I was in town for business and decided to make it a small get away with my husband.  We arrived at the property and at check in saw a note on the counter stating the hot tub was out of service.  One thing we enjoy when traveling is the hot tub.  The front desk agent, Priscilla, and Manager Barbara were very apologetic.  Barbara showed us what the issues with the hot tub were.  We completely understood.  We got to the room and started to unpack and get ready to head out to dinner.  We turned on the TV and there was no signal.  Priscilla came up to the room and rebooted the box and tried several things to get the TV back working.   The TV/Cable provider was out the day before upgrading some lines in the area, so all the TV's in all the rooms were not working.  I booked through a third party (non-refundable).  My husband went to the front desk and spoke with Barbara and she was so kind to allow us to cancel and get a refund through the third party.  

We moved to a different hotel in the area for this stay, but we will definitely be back to Rib Mountain Inn.  The property is such a beautiful property that really reflects North Central Wisconsin.  

With all the issues that happened to be the perfect storm, Barbara and Priscilla maintained the highest level of customer service I have experienced.  They could had said too bad, but they did not.  Because of their dedication and professionalism, we will be back, and we will promote others to stay there.  There is a phrase in the Customer Service industry "It is not our fault, but it is our problem".  None of the issues we experienced were of the fault of the property, but they took it on themselves to remain positive, make it their problem and make us satisfied customers.  We as consumers are so quick to complain, but never take the time to acknowledge great service.  I encourage everyone to say thank you to those that provide and go above and beyond with great service and interactions.  It is not always the transaction, but the interaction that wins.

Superior Customer Service - Will Return! A+++

EVERYTHING was great!  The staff was amazing, the rooms were clean and cozy, the sauna and large outdoor hot tub were a huge hit, and the breakfast area/lobby was big enough for our large group to enjoy a perfect weekend together!  We will definitely be back any time we are in the area!

Such a warm and cozy Mom and Pop run inn. As close as you can come to a mountain ski chalet in the mid west. The HUGE outdoor hot tub is amazing after a day on the snow. Great sauna.  The beds are comfy and the wood burning fireplaces are perfect. Walking distance to the ski lifts. Hot coco bar. 
Super friendly local staff. Stay here if you are skiing Granite Peak, or even just visiting the Rib mountain area. 

Family ski trip

Rob Mountain Inn is quiet lodging in the Granite Peak Ski area of Wausau, WI. The hotel is very WI North in decor. It is older but unique. The main checkin area is large and decorated with the outdoor look. The hotel is located near a ski hill which is connected by a nature path. There are several hiking trails near the hotel. 
Our room was quiet and clean. The staff was very attentive. Highly recommend staying at this hotel. Remember, this hotel is older so you have to use a real key to enter your room.

Nestled amongst the gorgeous forests at the base of Granite Peak ski resort, this quaint and cozy inn is 5 star. Awesome beds, beautiful balcony, wood burning fireplace, kitchen…

Book it!

We had a TERRIBLE experience. Stayed here the weekend of a wedding and immediately with check in the front desk attendant was short and unpleasant to get out key. The staff was vacuuming at 8 am in the hallway so that was great to listen to on a weekend. The front desk attendant was standing in our doorway during wedding photos hashing at us to check out when clearing it was a special day. The photographers made comment that they were treated poorly upon arrival. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel based on their poor customer service.

Terrible customer service 

Front desk personnel were very nice and courteous. Upon arriving and checking in the request was made to prepay at least two weeks up front and since I knew I would be there that long I obliged. It was only after running my credit card and looking closely at the policy of the property that it was more of a nonrefundable lease than a day-to-day hotel room rental. 
The room I saw in the web site was not the one I thought I was getting. The room was across the street. The room was neat and orderly but after unloading my luggage found that the room had a foul smell of a wet dog, and the couch in the room reeked of the smell. 
Other problems with the room included a very small flat screen TV with a blown speaker, Spectrum's cable channels were few and not worth watching, the kitchen was poorly equipped with pots and pans but the appliances did work as they should, the vinyl flooring was coming off the floor in spots, hot tub did not work, one of the mattress in the room sunk in the middle and was broken down, the carpet was sticky in places, and the air conditioner had to consistently stay running on high to circulate the air in the room to tolerate the small of the dog that was once there. 
I contacted the Inn as soon as the office opened the next morning.  Someone who said they were the owner only deflected my issues with the room. The defense of the stench and other issues were practiced and presented well, and I gathered that these complaints before had been made before. I found other accommodations and left a few days later. I won’t be back. 



LOOKS NICE BUT SMELLS LIKE A WET DOG

The staff was friendly, the rooms are spacious and clean, the beds are comfortable and the breakfast is excellent and the views to the woods excellent. The hotel is in a quiet upscale neighborhood with walking trail up to Rib Mountain or up the street to view the beautiful landscaped houses. My wife and I have stayed there a number of times over the last 5 years. We would have given them a 5 star except some rooms still need updating.

What more do you need.

Had very pleasant stay here after having to pay the ridiculous prices at some of the others nearby. The facility is small, somewhat "secluded" in nature. Friendly staff, very, very good selection of items for their free breakfast and comfortable lounge area .  Price still seem high side but better deal than others in area. 

Very nice change in motel environment

We stayed here over President's Day Weekend with our two tween boys.  We could only get a room Sunday night as Saturday was totally booked up.  Nevertheless, we were so glad we got to at least stay there 1 night.  

We had a top floor studio room in the main lodge with 2 queen (actually closer to full size) beds, pull-out couch, real wood fireplace, free WiFi, a full kitchen, though it wasn't needed much because they served a great breakfast.  There was plenty of dinnerware, and the cookware was better quality than your typical cottage-grade stuff.   The lanai looked out into the woods.  The bathroom was nice and they provided generous amounts of shampoo, conditioner etc...  The communal room was great----spacious, wood fireplace and friendly staff behind the desk.   The outdoor hot tub was excellent after a day of skiing.  Location was awesome--a short stroll through the woods got you to the Granite Peak parking lot and very close to the Comet Express lift.  Breakfast was above average with several egg choices, 2 waffle irons (and chocolate chip waffle batter...mmmm good!), sausage and the typical continental breakfast items.   

So, overall, i would strongly recommend the Rib Mountain Inn, especially if you're in town for skiing.  Our room was a little on the pricey side, but the location can't be beat, plus it was nice staying in a rustic lodge so close to the ski hill.
