We stayed in a deluxe lake view room with two queen beds one night.  Our room did have a view of Crater lake but not a direct view, it was around the corner a bit.  A man came in and booked the same type of room while I was checking in and the front desk gave him a price of $100 less than what I paid. The room is very expensive and you are paying for the location. There is no air conditioning in the hotel which I was aware of, however, the fan in our room was pathetic and mostly broken. It barely put out any air at all, did not rotate, and rattled. There were wildfires in the area.  During the night the room was hot without good airflow and smelled smoky  because we had to sleep with the windows open. The sheets were very scratchy. None of us slept well and my adult son and I barely slept at all. Other than that, the view is one in a million in from the hotel porch. my favorite part was sipping a glass of wine and watching the sunset over the lake. The food in the restaurant was better than I expected it to be. There were quite a few moths flying around inside the hotel and one in the restaurant.  They could give you a fan that works and soft sheets when you pay $400 per night.

Beautiful view but no sleep

Crater Lake Lodge is a majestic looking lodge overlooking the deepest blue lake one can imagine.   Unfortunately due to the switching of concessionaires in April, our reservation was inadvertently cancelled without my knowledge.  I learned of this when checking in so I was crushed because the lodge was fully booked.  Tim, one of the managers worked hard to make it right.  In the end, we were able to enjoy one of our nights with a wonderful lake view and we were able to hike Garfield Peak in the morning right from the lodge.  Thank you Tim!
It's important to pay attention to wildfires in the summer, but I would highly recommend staying at the Lodge. It is a wonderful base for an adventurous or relaxing vacation.   Plan ahead and book a year in advance if possible.  If you plan to eat at the Lodge restaurant or take the boat to Wizard island, be sure to book those early in the season.

Majestic Lodge/ Breathtaking Views

The lodge was a great place to spend the night in May and see the beautiful snow-capped mountains surrounding Crater Lake.  Be warned (and they are upfront about this) that the road going around the perimeter of the park will likely be closed due to snow until June or July.  Regardless, my mother isn't much of a hiker these days but we were able to enjoy a glass or two of wine and sit in a rocker over-looking the lake.

Beautiful Place to Stay

It is impossible to speak with an agent to discuss a change in plans. They require callers to leave a message and did not respond to me.

In my case I was diagnosed with a heart condition after making my reservation. I called before the 7 day cancellation window, twice; and left an email on their website. No response.

I called the day before my two day cabin reservation, no response.

Then on checkout day of my two day reservation I did get a call saying I was responsible for the full amount. 

There is no record of my attempts to contact them I can present to prove I did call before the 7 day cancellation window.

Very frustrating.

Impossible to speak to a reservation specialist

We stayed for 2 nights in a deluxe lake view room.  I knew to expect a small room in an older hotel, what I didn't like was that the room was directly over the back patio area that was very loud as you have to keep the windows open for ventilation.  That by itself, not a deal breaker though. The views are truly amazing, the location can't be beat. The food quality in the restaurant was average but our servers were friendly. What I was extremely disappointed with was that the hotel, in general, appeared unkept and not clean.  The main floor was so dirty, the women's restroom hadn't been cleaned (trash overflowing and no paper towels) on Thurs evening and by Friday am (12 hrs later) when we went downstairs for breakfast, there was no change. The window sills were caked with dust. The place is closed for like 7 months out of the year.  It literally felt like it hadn't been properly cleaned when it opened this year?? The bar on the 2nd night had a sign that draft beer was out of order. There were 2 can options and when I ordered the bartender asked if I'd like a chilled glass. Then as she reached into the cooler, said "oh no, I lied, no glasses". I asked if the beer was cold, she said yes.  With my first sip, it was not. The couple in front of me ordered a vodka tonic with lime.  They were out of tonic and limes. And only had one type of vodka (although the drink menu offered different vodkas in different drinks). I know a new hospitality company took over this year, maybe this is just working out the kinks? But lots of room for improvement.

It's ALL about the location!

Crater Lake was more than we could have hoped and our room overlooking the lake was just perfect. Yes it is quite dated but that’s not why you are staying here or what you are paying for. It was clean and had everything we needed. The quirky lock on the door was part of it! We loved the lodge and the decor. It felt right. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and did not feel it was overpriced. The food was also cooked beautifully. All the staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. Shoutout to Rowdy in the restaurant who was fantastic. It felt so special to be able to sit out on the balcony with a free coffee and watch the sun rise over the lake. We loved every minute here, only downside was not having more time. Worth every penny to maximise your time if you might only get here once!

A must stay hotel for making the most of the lake!

Yeah the rooms and meals are way over priced, but the lake. What can I say? This is the second most amazing land form I've ever seen following the Pulpit Rock in Norway. Folks who are so disappointed, get a life and find a new word.

Amazing Views

Room was unacceptable. So tiny two people could not turn around. No closets, shelves or clothes storage other than 3 pegs on the wall. Sink outside of bathroom in Bedroom, made hygeine not comfortable. Price was high for this type of room. Food in dining room was good exceopt Pancakes for breakfast could have been used for roofing material. Room was so HOT despite opening window. We checked out EARLY! 

So disappointed 

This is an historic hotel in a great location with view over Crater Lake. The common spaces like lobby, bar and restaurant, are classy rustic. The rooms have small windows (it's an historic hotel, after all), but they open to the outside. Bed comfortable. Bathroom modern. Staff were pleasant.

We reserved a double without a view.  The room was quite comfortable even though pricey….especially when you pay a 10% surcharge for making a reservation!!!! The common areas are comfortable and views from the lodge’s porch are outstanding.  We were fortunate to have great weather for our visit,  We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Remember, though, unless you are camping in the part the closest alternative lodging is at least an hour away (one way!!!)….so plan accordingly!!!

The only real negative to this lodge is the restaurant.  The menu is very limited and boring….not to mention pretty expensive.  This, however, is pretty typical of what we find in most national park lodges.  The waitstaff worked hard and for the most part was quite friendly.
