This place could be a real treat if properly managed and marketed. Rooms are really nice. Location is ideal if you are splitting time between Ridgway-Ouray and Telluride and surrounding areas. Out away from the traffic of Telluride. A nice secluded spot. A balcony room can accommodate those that may smoke. Staffing is limited--so if you are looking for a "hotel experience" this may not be your place. If you are looking for reasonable prices, away from traffic and great base of operations for you activities--then this is a great place to stay for a night or two.

A missed opportunity

We stayed her because telluride was pretty much sold out. We were so happy we did. It is about 20 minutes from Telluride, but we were going to Ridgeway, so one the way. 
The room was great, nice size room, bathroom and a patio to sit outside. It's off the main road, but quite in the back. 
The restaurant/bar was wonderful. We did take out to eat in the room and really good. They offer breakfast with the price of room. Great breakfast and large sitting area inside and out.
A really great place to stay up in the area.

Wonderful Inn and restaurant

Loved it! The staff was amazing, food was great! Would love to go back again sometime. Wasn't very far from the ski resort. Well worth the drive to stay here in this quite quaint inn. Plenty of parking too!

Beautiful Inn

We stayed here two nights with a child and pet. We were surprised that the restaurant, bar and breakfast were closed due to the hotel being up for sale. Regardless the hotel was clean and cute. Nice little garden. Great bbq down the road at Sawpit.
Recommend this place the price is definitely right.

Great bargain in the area

My husband, English Bully, and I drove from Denver to Telluride for a two night stay at this cozy, quiet Inn tucked up against rocky ridges/mountain peaks.  Although 12 miles from Telluride, it was a great deal at $140/night with dog, full bathroom, patio, refrigerator, DirectTV, WiFi, and a clean room, and 1/4 mile from an off-leash county dog park with trails.  AND 9 inches of fresh snow which made the place into a winter wonderland.   Only criticism is their cook quit so no continental breakfast or dinner service, which meant an evening drive for dinner in Telluride.  

Affordable ski weekend in Telluride

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night on a recent trip to Telluride.  It is a good price relative to the options in Telluride and a pretty quick 20-25 minute drive into town.  The rooms and property location are really nice and it has potential to be a great spot.  When we were there it seemed relatively shut down.  They had everything closed and had nobody working the front desk at any point.  It also appeared they were not providing room cleaning.  I think the property is for sale and maybe once the new owners take over it will provide a more welcoming atmosphere.

Peaceful spot, did not see an employee during our entire stay

Nice location outside Telluride. They do accept pets, and there’s a great county park across the road and north of the hotel, where dogs can be off leash. Our room was clean and large, with sliding door opening out to a small grassy area (not fenced on all sides).

But expensive! The only pet-friendly room that was available ended up costing us $260 including tax. That is a LOT of money to pay for a merely OK hotel, even in this area. The breakfast buffet seemed to consist mostly of uninspiring food from Costco, plus waffles. For example, in peach season it would be great to have a basket of fresh Colorado peaches, instead of a pre-made citrus fruit salad. The hotel has a full kitchen, restaurant and bar but they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. There is nothing else close by, so you have to drive into Telluride for dinner. The entire place has an odd atmosphere, as if no one is really there to take care of it. The few staff are pleasant and helpful, but it feels a bit neglected. I wouldn’t go back there.

Expensive but pet friendly

We felt ripped off. Management advertises this property with photos of a charming lodge with warm lights, fire pit, candles, etc. The reality is that this place has been for sale for a number of years, the restaurant is closed, housekeeping is limited to three days a week, and the front desk is only open from 9am-2pm - although it's often left unstaffed because the front desk folks are also the housekeepers. 

The rock wall around the former outside dining area is crumbling apart. The property is poorly lit at night, contrary to the photos on their website. I've attached a photo of what it actually looked like at night. The icemaker was broken and leaked all over the carpet, resulting in a moldy/mildewy smell. The next day, we noticed that housekeeping had stacked clean towels on the hallway floor (gross) on the wet carpet (extra gross) - see attached picture.

The sad thing is that you could tell this was once a well loved property. It still has that potential - it's in a scenic location, the lodge is beautiful, and the rooms have been updated. The walls do need some artwork - they are oddly bare - and the shower curtains need to be replaced, but those are easy fixes. If properly maintained, this place would definitely be worth the money. I hope someone buys this property and gives it the TLC it deserves. Right now it feels like something between a ghost town and an Airbnb. With the skeletal service and staff it currently has, this place shouldn't be marketed as a hotel.

A missed opportunity for sure.

Misleading

There is no staff, literally not once did I see any staff from this property. Multi-night stay, not once was the room cleaned. The bathroom was dirty upon arrival. The sidewalks were not cleared of snow. The parking lot was not lit up. The "clean" linens were stored on the floor. The sheets don't fit the bed. The comforter did not have a duvet. The restaurant is boarded up. The walls are paper thin.

 · There was a huge snow storm on the dates I was supposed to travel, the storm had the interstate shut down, and caused over 300 accidents in the area, and when I called to tell them I wouldn't be able to make my stay because of the weather they laughed at me and told me the weather was not their fault and refused to cancel my reservation, they charged me full price for the room. They were rude and demeaning or I would have rescheduled my stay. Pathetic to treat potential customers this way these people don't deserve the business.
