I like this hotel... Great customer service and clean rooms.. Good food down the corner and we got some special treatment from the owners here.. Owner even moved his car for we can have a extra parking.

Great hotel... I would give it a A PLUS

Ok not the hilton,  actually service was kind of crappy, sheets did 't fit the bed and room was run down with view of airshaft and halls were dark.  BUT Place was safe and parking secure with great coffee house right outside and location was right in down town and price was cheap.  I really felt I was in a Steinbeck novel.  I would stay again just for the grifter experience.

The location of the hotel is ok being close to cafes and restaurants in old town Salinas and the bathrooms were clean. Apart from that there is not much going for this hotel. Each room gets a roll of toilet paper which you have to take to the communal bathroom (strange?). When I was there they were remodelling the inside (which is good because it needs it desperately) so there were builders scraping paint off the walls at 8am both mornings when I woke up. I had to squeeze past them in the hallways trying not to get fresh paint on my clothes. I wasn't given the wifi password so tried to call the front desk - there was no answer and I waited on the line for at least two minutes both times I called. When I went down to ask the man at the front desk he was not there and wouldn't come out although I could hear him behind the door. The water in the shower took minutes to heat up (not very water efficient) and although my room was advertised as having a desk and fridge, it did not. In my opinion you are better off spending an extra $10 to get a room a little further out of town that will feel cleaner and safer. 

Better off staying elsewhere

We stayed in tons of motels and budget hotels across the USA during a three month road trip from San Francisco to New York and this was without doubt the worst place we booked. As soon as we arrived we were hit by the run down, smelly appearance but we thought we'd give the room a chance. We took all of our stuff up the stairs... the room was dingy and quite dirty and we sat on the edge of the bed (which had torn and stained covers) for a few moments trying to decide what to do. The decision was made for us when we opened the door and there was a guy smoking drugs in the room opposite, with the door open and just leaning against the door frame watching us. We cut our losses and checked into a motel 6.

Horrendous, dirty, drug addicts... AVOID

I visited this hotel around 1am due to a late flight. I had to wait outside about 5 minutes for them to let me in after my brother had already booked the room. Once I was let in I had to wait about 10 minutes while the owner (who couldn't speak English) woke up the night desk clerk to take care of me. The clerk was so drunk he could barely write his own name, lost my reservation, and I had to show him how to do his job. He ended up charging me double for a night and after dealing with him for about 30 minutes I decided to cut my losses, take the room and go to bed. Once I got to the room I was even more disappointed as there were pubic hairs all over the bathroom. Do not waste your time or money at this establishment, and please do not support this unprofessional excuse for a hotel.
