The Roscoe Motel is the real deal-a vintage mid century motel with all of the character and quaintness you'd expect. Better, it is literally on the banks of the  world famous Beaverkill creek, renown for the trout fishing. It also far off the highway but close to town and rather secluded with plenty of open space and nature around it.
It is diamond in the rough;  be patient as the new owners are working their way through a list of upgrades. I easily overlooked the surface flaws and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.   I suspect soon it will be the go-to place in Roscoe, so better get your stay in while you can still get a room.

The room was ok and not carpeting I personally couldn't tolerate any carpets, especially in Motels. I must say that my room had no table  inside the room even a small one and it was only one chair, I sew a small table outside by the door so I accomadateted myself with that cleaned and use for a portion of food. My room was faced so call back" Yard " what was a Beautiful view of the small flowing river and there is a space that you can sit and just watch.

The Motel is oldee kind of , but it was updated lately bid .The host -owner was nice .Room have hiter / cooler .

Nice motel recently under new management, which has improved things since our last stay. Good, basic, affordable accommodations right next to the historic Beaverkill River.

Great location very close to the center of town and many shops, restaurants, etc. Good place to stay if you are fishing locally, or touring around the area.

Manager and their family are friendly and provide great service and a clean and welcoming environment. 

We will be back.

Nice Motel on the Beaverkill River

First the good news:  The Australian girl who checked us in was delightful.  Although the temp outside was 10 degrees F the room was warm.  There is  too much bad news to list everything , but here are the highlights:  One of the windows was a junky slider replacement that didn't fit.  A wind gust actually blew it in!!!!  I had to replace it and prop up something against it to keep it in place on this frigid night.  There was a light switch in the bathroom NEAR THE SHOWER that didn't have a cover.  A Possible electrocution hazard!   To get into the room we had to climb over a slippery snow bank about 2 feet high because the snow plow (days ago) had left an unbroken pile of snow from one end of the motel building to the other.  No other way to get to our room other than to climb the snow bank and my wife has bad knees.  Smoke detector was on a shelf in the closet with no battery.  Possible fire hazard.   Had to call the office to come set up the TV because it wouldn't work.  After that I turned off the wall switch (to dim the lights) and that turned off the TV power and it took 15 minutes for Direct TV to reboot.  Lots more on my list (13 things total) but I'm tired of typing and I've covered the worst of it.  What a dump!

Avoid this place at all costs!  Especially Room 3.

I spent a recent night at the Roscoe Motel seeking a nostalgic flyfishing trip.  You see from 1967-1987 and sporadically after my family vacationed on Memorial Day at the Roscoe Motel (primarily the era of the Nissen Family ownership).  It have great memories of childhood days there.  The night I stayed (September 11, 2020) a new set of owners (4 friends), have taken the reins looking to restore the modest style (or maybe 'Back to the 80's).  On the first night all the beddings were replaced with new ones.  And Coffee and Baked Goods were back.  Carpet cleaning likely on deck and maybe someday reopening the pool.  The new owners have a large task but hearts and vision to match.  I wish them luck and look forward to staying there again soon.

Pro: Trout stream right out the door. 
Cons: Room was dark and smelled strongly of mold, mildew. Bathroom floor was noticeably soft and spongy, evidently rotten underneath. There are much better choices in Roscoe. Spent a few extra dollars and chose a motel that isn't a health hazard.

Bad Choice

My son and I were motorcycling the catskills, all set to tent camp, but a strong heatwave caused us to rethink the camping... so we looked for a motel.  We came across this one, and it checked all the boxes:  It was clean and comfortable, and the A/C worked great.  If you're looking for a Hyatt, this isn't it... its dated to be sure.  But for us, it was just what we needed.  And to top it off, there is a nice clearing at the end of the building where we sat by the fire ring and burned a few pieces of the included firewood.  Lastly, the coffee and doughnuts were a welcome addition to the morning.

Clean, comfortable, and cool (A/C)

This hotel was convenient for what i had to do. It was near highway and restaurants. This motel can update the room. They had a pool ,it would had been a plus especially on a hot day.  I would use this motel first before booking the other motel in the area.

Better than last Hotel

The owners should be ashamed. The motel is a mess. Besides the ripped old furniture, the place needs serious cleaning and updating. Dead bugs in the plastic wrap on the lamp shades. I will NEVER stay here again!

Disgusting

just returned from 4 days at roscoe motel.Room had 2 double beds,TV with severel working channels,microwave and refrigerator.Room was clean with ample towels and clean bedding.My son had a nice single room with a padio overlooking the beaverkill.mane nice fishermen stayed there and we enjoyed visiting with them.
