My wife and I stayed in a beachfront condominium (1B1) at Sandalfoot for one-week ending on Monday, September 26, 2022.  On Wednesday of that week, Hurricane Ian struck Sanibel Island.

During our stay, we found the staff to be outstanding.  We had a small maintenance issue that was taken care of immediately.  Our unit was very nice and clean, with new appliances in the kitchen.  During our stay the property was very quiet.  The location on E. Gulf Drive was convenient.

Realizing that the effects of Ian on the island have been devasting, we pray that all who work and reside there are safe, and that the recovery will be quick.

Vacation at Sanibel Island

Our first stay at this location and did not disappoint. Great location, great accommodations and great staff!  We loved the smaller footprint and our condo had a great view of the Gulf. This resort is on the "quieter" side of the Island but well within walking/biking to the restaurants and shops. We will be back again at this location.

Place to Stay!

This was our first visit to Sanibel Island to celebrate our birthdays. We were overwhelmed with the cleanliness everywhere . Sandalfoot 2D3 was as the summary states “meticulously” decorated. It is a short walk to the pool and beach. The condo was loaded with everything we needed and was spotless! Bring a shell bag and scoop for all the beautiful shells you will find. Great restaurants nearby!!!! The Sanibel Lighthouse is about a mile walking on the beach. Bring shoes to walk the beach!!! Very relaxing!!! We will be back for sure!!

This has got to be one of the best accommodations on the island and we had the best room (1A3).  We had an almost 180-degree unobstructed view of the beach, and the water was so warm and enjoyable.  Room had all amenities needed for a great vacation.  Staff very friendly; would highly recommend!

Best place to stay!

We had gone frequently to Sanibel when our children were small, but had not been back in over 15 years and thought this would be a great place to celebrate my husbands New Years birthday. Wonderful location, clean and well-equipped unit on the gulf with an easy check in process made this an amazing trip for my husband and me. The Sandalfoot staff was very friendly and helpful and answered our questions and made dining recommendations. 
We rented 5C1, a 2 bedroom, so in addition to the porch facing the beach, our bedroom window also faced the gulf so we could hear the waves at night.   It was a first floor unit so we could walk right to the beach and had minimal noise from upstairs neighbors. Laundry facilities were convenient. The weather cooperated and we were able to ride bikes, walk and sun on the beach everyday. We swam in the ocean and enjoyed the show the dolphins put on offshore!

Can’t wait to go back!

We’ve stayed here many times, and are just back from a wonderful two weeks. Our condo was spotlessly clean and well-equipped. The grounds are beautiful. We love the view of the Gulf.  This year we had a family emergency during our stay, and the office staff were so helpful with printing out forms,etc. we have already booked for next year

Another great visit!

We LOVE sanibel. This is our 5th visit. 
Check-in was not good. We got there at 4:15pm and the office was already closed. Had to call the after hours number which They said “they should be there as it’s not 5pm already”. Nonetheless- they weren’t and had to use the lockbox.
The room was UNACCEPTABLE.
Not clean- film on the floor, bugs behind bathroom door (which we’re still present after we allowed the cleaning crew to come back and clean AGAIN), bugs in the bathtub, dead spider on baseboard of kitchen, crumbs on floor and around the kitchen table (between glass top and frame). And no trash bags were left- which they brought up 2 when they came to “re-clean”
What we did- found a vacuum and re-vacuumed the condo, attempted to wash the floor with a towel, wiped off counters/table. I had three young kids with me and this was unacceptable.
Needs fixes- the master shower had mold in the corner and dripped constantly throughout our stay. They fixed it by slowing the drip and turning the drain so it wasn’t as loud.
The main bathroom (has bugs and sand in it when we came) and the stopper for the tub wouldn’t work and the water drained super slow. We had 3 kids (4 and under) and were unable to bathe them. Their fix- bring in another stopper. 
We had 5 people unannounced come up to our room at various times. We scheduled the plumber after 3:30 one day and were called back to say that we had to do it the next day. At that point, we were tired of juggling around our schedule for our trip to allow them to maintenance the unit as it should’ve been BEFORE we arrived. 
We were given a $50 gift card to the lighthouse cafe which hardly made up for the inconvenience.

ALSO- the day before I left- one of the maintenance guys was fixing something in their garage on the side of the check-in building. He was using a grinder and the disk broke and flew off towards my children and I. No apology. The other maintenance man was surprised and said “what was that”. He casually explained “the disk broke”. My children or I could’ve been seriously injured by his carelessness. 

DONT STAY HERE. But definitely come to Sanibel. It’s lovely and the people are wonderful and friendly!

Not Clean, problems the whole stay

When we arrived at Sandalfoot and our room did not appear that it was fully cleaned. Beds were made but the floor was dirty with bugs and hair, the kitchen table had a crevice between the glass and the frame that had tons of food in it, and there was hair in the shower. We had 3 little ones under 4, (one that was one and crawled on the floor)that had played on the beach and when we went to bathe them, the tub was dirty and the drain stopper did not work and had obviously not been working for some time. We also had no trash bags and to top it off the master shower dripped all night long. Called management, Julie, and she was very pleasant and apologetic and ran up trash bags, 2 Beach towels to use and 2 gift cards for a total of $50.00. She said someone would be up to look at the plumbing issues and she would set a cleaning crew to clean the floors and bathrooms for the next day. Julie arranged for the cleaning ppl to clean while we were gone and someone removed the broken drain and put a rubber stopper in the bathtub drain so that would could use the tub. When we returned the floor was cleaner but they missed the bugs behind the bathroom door and someone slowed the leak in the shower, but did not fix it. They would have to call a plumber to fix the problem. The next day another person showed up to look at the shower and said a plumber would be there to fix at 2:30. So we got ready to leave and no show. Got a call later to tell us it would be he next day. We were sick of changing our schedule around for issues that should have been handled previously. We had a total of 5 strangers in our place. The manager, Julie, said twice that she would check with the owner and see if she could reduce the weekly charge but if course we never heard from her. For 1800.00/week I would think that the place would have no issues and $50.00 hardly compensates the inconvenience and disappointment. We have been to Sanibel 5 times and have never had any issues with our lodging, so this is a first. Disappointed to say the least and I would not recommend this place.

Would not recommend it cleanliness is important

Sanibel Island is lovely. 
The condominium where we stayed was dirty. We arrived on a weekend when there were no staff and the office was closed until Monday morning. We spent the first hour cleaning. Sticky surfaces, likely spilled food, in the kitchen and on the bedside tables. A slight, but noticeable smell of urine. The upholstery was so dirty, we had to put down clean towels in order to sit. 
When Monday arrived, we told the office, and the response was “It shouldn’t  have been like that.” No apologies or offer to move us (the place was full).

Would not recommend

Wonderful views of the gulf!  Beautiful grounds and not too big. Even during a very busy Easter week, you could usually find a chair at the pool. On the East end of the island, which makes it close to everything.  Bike rental and management office on site. Elevators in every building. Very clean! Covid disinfected. Our condo (3C3) was newly updated and decorated! A great place for families or couples!
