This is a nice little motel and the owners are very friendly. My only minor complaint is the shower is small. The room is small but there is still plenty of room to move. Great spot for Wi-Fi too. OK.

See all of the 5 star reviews! Any problems are on the renter as this caring and sweet family addressed our needs within an appropriate time. They are attentive and open minded communicators. Sweet and creative family run motel. Reminds me of the mom-pop run motels that my family stayed in while traveling I95 in the 60s and 70s .  Comfortable, affordable, and pride of ownership!

Updated Vintage Motel with a  60s and 70s Vibe but Modern!

My husband gave me this trip home to Maine, so I'm reviewing it. As an older retired person, I was looking for a central location for my cousin and I to take a 5day road trip down the coast of Maine from Belfast to Rockport. I recalled this motel from my youth and was surprised it was still there. I personally called the owner, who was so personable over the phone, answered all of my questions, so I booked two Queen rooms for late Aug. early Sept. We were not disappointed, as the rooms were exceptionally clean, cheerful, well furnished with everything we needed with great friendly service on premises. The sweet family who owns this motel have put a lot of love into it. It has seven units with their living quarters attached. Each room has a nice roomy apt. fridge and microwave, both very clean. The Queen bed was so comfortable too. I slept like a Queen!  Fraser and Zulilah, "the Kids" as I called them, even went out of their way to make sure I had my music on my phone with their WIFI and accommodated all of my needs with a smile. They make sure you have good suggestions of where to dine from their own personal experiences along with a suggestion list, which I appreciated. Within 30 minutes, North or South of the Merrybell, we were easily at our destinations to site see, eat or shop. Grocery stores close by too for all your needs. Nearby, Bayside Village which is in the town of Northport has a pier to enjoy, can get in your walk or enjoy Kelly's Cove, Saturday Cove for swimming too. You can even explore Temple Heights, a historical Spiritualists Lodge and meeting place just a short drive from the motel on Shore Rd., all are welcome to come and get a reading. This was 
one of our favorite places on the trip.  Feel so fortunate that I was able to book our rooms as they appear to be quite booked up and no wonder. This stay made our "cousins" road trip complete and so memorable. Thank you from both of us.

Just can't say enough great things about this refurbished retro motel!

I hate to give this place a 2 but read on. We stayed in room 2 and it had 2 twin beds. 
The good first…
In being clean I give it 5 stars….
It was the beds…
It gets zero stars.
Hard as a rock with nothing on top that was soft.
Both myself and my friend were soooo stiff in the morning we could not move.
Unreal as to why this property would go to the trouble to make the rooms nice and have a 50.00 mattress in it. 100.00 a night was avg in the area.

Clean rooms but the beds…🤦‍♂️

The rooms are very small, prepping one for a 'tiny house'; but clean and fun.  A good value.  The Couple who live and run the place and customer oriented.

We enjoyed our stay and intend to return someday.

Pet Friendly Cute Little Motel

My job put me in hundreds of motels and hotels and I always preferred the ma and pa motels for their quirkiness and friendliness and down-home feeling. Merrybell delivers on all three of these. The always smiling owners live on site and their backyard, with its playful art and clusters of daffodils and even clusters of art, is your backyard too, as you're wel

comed to enjoy it. If you're lucky, you'll bump into the sweet family and have a chat. 

We enjoyed both a room and the cabin. If you land the latter, you'll enjoy its spaciousness and its own, little lot, so you're both part of the motel and removed. We spent the winter in that cabin, due to a months-long home renovation, and the rest of the motel was closed. 

I share this anecdote to illustrate the character of the innkeepers: They were in Europe at the time and the cabin's water pump failed. Fraser and Zulilah sprang into action, contacting us twice everyday and securing the manpower and machinery to dig into that rock hard earth and replace the well. Then they generously offered to refund our money for that stretch and then some. 

You're unlikely to lose power, but if you stay at Merrybell, you won't lose out on the charming details, such as wainscoting in the bathrooms, painted a cheery blue, the abundant hot water, the modern bedding, and the happy exterior with the little porches and flowerbeds. Staying here for months, we saw how hard Fraser works at continually updating and upgrading the motel and you couldn't ask for a better location, as Merrybell sits between our two favorite towns, Belfast and Camden. 

However, once you've been to Camden and Belfast, stay close to home one evening, cross the road, and enjoy a stroll through sleepy Northport, which has the sea and its islands, manicured homes, and friendly folks who'll hail you with a wave and smile. It's the Northport way, so make your way to Northport.

Best of the old and best of the new

Older but well kept and clean motel.  Very nice owners committed to making your stay enjoyable.  Upon arrival you'll receive a list of local restaurants and places to pick up groceries and other supplies.  The motel is located along a busy highway so expect some traffic noise.

Nice motel with helpful, friendly owners

This place is a winner. Reasonable for the area. Pleasant in all ways. It's an updated motel with a modern vibe. So many little details have been considered - including earplugs if you have trouble with the road noise since it's right on the road! Electric strip for all your recharge gadgets. Good coffee free in the lounge but can also be made n the room. College dorm fridge. Bathroom on the small side. So clean. Loved this pace so much we returned this year. Run by caring couple. 

Second time visit

Stayed here on August 23. Merrybell was cozy, extremely clean, very reasonably priced, and the owner was very sweet and friendly. It felt good to give support to a local small family rather than a big chain hotel. We didn’t need that to be comfortable.

Merry time at Merrybell

I was off to get away for the weekend and stayed at the Merrybell Motel, a very nice, quaint little motel right off the highway. Genuinely loved the cottage-like feeling even though my room was not a cottage. Checked in fast, enjoyed the area and even though the people next to me were loud snorers and smoked outside blowing smoke in through my window, I overlooked the inconveniences. I won't hold that on the business, as that's not in their control. I stayed mostly in the room and relaxed, having taken my first vacation since last August, I just wanted some solitude and decompression time. I believe I dealt with Fraser? Super nice, helpful when it came to exploring and finding out what was in the area, and friendly. If I were to suggest anything, it would be no smoking unless it's in a designated area on the grounds so people aren't blowing smoke into other's windows. I'll recommend the Merrybell to everyone I know so they can enjoy a nice, relaxing weekend or vacation on the midcoast!
