Underrated!  I stayed to attend my niece's graduation and it was nice.  The rooms are clean, the full breakfast was warm, and the staff was friendly.  What more can I ask for at such a bargain compared to everywhere else.

Underrated

I recently stayed at the Econo Lodge in San Angelo Texas. Friend of mine told me it was being renovated and that the current staff was polite and considerate so I gave it a try. I must say considering the renovation going on that everything went very well. The staff was not only polite but very accommodating to my request and needs.
I would also like to point out that they are the only hotel in San Angelo that is participating in the out of the cold program program to get the homeless off the streets when it's below 35 degrees at night. I thought that not only to be a very nice gesture but a good thing.
The manager DJ. Was not only very polite but also very accommodating to my request and my needs. I was allowed to keep my dog with me 
with no additional fee.
They provided sack breakfast so to speak, which consist of your choice of a biscuit and sausage and egg or croissant with bacon or ham or sausage it also comes with juice your choice of apple or orange and a granola bar.
I look forward to when the renovations are complete. And will be staying again soon.

Wonderfully surprised

I am a traveling nurse and so I work odd hours. The staff here were welcoming and friendly no matter what time I came through. The new manager is making a difference in the way the hotel looks and changing the culture by employing a group of people who really care about the guest and their needs. I will be sure to stay again the next time I am in San Angelo.

Restful stay

The hotel is really coming along. The new look and bright lights make the hotel look and feel safe and welcoming. The staff is friendly and helpful and every one of them that I met in the hall or outside was wearing a smile, The new breakfast was a surprise treat. Bacon egg and cheese biscuits with yummy orange juice. Being able to grab it and get on the road saved us some time and was effortless. We will definitely stay again the next time we visit San Angelo. Keep up the good work guys!

New Management is doing big things

On a recent business trip to San Angelo, I stayed at the Econo Lodge San Angelo. I was happily amazed at the recent renovations the new management have implemented. The rooms are super clean, and the bed is very comfortable. It was like staying in a 4-star hotel's bedroom but at a very affordable price. The place smells nice and is bright. I got a hot breakfast and fresh coffee to go.  Best of all, the new front desk staff are happier and so helpful!

Newly Remodeled and New Management is like  4-Star Rooms at Budget Price

We’d scored our room super cheap on Hotwire for this place from out of town and realised why it was such a bargain when we showed up.

Surprisingly it’s hidden away off the street a little. Easy to miss the driveway if you’re not paying attention.

Parking lot was pretty sketchy, loads of questionable loiterers about. there’s a balcony above the pool that is so wobbly I guarantee it’ll fall on a customer if they don’t fix it or pull it down soon. It’s like standing on a swing it moves that much. Place is covered in carpet stains in the common areas.

Room was actually ok though and I can’t complain to much about checking in however in the morning the lady at the counter was much much ruder. We arrived late at night and I somehow idiotically left my shoes in the car. On my way to the car to grab them the next morning I thought I’d checkout breakfast (which was also better than I’d expected)

The lady on reception approached me demanding I go put shoes on immediately. I get it, it’s gross and I’d never normally do it plus I’m sure she has a duty of care to follow. But then she stands there just telling me how my mother would be ashamed and blah blah as I do the walk of shame barefoot to the car and put my shoes on. She actually followed me all the way to the door. I then Go up to the room for half hour and come back to down to actually eat breakfast and she comes over again and precedes to talk to me for the entire breakfast sitting about hygiene and how I should be ashamed even bringing other customers into the conversation saying “this guy didn’t have shoes on before, would you ever do that?”

As I said, rooms were ok, actual property is very questionable and staff “you get who you get I guess”

Wish we’d seen the reviews before booking

Trash all over the floors in the elevator, halls, and rooms. It reeks of smoke to spite no smoking sigsns everywhere. Sketchy parking lot connected to cracked out apartments. When we checked in late night they gave us keys to an occupied room. Poor guy had a rude awakening. We got a second set of keys and in spite of the "do not disturb" entered to find a filthy room with un made bed and dirty towels on the floor. The best part of this place was how easily the night clerk gave us a refund. The crappy part was trying to find another room at 1 AM. Unless you are seriously hard up or planning to just have a room as a drug den then stay away. I will be contacting Choice Hotels CEO it was that bad. This place deserves to lose their franchise license.

Nasty. Nasty. Worst Ever! We left.

I checked in and 15 minutes later I asked to be checked out. Front desk didn’t blink, or ask why, or offer a new room. Thankfully the void on my credit card appears to have gone through. Sketchy and dirty. 


Worst...do not stay!

I am typically not one to write a review, but I felt it was necessary to save people from the crap my boyfriend and I encountered. When I went to check in it immediately smelt like cigarette smoke, due to the fact that come to found out it was the employee in the back that was smoking. Then we went to go find our room and as we walked up the stairs it was disgusting. Their was mud and the carpets looked like they’d never even been vacuumed. The walls were chipped and dirty and scuffed up. 

Once we entered the room it wasn’t completely awful, but nothing great. The bathtub was clearly not cleaned and multiple things were broke. But there weren’t bed bugs so that’s a plus. 

The first night we went out for a midnight snack, and there were multiple people smoking outside and cat calling at everyone in sights. Then were woken up to the phone ringing for no reason, twice. 

The second night is what topped the cake and we couldn’t wait to get out fast enough. It is located behind a gas station and my boyfriend went to go get us some drinks, along his way he was approached by what seem to be a homeless man, asking him if he knew any ladies that needed shoes. The man had multiple pairs of random shoes proudly propped up in a trash can lid for sale. 
We went to bed, blah blah, then we were abruptly woken up AGAIN, but by this time a NAKED MAN trying to get into our room and multiple others. He was running up and down the halls for about 45 min before anyone did anything about it. 

Worst experience. But left for a good story I guess.

The single worst hotel I have ever seen in my life.  Seriously.  I used to work for Child Protective Services and have had to remove children from some nasty hotels.  None were nastier than this place.  Seriously.  Super scary.  Super dirty.  Unfortunately, I used one of those non-refundable sites to book the room.  I stayed less than 20 minutes.  I could not sit in a disgusting place. HORRIBLE.  AVOID AT ALL COSTS
