Beautiful historical gem! Clean comfortable rooms, beautiful views and property. Bed was wonderfully comfortable. Owners and staff were knowledgeable and welcoming. Close to cities and interesting venues in either direction.

We originally booked a double room which we cancelled because our plans changed.
Imagine our surprise when we were charged for a single room on the cancelled night.
The hotel has refused to credit our account. We're disputing the charge.

Unauthorized charge.

Imagine an extra large room with a huge picture window.  A nice view of a little park, water, and the distant shore of Canada.  This is what we had the Redclyffe Shore Motor Inn.  After a couple days in the car, the large room was nice.   The King size bed was extra comfortable.  I only wish we had stayed longer than one night.  The early sunrise woke us up to a wonderful day in Maine.  One negative:  I would have preferred the bathroom light to be a little brighter, but it was fine.  

All About The View

This is a cute enough privately-owned motel. From the outside, it looks a tad rundown so I was worried. But, my room was clean and had a beautiful view of the water.

I booked late so I got a room near route one which meant there was traffic noise during the day. At night it was fine.

But there was NO HOT WATER. If you read through the reviews of this motel, it’s a running theme. The owner told me, as she has told so many, that she had just fixed it. Apparently not. I wouldn’t have cared so much had I not gone swimming in the arctic waters of the North Atlantic and came back freezing and salty. This is an issue that needs to be addressed for real.

Nice enough, bring your own hot water.

We usually stay in chain hotels, so this was different for us.  Check in went very smoothly and the lady was very friendly.  Their restaurant was closed for the season, but she told us to stop by in the morning for a breakfast bag.  The bag had an apple, a granola bar, a mint, a small bottle of water and a blueberry muffin. We thought that was very nice since we weren't expecting anything from them.  The room was good size and a nice big window let us look out at the water.  The place was a bit dated, but it was clean and the bed was comfortable.  There was a small fridge and the shower worked well.  It was also very quiet, which isn't always the case when you have outside doors.  There isn't much in the area and many places close up early.  It was a perfect spot for us to stay and do day trips.

Great Place to Stay

Stayed a couple of nights, it is a little dated but clean and comfortable with a beautiful view. The restaurant closed a while back but the food is good in the area, just remember that places close earlier than most people are used to. Met some very nice friendly people and a day trip to Eastport was very charming. Park near the hotel is a nice place to walk.

Friendly Maine

This fun little inn has its quirks and interesting decor that might distract you but don’t be judgey because the balconies are wonderful to hang out on and the little bay neighboring it is fun to explore.
We are traveling with two older kids and we let them loose in the bay below while we sat and enjoyed cocktails on our big balcony overlooking the water. 
The woman who checked us in was super sweet and helpful. She made sure we had adjoining rooms with our parents. A gentleman that came in while we were checking in had the wrong night booked but she was able to accommodate him in the main house - which is different than the little cottages and their balconies - so she was super helpful.
She gave us an AWESOME list of activities in the local area which is good because you wouldn’t be able to find them easily on any website. They offer a ‘to go breakfast’ that is $5 and comprises of a granola bar, an apple, a bottle of water and a commercially packaged brand of muffin. We passed on that since that’s what we already had packed.
The rooms are very spacious and clean and and showers are hot! But don’t let anyone use the bathroom sink while you’re showering or you will be in for a roller coaster trying to adjust your temp - it took us a couple showers to figure that out. Haha! They have extra blankets and pillows in the drawers, a desk, a small mini-fridge, a small air conditioning unit that was loud but did the job if you needed it, table and chairs. The Wifi was weak in our cottage but was stronger close to the main building. 
There is a full array of coffee and tea options but the coffee makers in both our rooms had the tray missing that holds the coffee pods so we were a little confused about that. The location was about a 30-40 minute drive from Lubeck so it wasn't too far and another 30-40 minutes or so to Calais. So a good middle location.

Funky Fun

I choose this motel because it promised a view. I got the view from a large well equipped room with a sliding door to a deck overlooking the water. The woman at reception was lovely and most helpful. I just kicked back and relaxed after several busy vacation days. I would happily go back here as the Maine Coast drive is awesome and this is a wonderful place to stay. There is no restaurant on sight but several close by. I just picked up some food to take with me and ate while enjoying the view.

I needed this

Our room was lovely and very clean, the view from our balcony was outstanding, you could see the lobster boats, eagles, even a blue heron. It was so peaceful and quite, it was exasperating just listening to the ocean, we took a walk down on the rocky beach and lingered on the boat dock. We will definitely be back again, love, love, love this place. As they state on there website it has its own rustic charm and not tacky and modern. It’s just a small drive to the nearest restaurant, but there is a small grocery store with everything you may need about 4 minute drive. Not to forget to mention the staff are wonderful.

Ocean View

I was so excited about this place, based on my research online. We stayed 1 night, in room 22. The room was very clean, but very dated. We had a room with a view, and new mattresses. The mattresses were super soft, and cheap. I hope they last more than one season, but I don't see how they could. The manager is so nice; truly just a delightful woman who would do anything she could to help. The property is a bit run down, not nearly as nice as it seems in the pics. The owners German Shepard keeps you from walking anywhere around the property, and that's kind of a bummer. I would say unless you get one of the balcony rooms (#22 is a view room, but no balcony) there would be no reason to stay here. The balcony rooms are more expensive, a nd at that point, you would be better off to go someplace in Eastport or Calais....you have to go there to get anything to eat, anyway. Bummer, I hate saying I can't recommend this place, because the manager was just so nice...but I can't recommend it.
