable front porch and view, it was all worth it.  The owners and staff were amazing, helpful and made everyone feel welcome.   We definately plan on getting that same little cabin whenever we return.

Beautiful, quiet setting

This was a perfect stay for us. The manager, Debbie, was very friendly, helpful when booking, and when we arrived. The studio cabin was clean, and just the right size for the two of us.

We will definitely being coming back to stay!
