I stayed here one night and enjoyed it.  On the plus side, there is a beautiful lodge with a restaurant and bar.  It is laid out in a challenging way as my room on the second floor involved going up a stairs and down another after going through a walkway.  This is likely due to the vastness of the lodge and was no problem whatsoever.  The girl at the desk was helpful and steered me toward my room.  At this time there is major renovations being done an this is likely why I may have been one of only a handful (if that) of guests.  My room had a private balcony facing the lake and I got some beautiful photos of Fall foliage.  I also got to have a staring contest with a small deer below my room.  The bathroom was fine and even had a second sink out in the room.  The only concern I had was that the water in the shower was not as hot as I would have liked, as I like a HOT shower.  It was clean and comfortable.  I actually had been re routed here after finding out that Deer Creek, where I had a reservation, had a boiler go out and the girl there was able to call Salt Fork to get me in.  The State Park is vast and had a lot of scenery, including the Stone House, an historical property.  The boy at the restaurant was very nice and helpful as he negotiated with the chef to get me a piece of salmon on my Caesar salad.  The wine was good as well and was local.  The breakfast in the morning was good as I had a waffle and the waitress was super nice and helpful.  I felt badly for both of them due to an empty vast restaurant.  Once construction is done, I hope they get back to having full houses and I guess they had been sold out the weekend before.  I would stay here again for sure.

Nice Stay and the Lodge

My husband and I, found this treasure lodge after hurricane helena passed through our city in South Carolina. I thought that once All the construction is over this is the place to be to relax and recharge. Love floppy the deer and the beautiful fall colors. Thank you for having us! Stephanie and Chuck.

Very upset because in there site they said the bar is "always" open & it was not open when we went.  If we had known that we would of went to any other state park. We have been to all of them & this one was the most disappointing! Will not be back.. I will say that the staff was very nice & friendly..

Disappointed

Well not sure what I was expecting, I mean it is a State Park, but signage getting to Lodge was horrible, took about 30 minutes after leaving interstate. Then the Lodge, dirty, worn rooms   To top it off, washed hands and face, and no towels in room.  If not so long, would have driven back to Marietta

Terrible place

We visited on a very last minute overnight trip.  We love the state lodges and were looking for a nice pool!  The lodge is under construction so of course there were some things not available and apparent construction materials all around, but we visited on a Saturday so no work was being done.  The room was dated but very clean and the bed was so comfortable. We had a balcony overlooking the pool area and it was very nice. The pool was clean and the warmest pool water I have ever been in!  They had live music on Sunday. The food from the restaurant was excellent, we got take out both days to enjoy by the pool.
The staff was very helpful and friendly as well. I can’t wait to see all of the improvements when we return. I hope they remodel the rooms a bit, but it’s still worth the stay for all of the other amenities and the nearby park. They are doing a great job staying open and serving guests while under construction, with minimal disruption.

Great stay!

Only had the opportunity to stay for one night, so I took advantage of the early check in and late check out enhancements to to make the most of this short trip. *Tip* - one night isn't nearly enough to explore all this park has to offer. Arrived to a welcoming smile from the gal at the front desk and entered a well-appointed and clean room, overlooking a picturesque lake. Was able to hike four trails during my visit and would definitely suggest anyone visiting the park checks out Hosak's Cave and the Stonehouse trail. Looking forward to coming back when I'm able to spend more time!

Highly Recommend

We were celebrating a big birthday and came here mainly for the golf.  We arrived 90 minutes early and our room was not ready and they literally told us to come back at 4.  They didn’t offer us to stay and visit the restaurants or have a drink.  It was come back at 4.  Our room was ready but not really clean.  We ordered a celebration package that should have been in our room upon arrival.  We had to call and then wait over 2 hours for it.  What we got was cheese cubes soaked in orange juice.  The seasonal fruit for ohio in late September apparently is oranges.  They sliced  one orange and then then plastic wrapped it so tight that all the juice from the orange soaked the cheese.  The cost for this was $75.00.  We couldn’t even eat it.  When we told the night manager about it she gave us a breakfast coupon and told us we would hear from the day manager.  Well we never heard a thing.  Also they make you pay in full upon arrival.  Our first trip to an Ohio state park resort.  Never again.

Will not recommend.

Took the kids here for one last hurrah before school starts. Stayed in a lakeside cabin with a hot tub and excellent view of the lake. Kids enjoyed the outdoor pool at the lodge throughout the day and campfires in the evening. Place looked sold out and probably was understaffed but everyone we encountered was friendly, hustling and attentive to our needs.

Wonderful Weekend

We visited the lodge this past weekend for our first family trip. Our room was nice but the bathroom could use an update. The bed was very comfortable. We ate at the lodge restaurant Saturday night and were very disappointed by how under staffed they were. The table next to us sat there for 30-45 minutes before their order was taken. When we went to the front desk to see other options they said sorry we have a conference and 3 family reunions this weekend and were not much help. We ended up finally getting our dinner at 9pm. Sadly we will probably not return to stay here. 

Average stay

We had a great family trip at the lodge.  The staff was very friendly and helpful.  The rooms were clean with comfortable beds.  We enjoyed the outdoor pool, mini golf and pizza.  Great way to spend a summer weekend.
