Showed up for check in time we were given on the website and were told that they don’t offer that. When it was time for bed we checked the sheets and blankets. All had blood on them. Went to tell the office and no one was there. Upon checkout we told them about it and we were then threatened with being charged extra to clean it since the office was unaware. We tried explaining we came to the office and no one was there. Sam proceeded to get in our face and yell. Then were told that we shouldn’t expect a clean room since we showed up early (the check in time we were given on the website). Then received nasty replies on our review on google. They then lied about all of the issues we experienced with them. They also stated that it was marker not blood despite the pictures we showed. Poor service. Do not recommend.

Blood on sheets and threatened by management

Definitely the worst run motel in the area.
1.   I was verbally and physically attacked by an obviously intoxicated guest. Mac and Sam assured me that they taking care of situation. A few hours later the same guest, yes he was permitted to stay, was seen again 
I called the front desk and Sam and Mac continually asked if I wanted them to call the police. I said NO,  five times! Before they comprehended what I was saying. Both of them came to my room to discuss the situation.   They offered NO Solution to the situation. I explained that I no longer felt safe in the Bear Country Inn. After wasting even more of my time,  I was told that in 5-7 days my card would be reimbursed. I said that was not acceptable. So after wasting more of my time I was offered a Cash Refund. 
2.   I was told at 315pm that my room would be available in 15 to 20 minutes.   At 4pm I returned and was told 10 more minutes. At approximately 430 my room was available and I checked in. 315pm to 430pm is 75 minutes, big difference between 75 and 15 to 20.
3. Incompetence is the downfall of many in the hospitality industry. If this happens because of staffing issues I would understand.
 These are the Owners/Franchisees that are not providing a positive, safe and secure, welcoming environment. Listening to your guests and not trying to anticipate and/or ask repeatedly the same irrelevant questions. Communication is key in resolving issues and Sam and Mac are ineffective communicators.
I will never stay at Bear Country Inn, Salmon Idaho and if asked I will tell anyone about my experience

Pros: medium size fridge. (Not apt size & not your standard motel fridge) microwave. DirectTV. Dog friendly & they don’t ask how many lbs. We have a charcoal lab. Heater pool & spa (although we didn’t use it). Saveway market right across the street with a huge deli/food selection. 

Cons: I feel like this is where the town tweeters stay. We paid $119 a night for 2 nights but the weekly rate in the office was $1150….how does THAT math work out?? Sheets are mis-matched, cords to the TV hanging everywhere. Old school bedspread with God knows what a black light would pick up.

Beware…Yelp lists this as Travelers Inn with 4 great reviews.

We normally pull a travel trailer, so our recent motel experiences are a relatively rare experience. This place was pet-friendly...a big deal for us. We were also driving a pickup truck full of stuff enroute north to our summer home in another state, so we wanted a motel where we could park adjacent to the room for security. We did not use the indoor pool or spa, but did appreciate the proximity to the downtown area, even tho most of the merchants there observe banker's hours in the off-season. A town policeman directed us to the best place for dinner and it was a brisk walk. This region is full of A+ rated campsites for RVs...maybe that's why this motel rated a C+ on our scale. Clean and basic.

Nothing fancy

We took the grandkids on this trip so we wanted something with a pool - Bear Country did not disappoint.  It has a nice pool along with a hot tub that we all enjoyed.  The only downside is the lobby didn't open until 8am and then they still weren't there to help us check out.

Swimming

I would describe as a dump!   there was no bar soap for the shower, only bottled hand soap at the sink.  The TV didn't work, I went to the lobby and the guy said, "oh, just unplug the receiver for a minute".   I had to climb up on a chair to reach it, but then the TV did work.  However the thru-wall Air conditioning unit was so loud we couldn't hear the TV.   Something was wrong with the A/C unit for all the noise but it did work.  no sink in the restroom, it was in the room next to the bed.  the cabinet for the sink was very crude, rough edges.  NO decorations or any  kind, just plain walls.  This cost us almost $300 for one night, with a senior discount!   it would have been okay for 1/3 the price.   Oh, and the "breakfast" was some plastic muffins and cinnamon rolls, and 2 types of cereal.   No fruit or such.  This place is old and tired!   No coffee maker in the room.   This was by far the worst place we stayed in our 10 day road trip!   never never again.   Don't stay here, there is a fairly new Motel 8 at the other end of the town.

Check right before you go on your trip and make absolutely sure the property has your reservation. I made a reservation online to stay at the Bear Country Inn four months in advance of our arrival for a wedding as it was the only hotel property with vacancy. When I arrived to check in, the clerk informed me that there was no reservation listed for me and he no rooms available. I told him that I had email confirmation of my reservation, but he still emphasized that he had no reservation listed.  I informed him that I had read all the bad reviews of the hotel and now understood exactly why the guest ratings were so negative. As I started to walk out, he suddenly agreed to look at my email confirmation and while I was pulling up the confirmation on my phone he suddenly 'found' my reservation on his computer and said he agreed to let me rent the room at the original price I had been quoted. 

The room was pretty bare bones, but it was quiet and the bed was comfortable. The room didn't have any strange odors and the bathroom was clean. But if you have a choice, I would definitely recommend you look elsewhere.

Check in Fiasco

I stayed at this motel over the 4th of July weekend 2021.  I paid $135 per night.  My very elderly aunt and uncle traveled from Rainier Oregon to visit my mother who is in the last stages of her life, dying from dementia.  My father made a reservation for them at this motel weeks in advance.  They drove through the night only to be told when they arrived that they did not have a reservation and if they wanted to stay they would have to pay $355 per night (Gouging holiday rate).  My father was provided a printout of the reservation which he presented to the two people in the office and they said "I don't know how you got those printouts, but your reservation must have been deleted, sorry you still have to pay the $355 per night rate, or stay at one of these other motels.  (They actually provided names and phone numbers to other motel/hotels in the area!)  The room we stayed in was very small... the bathroom even smaller and definitely NOT worth $355 per night.  Very bad management!

Never again!

We got an early check on 
The staff ..Ernest was kind and helpful ..issue with key entry but was resolved 
Room was clean and had a strange odor..probably the new rug or paint ...everything in the room was clean and comfortable 
The bed was comfortable..we brought are own pillows and blankets...the bed cover and blanket was not to our liking 
Microwave and fridge worked well 
Not many plus outlets but managed 
Looks like they are trying hard to have a clean unit 
Now the negative for us 
The door did not have a secondary lock ..so didn’t feel safe 
The outside run down but fair clean 
The walls are so thin ..the neighbor had his tv on most of the night ..so we didn’t have a peaceful sleep and everytime he used his phone we heard him 
We would never stay in this place again ...
We recommend upgrading not worth it ..
Breakfast not to our liking 
The plus was the grocery store Saveway...walking distance and had everything you can imagine 

Over night stay 

The receptionist tried to walk in our room at 1a.m. Because our TV was set on volume 12. The TV volume goes to 80, we had it at 12, and she brought a key to walk in our room to tell us to keep it down. 

This is unacceptable to me.
