My husband and I were coming to Sanibel for our 30th anniversary and the place we had booked canceled us 2 weeks before our arrival. We found Tarpon Tale and now it’s our new favorite! Island Sunset was perfect for us… quiet, cozy, very clean and included everything we’d need for our stay… full kitchen with new appliances, a roomy and newly tiled shower, loveseat for late TV watching (a must for the hubby!) and a patio for drinking our morning coffee. A beach wagon and chairs were on the patio for the short walk to the beach and other items were available to borrow… straw hats, shovels, scoops and coolers. There is a nice common area with furniture, hammocks, fire pit, grill and there are  bikes are right outside your door to use to ride the paths or to the close shops and restaurants. We felt like we were in a cute beach cottage and the owner, Joe, was available and on the property if we needed anything. We enjoyed our special celebration and we will definitely be staying again!

Tarpon Tale Inn is our new go-to place to stay!

We stayed in the Mangrove Suite. It was so quiet, comfortable bed, full kitchen to use along with the outdoor grill, great patio and outdoor seating area. We rode bikes daily to restaurants, checked out everything along gulf drive went to  the old cemetery. We used the wagon, umbrella, beach chairs and cooler to take to the beach, there are three beaches within minutes away. Joe is a fantastic owner he's always there to help with anything you may need. We will be back!

Great experience at the Tarpon Tale Inn!

My husband and I had a wonderful time here! Our room was updated, beautifully decorated, had all the comforts of home and the beds were extremely comfortable!  Joe, the owner checked in with us to make sure everything was well and encouraged us to let us know if we needed anything! He got a deck of cards and some games for evening time!

We had breakfast and coffee on our porch or front garden, we laid on the hammock to read, we enjoyed the fire pit and lights at night w a cold drink—we enjoyed the peace and quiet.   we rode bikes. We used the beach wagon provided- the beach umbrella, and the beach chairs, and the beach towels, and had a wonderful time at the beach.  

We found beautiful shells and have the use of shell bags to carry our treasures and a shelling station to wash them.  

Great location with an ice cream shop and coffee shop and cute stores across the street and the beach was only a short walk-our neighbors were friendly, and we’d love to hear about their adventures, and where they came from.  You come as guests and leave as friends!! 

Joe recommended places to go and how to avoid the construction traffic and recommendations on churches and more.  It was a lovely time, and Joe did everything to make it extra special.   We are singing the praises of Tarpon tale and can’t wait to come again. The island and this special place was truly memorable.

Lovely time! Delightful place to stay!

We were so fortunate to have found this beautiful Inn with such a lovely owner, Joe. From the moment we arrived I felt like we had found the perfect place! Beautiful grounds with lush, tropical plants...nice seating arrangements, a fire pit, hammock and the best bikes (we biked everywhere and they were super comfy which is a necessity when you're biking miles everyday) which are included in the stay. We stayed three nights; one night in Sea Shell II and two nights in the Mangrove. Both extremely clean, roomy and tastefully decorated. They were adorable - we felt right at home. Each one had a deck right out front. Beds were super comfy! Beach towels, beach chairs, umbrella and beach wagon all provided. Shell washing station as well. Location - we absolutely loved this location!! It's on the east end of the island closer to the lighthouse. A 5 minute walk down to the beach, a short bike ride to the lighthouse and all restaurants/shops are an enjoyable bike ride away. Joe was honestly the best Inn owner we've ever met - he wasn't there just to maintain his Inn - he genuinely wants to get to know his guests and we saw that firsthand as well as with his other guests. Joe is what makes this Inn what it is - the doormat at the Mangrove said "Come as guests, leave as friends". And that is the epitome of this beautiful Inn. Thank you, Joe, for making our stay the BEST! See you next year!! :)

Lovely and delightful...with the most gracious innkeeper!

We had a wonderful stay at Tarpon Tale Inn! Close to shops and the beach. We rented Captains Quarter which had full kitchen,  living area and patio. The inn also provides bikes! The  owner was very attentive and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

Great location, clean, attentive innkeeper!

This inn is spectacular. We loved every minute of our stay. Joe does an outstanding job! Everything is clean and well-kept. We stayed in Lighthouse 1. It was spacious with a full kitchen. He provides chairs, bicycles, an umbrella, and a beach cart. There are several beach accesses close by, including Lighthouse Beach. He has a great and convenient outdoor shower and grill. There are common areas with hammocks and tables and chairs. We will be back!

Fabulous Stay at Tarpon Tale Inn in Sanibel!

We recently spent 4 nights, September 2023. The BEST experience! From the second we parked, we were welcomed as family. Joe went above and beyond to assure we had everything we needed. Instant response to texts, knowledgeable of the island, where to go and when for the best experience. Newly remodeled after Ian, the work that has been done is top notch. Even the parking spaces have been hand made. It was remodeled with love and it shows. Fresh towels daily, all amenities you could need, a safe, beautiful place to stay. We will definitely be back as soon as possible! Thanks, Joe!

I was lucky to spend four days in perhaps the most loving Inn in perhaps the most beautiful place in Florida. The Birdhouse may be the smallest appartment at the Inn, but I wanted for nothing. Everything is tastefully furnished, in top condition and the whole Inn is run with love. Joe is helpful and always approachable. On top of that, there are practical beach and shell tools at your disposal.
I return home well rested and will be back as soon as I can.

We came down to Sanibel to celebrate my girlfriends birthday and words cannot describe the memories created here. Thank you for the incredible experience we had during our stay. Your attention to detail and the cozy atmosphere you provided made our trip truly exceptional. It was evident that you went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay for us. I am also thankful for the unexpected and generous upgrade received. It was such a delightful gesture, and we truly appreciated the extra space and amenities (beach chairs, caddy, umbrella, extra towels).

Throughout our stay, we were continually impressed by your prompt and helpful communication. Your recommendations for local attractions and dining options added an extra layer of enjoyment to our trip. Your passion for hospitality was evident in every interaction we had, and it made a significant impact on our overall experience.

Lovely place & will be back!

Very new, clean, comfortable room.  Beautiful outside area to relax and hang out.  Bikes are included and are very fun and useful for getting around the island.  Just a couple minutes to walk to the beach.  Chairs, umbrella, and cart are also here to use.  Definitely recommend and will be back.
