We are always looking for a beautiful place to stay when we visit my parents in nearby Goshen. We have stayed many places but this is now our forever spot.  This inn has history , warmth, comfort, safety and Great wifi connection. In a place in VT where you may have cell service , great wifi is a necessity for those of us with busy lives. Chris Bullock is a great host. He even invited my parents to breakfast, proving Vermont hospitality is still strong. The rooms were clean, the beds very comfortable. The sitting area by the fireplace could have been the only place i needed if we did not have other obligations already. we will be back soon and I highly recomend this Inn,

An Amazing hidden gem

You won't find a more accommodating innkeeper than Chris Bullock. He did everything to make my 10-day stay feel like a home away from home. My room was cozy and quiet, perfect for my needs. Delicious breakfasts. Great place to relax in the Vermont mountains.

Comfortable, accommodating, beautiful surrounds

We had a wonderful stay at the Chipman Inn! We are a family of 4 (kids are 10 and 12) who were in the area to ski. Killington is exactly 1 hour from the Inn, but it was a beautiful drive. Pico Mt. was closer to 50 minutes. Sugarbush is near by too. We loved sitting by the fire at the end of our ski day and the restaurants recommended by the Inn Keeper Chris were fantastic. Chris was full of great history and information about the area. It’s hard to find Inns that are a good fit for families and this one knocked it out of the park. We can’t wait to return!!

Perfect Inn for Ski Getaway

Chris is a very welcoming host.  Our room was lovely and the bar/living room area has a working fireplace.  No TV in room but there is a comfortable TV room.  Great full breakfast cooked with care and was very delicious.  A gratis glass of red wine was nice too.

This is a great country inn and Chris is a superb host. Breakfasts were exceptional and the room and bed were so comfortable.  We traveled with our dog and Chris was just as welcoming to her as to us humans!  With a dog, we could not be in the dining room,  so we ate breakfast in the tavern. That made us feel even more at home!  And trails behind the inn made for a perfect morning dog walk. No TV in the room, but the WiFi is excellent for streaming, and there's a tv in the lounge. Chris had helpful  directions and suggestions for places to visit/eat. The location is convenient to Middlebury and the scenic mountain areas.

We traveled from Florida to drop our
our son off at college. Car trouble along the way, Chris told us not to worry and he would be waiting for us when we arrived. Arrival was extremely welcoming. Beautiful Inn. The rooms were charming and immaculate. After a long trip, we woke up late the next morning and missed the breakfast time by a short time, but Chris and Laura had no problem accommodating us. Breakfast was amazing! Day two was just a continuation. Our departure morning Chris made sure we had a good breakfast to start our journey home. We have traveled all over the country and, this by far, was the best stay we have experienced. This will be our go to place when we visit the area. Many, many thanks to Chris and The Chipman Inn. We look forward to our next visit.

The Best place to stay

I know everyone else has already said it, but you will not find a more caring, generous host than Chris. The inn is beautiful done, with modern details where you want them (heated floors in the bathroom!), and old-fashioned ones in all the right places (that fireplace!). Good beer on tap at the bar was just a bonus. The breakfast was amazing, and set us up for a long day of exploring on skis. If I could rate this place a "6", I would.

It couldn't be better!

We spent three nights between Christmas 2019 and New Years at the Chipman Inn.  My husband and I were traveling with grown children in their 20's.  Our host, Chris, greeted us warmly on a rainy Friday afternoon and showed us upstairs to the Rose Room and the Green Room.  Both rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. Back downstairs, there was a fire in the fire place and a warm (or cold) beverage available.  Chis has decorated the Inn with a interesting artwork (Edward Hopper included) and historical information - all with local connections.  

The weather was not kind to us over these days but we had a marvelous time anyway. We got some downhill skiing in at Sugarbush, trips to a couple of local breweries (Foley Bros. and Bobcat), a hike near Lake Dunmore.  The location was perfect for us even though we didn't even get to Rikert Nordic skiing center or the Middlebury Snowbowl.

The best part of staying at Chipman in was not just clean comfortable rooms but our Innkeeper Chris.  Everyone staying at the Inn was having a good time.  Chris was vigilant in attending to his guests.  The other families, with small children were all hanging out in front of the fire, playing games: 2 kids from NY playing with 1 kid from NJ, playing with 2 kids from DC. I felt like I was at a holiday party!  In the morning we all met again in the dining room for a fabulous breakfast.  I cannot say enough good things about a Chris and the Chipman Inn! We look forward to future visits.

THE PERFECT VERMONT INN

What a great place to stay to enjoy this part of Vermont. Chris Bullock is a brilliant and friendly host and made our two night stay all the more enjoyable with his recommendations of places to visit and to eat. Comfortable accommodation (we had The Green Room) and lovely breakfasts both mornings. We rarely return to places (there are so many new places in the world to visit) but if we ever found ourselves back in Vermont we'd certainly stay at The Chipman Inn again.

Great Place in The Green Mountains

Chris Bullock, the innkeeper, welcomed me with the trademark warmth and congeniality he extends to all guests. 
Though busy managing his inventory and cooking, after a very busy week at the inn, he took time to give me a tour of the inn, with all of its unique antiques and art, explain its history, and give me a choice of rooms that were available, even though I had  already reserved one in particular.
The inn has been in Chris’ family since he was in his teens, and he looks after it and tends it and his guests lovingly.
There is a bar and very cozy two-room reception, each guest room is different and has its own unique personality.
Chris prepares a gourmet breakfast for guests each morning.
The Chipman is perhaps the most peaceful and comfortable country inn I have ever stayed in. I highly recommend it.
