"Independence" Day - July 4th  2023, I found myself staring into the by-gone era of the 1950's. 

 Camera in hand, K9 by my side - Both of us, were thirsty for whatever may have come our way - Hands placed 10 & 2 on the wheel of the car,  we made our way through the highways and byway, in the sweltering heat of the South West.
It was then, we stumbled across the Holiday Motel and quite a sight to behold, it was.
At first glance - Many may have turned away. But, not us - We felt compelled & welcomed, by this forlorn establishment. 
Perhaps it is my being an avid photog. why I found so many pleasures, as I peered through the lens creating the revitalization of this quaint 1950's, ground floor, row-run style, of rooms for let. Rooms, which were mostly sound-proof from the adjoining room.  Afternoon temps were soaring, over 100*F - yet the air-conditioning unit of the room, blasted  out coolness nearly on command, as I switched it on. The small icebox, also provided adequate chill to our meager groceries and plentiful supply of H2O.
There were plenty of plush towels, two facial bars (most people bring their own personal toiletries - I know, I do). Being accustomed to daily, birdie bathes, I chose to stick with saving the water reserve of the desert and use only a face cloth and one towel for my toilette - Therefor, I am unsure of the water pressure for the shower. Although, I can say, the water temp, like the weather, was HOT and well received.
The bed on which we lain, was your typical "hotel" variety, bed. Nothing to write home about. At home, my nightly bed consists of a baffled, soft-side water mattress (rarely does anything compare). Speaking of pillows; Naw, they were seriously flat. Generally, I bring my own anyway.  So, nothing to worry my pretty lil head about there. There to be looked upon, as a necessity, in case you forgot yours. 
Later on that evening, there came an array of bombs bursting in mid air. Not only were they colorful fireworks, in which to behold - these luminescent lights in the night sky - also appeared similar in sound, to that of the blasts of a cannon, shots fired from a gun or of mortars spent in past (senseless) wars.

This "Holiday Motel" - Was the ticket to our perfect paradise - We made the most of what was displayed before us. My pup fancied the maleness of it all, as he sniffed and watered his way along the yard. And I, well, I snapped  off, my proverbial butt - Taking shots of the splendor of the past and imagine how it could become again, beautiful. Generally speaking, my yard/gardens/interior are continually under construction, moving this pot or that piece of furniture, weeding, renewing & replenishing - Think of the "Four-Seasons" or the "Cycle of Life".  This is the process we can see at the Holiday Motel. Another individual, with a dream, perhaps a bit of hard earned,  cash and the desire to fulfil that dream, chooses to build the empire imagined, one brick at a time. 
This Holiday Motel was my home away from home for a night & I enjoyed every moment of my stay (with the exception of one rude guest - Not the fault of the Holiday Motel), no need to reencounter that again. 
I was able to dive back into the past for a look into the future of these humble beginnings and be a part of the process
Personally, I would highly recommend Holiday Motel - Make it a place to visit often. Grow as a family, with Holiday Motel, and watch, as the changes continue and it develops into a 10* place to call your "Home away from Home" you helped to create - Mom n Pop variety is a better way to the future. The price is nothing to barter over. They remain in keeping with the 1950's era. Down-home honest, true, and fair. Unlike those swankie rooms rented at a much higher price.
I know, I will be making it a part of my family plan for outings and convenience, while traveling on the road to Lordsburg, New Mexico.

Independence Day at Holiday Motel

We stayed at this place with family for 2 nights, the service was excellent and the rooms are very clean and beds were comfortable. People at help desk are so nice and friendly. It was easy to find this place.

Clean and comfortable

Don't let the first impression of this motel stop you from staying here at the Holiday Motel in Lordsburg. At first glance from the street it does appear to be a little bit run down and there is an abandoned indoor swimming pool building and abandoned playground out front. If you can get past these few things on the outside, indoors the rooms are actually quite nice. They appear to have been recently remodeled, are spacious, clean and come complete with a modern flat screen TV, small refrigerator and microwave. The air conditioner worked well keeping the room nice and cool all night. The bathroom and shower facilities were clean and in good working order. The bed was comfortable. Check in at the front desk was quick, easy and the office attendant was pleasant. Prices were reasonable too at around $54 total (including tax). My wife and I stayed here for a night in early August 2021 while on vacation in southwestern New Mexico. The night we were there a severe thunderstorm rolled in just after dark with very strong winds and heavy rain. It was good to be inside the safety of the motel instead of outside camping like we had done the previous couple of evenings. I did like the fact that the motel was on the old Highway 80 (Motel Drive) in town and off the busy interstate a bit. It appears to be one of the last surviving motels on the old highway (Motel Drive) before the coming of Interstate 10. The fact that this is a non-chain mom and pop motel, has reasonable room rates, has nice rooms, and is away from the busy interstate would give us reason enough to stay here again the next time we are in Lordsburg.

Better than it first appears

Clean and decent furnishing, including a fridge and microwave, which was a nice bonus on a quick stopover on a trip through the Southwest.  Comfy bed...  Larger flat-screen TV with good channel selection.  It was VERY hot and the AC took about five hours to cool the room, but it was fine...

The motel is in a dilapidated area of town and some of the buildings belonging to the motel are in total disarray.  It actually looks sketchy driving in to, but the rooms are good.

As others shared, the motel is right across the street from railroad tracks and it seemed to run every two hours at night and blew the horn every time.  It's loud...

Would stay again because it's a decent budget hotel.

Pleasant stay on a quick stopover

Fairly new owner trying to revive a 50/60s motel. The room I was given had no fridge, no microwave, no clock, no shampoo,no phone, no facial tissue. The bed was tired. I couldn't find a TV remote and had to go to the office to have them bring me one. Then it didn't work that well. The breakfast was a joke. Prepackaged items on a she1lf and coffee. There was only one outlet open in the main room            ( there was one in the bathroom also) the one outlet was on the opposite side from the table and chair, making it useless for using the computer. The wifi did work and the room was clean.Furniture acceptable but because of lack of outlets pretty unusable. When I checked out I mentioned to the owner about the missing items he said because they were often stolen, I needed to ask and they would have brought them. However I'm not sure where they would have plugged them in.
