Skip the hotel chains if you enjoy eclectic lodging like Ranola,  Our room was essentially a small efficiency apartment with full kitchen , lots of seating, comfortable bed, plenty of space in a vintage Art Deco setting with fun art and dramatic looking doors.  The room air conditioner was just fine and the place was very quiet despite its urban location, even our first floor room.  Easy, safe walk to all the restaurants on Main Street.   Free private parking on the property.  HBO.

Comfortable, fun, charming, historic

Hotel Ranola was the perfect place for NYE! We had a very spacious King apartment with a full kitchen and living room. Everything was clean and in a deco style. The bed was very comfortable with soft linens. Pedro was very helpful and the location was perfect. We walked downtown, to WholeFoods, and to the Marina easily.
Another bonus was the private parking lot out back!
We recommend this hotel that feels more like home, than a hotel room😊

Happy New Year!

As a frequent traveler, I highly recommend staying at Hotel Ranola if you’re visiting Sarasota. It has a Havana vibe and tons of charm. The manager, Pedro, is an amazing host helping guests with suggestions for the area. We made a really good decision to upgrade to the one bedroom apartment. It was so comfortable and spacious. The king size bed is moderate in firmness and comfortable, and the apartment had all the kitchen essentials as well as a cool cocktail bar set up. We honestly did not want to leave and continue to our next Florida destination. Don’t forget your favorite bath bomb to enjoy the huge bathtub.

Wonderful retreat

Hotel Ranola is like a 2nd home to us.Due to a medical emergency with our son we found ourselves in Sarasota seeking affordable accommodations and we found this gem. The people at Ranola are fantastic and made our stay so comfortable.Thank you Pedro, Nongluck, and Carol. Your kindness, concern, and hospitality will never be forgotten.  The rooms are super clean and comfortable. We can only sing praises for this little haven away from home. We have been at the Ranola on and off for 7 weeks now. We are going to miss it. Love this place

We were there for a family medical issue and wanted to be close to the hospital.  This was a perfect location, it was an easy short drive to the hospital. Pedro and the other staff were very accommodating, and went out of their way to help us in any way possible. We were scheduled to be their 4 nights and they were able to accommodate us for one additional with no problem. We were very appreciative. The hotel is nice and quiet with a great private parking area.  The room was super clean, and well kept. The kitchenette was super to have as well. We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Ranola and we would stay again and highly recommend.

Excellent place to stay in downtown Sarasota

This hotel is full of charm.  The suite included a sitting area, kitchen, dressing room along with sleeping area.  While honouring the original aspects of the architecture, there is a funky quality to how it is decorated which adds to the charm.  

After 3 nights at the Ranola, I stayed at a conventional hotel in another city. It felt so sterile and boring by comparison.  The Ranola was very clean and had all of the supplies available to enjoy a meal at the kitchen cruiser table.  Bottles of water were supplied daily if needed.

The bed was comfortable and there was no sound carry from other rooms.  The window air-conditioner and fans kept the room temperature cool.

Staff were friendly and made the stay feel welcoming.  Thank you Pedro and Nongluck. The location is ideal for anyone visiting downtown Sarasota and the surrounding area. 

If you want slick and modern, this is not the hotel for you. But if you want something different, well-kept, charming, cosy and funky and in a great location,this hotel ticks all the boxes. I would be happy to stay here again. I recommend it highly.


Charming Hotel in Great Location 

Ranola is a well-maintained 1920's hotel in downtown Sarasota. My accommodation included a large bedroom, kitchen, bath, desk, sofa, and walk-in closet. Plenty of towels, toiletries, complimentary coffee and bottled water. Friendly staff, excellent Wi-fi and very reasonable. I would stay again.

Charming Hotel in the Heart of Sarasota

This place is located near the heart of downtown, making walking to everything a breeze. It is so charming, we only wish the bedroom decor matched the historic vibe of the rest of the hotel. The bed was unfortunately very stiff, but otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are spacious and clean. The owners made check-in very simple past 3pm, we had no issues whatsoever. Highly recommended!

Lovely boutique hotel

Went to Sarasota for the First Watch Half-Marathon with a group of friends. Most stayed at the Hyatt but another adventurous couple and we opted for a boutique hotel. We were pleasantly surprised. The other couples room was a bit smaller but we had a suite with a separate sleeping area. The amenities includedflat screen tvs(we had 2), a kitchen and eating area. They had great personal care products, bottled water and excellent linens. Interior and exterior doors were all card keyed and halls and exterior had surveillance cameras. Parking was onsite and free.

Staffing was from early am with room service availavle until 3pm. The manager lived onsite and was available after 3pm for emergencies. Housekeeping staff were friendly and accommodating. Even told us how to use washers(new front loads)after hours.

Now I will tell you it is old but charming with a bit of flair in the decorating. If you are a person that needs an updated hotel this may not be for you. Property is clean but I repeat old( no elevators). It is a 1926 apartment building in progress of being updated. There are only 9 rooms. AC units are window mounts.

It is within walking distance of many of the main street eateries. Great weekend farmer's market. Lots of night life nearby. Like any other big city use common sense after dark. 

Would I stay here again? Yes, planning on next year already.

Hidden gem.

The hotel is an older building. There's a history of the building in the front hall. Rooms are large. Bathroom a bit small (had to squeeze to close the door). Bit of wear and tear visible.  Bed was very comfortable. Plus free parking! The lady that checked us in was very nice. I would recommend this hotel just keep your expectations in check.
