Went to this motel.  Wood work was so marvelous to look at.  The way they decorated for Christmas, the beautiful lobby, such a grand place to be.  We got us a suite.  Got into the room and loved this.  We asked for a suite and got one with an upstairs. We later learned they have a suite with one level, we will see about this next time.  We cannot say enough about this hotel. Food was great, eggs was real eggs at breakfast not the other.  Staff was so so kind and when having a question they was very helpful. Would highly recommend this place. We had a riverside view but do with the window would of been cleaner but seriously I would never let this stop me from coming back.  The refrigerator kept freezing our items and we did keep turning this down.  Thank you as we love your place and will be back. 


Riverview Inn & Suites well worth coming to 5 ***** rating 

What a beautiful old style hotel and woodwork through out the hotel is stunning. Hidden gem!  We had a party hosted there, very impressive. I recommend a stay as well as a party venue.

Hidden gem in Rockford

Super friendly service! Everyone there was so nice and helpful, the breakfast was great! I would suggest this place to anyone planning to stay in the area, the rooms were clean and the staff was helpful in finding things to do in the area as well

The Inn and room was very clean.The bed,pillows were  comfortable. Saundra,Sherelle, katrina, Eboni were welcoming,kind and helpful.  They greeted us and asked if we needed anything .  They made us feel very comfortable. Thank you

Awesome room with fantastic view. Breakfast was superb and Katrina is a wonderful hostess. The river view from the two story bedroom room was to die for and we will definitely be back. Desk staff we tremendously helpful 

Must stay here

After seeing online photos of the renovated rooms I thought I'd try something different as I travel to Rockford frequently on business.  

The detractors--1) The hotel smells like weed.  Smoking weed in the parking lot gets sucked right into the individual room AC units disseminating the pot odor.  2) The staff's a little rough--they all seem new, don't have a lot of training, not confident in their jobs, not wearing uniforms, and not particularly outgoing.  3)  Breakfast is pathetic.  How hard would it be to put out eggs and bacon like a Hampton Inn?  Instead there are pop-tarts and frozen burritos.  4) Cleanliness.  Some kind of roach-looking bug in the bathroom.  Stains on the carpet.  5) Safety.  Not the best area certainly wouldn't go walking around day or night. 6) No business center or computer to print.

The positives--1) Renovated albeit paint, basic furnishings, and bathrooms.  Brightened up the rooms and hallways.  Exterior is overgrown and public areas like the pool have yet to be touched.  2) Bed was clean, good pillows, comfortable.

I'd love to give them an "A for effort" but more like a "C."  They've invested some money but haven't gone all the way.  I wanted to try a local business versus the same national chain hotels but I wouldn't say this was worth the rate I paid.

Thought I'd try something different. Overpriced and Disappointing.

Let me start by saying the rooms at this place have been recently renovated and modernized, are super comfortable and spotlessly clean.  The beds couldn't have been more comfortable and the bathrooms are beautiful with their tiling.  Furniture and televisions are nice too.  This place has the basics down of what makes a place a great hotel - but that's about where it ends.

First, some of the staff, such as the maid, is very friendly and attentive, while others seems disinterested and don't seem to care much about guests.  None of the staff dress in any kind of uniforms which looks rather unprofessional and makes it difficult to identify who a staff person is.  Uniforms don't have to be expensive as it wouldn't kill them to have t-shirts with the name of the hotel or something, which would bring an added degree of professionalism to the hotel.  Seeing people in regular clothes with a lot of tattoos and piercings just doesn't cut it.  Only the maid had anything remotely resembling a uniform.

Second, they set up a free breakfast every morning but it is sorely lacking compared to other hotels in this price range.  Really just store bought foods out of packages and nothing made onsite.  The drink machine was broken so they put out bottles of juice which get quickly picked up.  Only caffeinated and no decaf coffee readily available (they have pods to take back to your room).  The only remotely "hot" breakfast items are bread, english muffins and bagels you can put in the toaster.   Otherwise it's store bought fruit cups, cereal and pop tarts.  Not appetizing at all. They really need to work on this one and need to be more like a Hampton Inn or Best Western would do it (rates are similar).  This is the "Ascend Hotel Collection" isn't it?

Third, the common areas are reasonably clean but the elevator looked atrocious, badly worn and didn't seem to be cleaned the whole time we were there.  The pool, while very warm and pleasant to swim in, was in a room that was not well maintained or painted.  It looked very old and neglected.  It also wasn't always unlocked when they said the room was open and we had to ask staff members to unlock it more than once. 

One exception on the poorly maintained common areas was the fitness, it looks like it is in top notch shape with a lot of great equipment and weights.  Very nice.

This place has the most important basics down but needs to try a little harder in the common areas, with a more professional looking staff, an overhauled breakfast with hot foods, and a nicer looking pool area.  I would be willing to give it another chance if these areas were fixed but it going to take some serious pushing by management; if they hire the right people they might just pull it off.

Horrible service.  We waited 20 minutes in the lobby to check in.  We rang the bell and called 2x.  Someone finally came to the desk and didn't seem bothered when I said we had been waiting.  Our room was musty smelling and besides the bedding (which seemed clean) everything else seemed like it could have been cleaned better.  The window was all foggy & mildew covered so we kept the curtain closed.

Don't bother!
