I think people expect too much from these Jersey Shore hotels. You want a place with frette linen, go to Manhattan. We stayed four days at the Desert Palm Inn and had a good time. The room was pretty small but it had everything we needed, including a king sized bed, refrigerator and microwave. The room looked like it had been recently painted and the bathroom fixtures appeared new. Thankfully the AC worked well, too. The pool was warm and clean, and there were barbecue grills you could use. The beach is across the street; Sawmill a couple of blocks away. What's not to like? 

NIce stay

Passing through the area, we just needed a place to stay for a night. Hotels along our route were charging $200, but we found this place for around $50. After getting checked in by the surly manager, we found our room doing double duty as a storage area, with bins and cleaning supplies between the beds. We got an upgrade to another room, which was clean enough but showed its age. Being the off season, there weren’t many other guests, but those we encountered were definitely interesting characters.

Off Season Cheap and Sleazy

Just got back from vacation at the Desert Palm Inn and had a great stay. The location of this hotel is just fantastic. It is right across the street from the beach. You can leave your room and be on the beach in about 2 minutes. It is about 3 short blocks from the boardwalk also. Which is great that you can enjoy the boardwalk in seaside heights but yet go back to your hotel in seaside park which is quiet and peaceful. 

We get the same room each year that has a nice extended balcony area with a table and chairs , great for having morning bloody Mary’s, or eating lunch , or people watching while having a beer while getting ready to go out at night. Our room has 2 double beds, plenty of drawer space,  a nice size fridge and freezer, bigger then most places we have stayed at. Air conditioner that keeps the room nice and cold, it’s a little loud but it drowns out any outside noise. The shower is small but has plenty of hot water. They also have a nice size heated pool. There is a gas grill poolside if you want to cook food. Before COVID hit they had a little breakfast bar with a waffle maker, mini bagels, doughnuts, coffee and juice. I sure hope they bring that back as soon as they can.

One of the best things about this place is the friendly manager named Raj. He is there 24 /7 to help you with anything you need. Das is the General Manager that stops in a couple times a day to check on things and is also very friendly.  They treat us like family and are a great customer service team, it’s what keeps us coming back year after year. The place is clean and have never had a problem that they could not take care of. 

I do not know why there are a lot of negative comments on trip advisor about this place. It is a hotel in Seaside, not the Four Seasons and guests need to realize that. Car parking spaces are small, there is not maid service everyday and I am sure there are other things you can pic apart this place, but they give you fresh towels everyday and take out your trash. If your looking for a clean place, with a great location and friendly management, you need to to try this place out.  If you give it a try, you will be back again, I know we will. Thanks Raj and Das , we had another great stay again this year.

Great week at the Desert Palm Inn

I've stayed at many subpar motels (this is not an "inn") and have a good sense of humor in dealing with the different crapinesses of these so called establishments.  If management, owners, staff, are decently friendly, no worries.  But the guy behind the desk at this place was SCAREY.  We asked for an extra key card at check in and he said "NO!"  The sign at the pool says "Ask permission to use pool".  We asked and he said "NO!".  Maybe he was using tough love, and saving us from urinary tract infection.  My teen son locked his key in the room and my other son with the other key card wasn't here; I asked if we could be let into the room, and got yelled at before he would let us into the room.   He's like a really mean uncle or landlord.  I would wait until he wasn't around before I would get ice.  Good location.  Wouldn't stay again.

WE'RE ALL SCARED OF THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK

First let me start off by saying I have been staying at Seaside my whole life. So I was not expecting the Hamptons or anything.

2. It was raining into the room through the top of the door but we were on the middle floor...guess water from upstairs walk way 
3. No continental breakfast which was part of the booking
4. Screens all had holes in them
5. beds were dirty
6. Broken glass all over the parking lot
7. the bathroom garbage was not empty (DISGUSTING)
8. There were used towels in a ball on the shelf 

However, I think what bothered me the most was how the feedback was handled. I was very nice as I know businesses are struggling to find help. I didn't ask for money back or anything. I just said "hey I want to give you a heads up that the trash wasn't taken out or towels prior to checking in" HE WALKED AWAY!!!! Not one single word....SMIRKED and walked away!! Not "hey we are short-staffed and I'm really sorry"

NEVER EVER AGAIN- We would stay in our car before staying here. If the room was $25 a night I wouldnt stay again.

Disgusting and handling of feedback even worse

I am 68 years old and have stayed at many, many hotels.  I honestly think this was the worst.  Absolutely filthy room, trash, bugs, ants on sheets, TV was only a screen size 22” high in air and only had one channel.  Window unit A/C was loud and quit working at 2 AM on an 80 degree night.  Floor was covered with sand and sheets obviously hadn’t been changed.  Blood stain on floor and cigarette burns in comforter.  Falling down ancient Venetian blinds at windows, which couldn’t be closed to keep out early morning light.  We put blankets over them The bathroom was filthy and so small you could barely sit on the toilet.  Shower was tiny snd dirty.  The one bed blocked the only closet (not that we would’ve used it.)  The brochure says continental breakfast included.  We couldn’t imagine where this would be, as there was no restaurant and the office was tiny with the owners cot where I guess he slept!  We went down in morning after barely sleeping and asked about the advertised continental breakfast.  Manager yelled “no continental breakfast” as we approached the door.  He did add a quiet “sorry.”  Dilapidated “Tiki Bar” at a corner of the parking lot, obviously never used for a long time.  We should’ve left when the check in guy asked which room we want, take our pick—-not typical for a hot summer day across the street from the ocean.  Also when we saw the can of Raid ant and roach killer on the front desk!  On a hot summer day, we were one of two cars in the parking lot!

The pool was nice and the location was excellent, but those are the only positives.  Brochure says “recently renovated.”  Can’t imagine what that means!

This place truly should not be allowed to be in business. Cannot even give it a 1.

Disgusting hotel

The desert palm in was disgusting. My rooms window was broken when I arrived. WAY OVERPRICED. The owner called me a f***ing a**hole and was screaming at 12 o’clock at night waking up his guests. NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE. IF I COULD RATE IT NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Please please do not stay here. For your own safety do not stay here. There were blood and urine stains on the sheets, black mold, filth on the mattress and box spring, and incredibly rude management. Not one worker was wearing a mask either. I have tried to speak to the owner-Das Patel but he keeps saying he is not available (even though I am sure I’m talking to him) He could have a nice place as the location is across the street from the beach but the health hazards are not worth the location.

The most horrible experience ever

I am a little late writing my review of the Desert Palm Inn this year. We just love this hotel in seaside park. Clean rooms, Great location but the reason we come back year after year is the friendly service we receive from Raj the manager and Das the General Manager. Raj is there 24/7 to help you out with anything you need and is a friendly great guy. Das stops by several times a day to check on the hotel and its guests. We arrived early, check in time is 2 pm but our favorite room was ready for us to check in at 11:30 am. It’s nice to be able to check in early and get your belongings into your room. 
They have free beach badges for guests staying at least 2 nights. There is a 50.00 deposit per beach badge that you need to pay in cash so budget for this. Saves us a lot of money when the beach charges 10.00 a day for access to beach.

The hotel is located right across the street from the beach so you can literally be on the beach in 3 minutes. It is also about 2 blocks to the boardwalk from the hotel. Our morning routine was to get up, have a Bloody Mary on the balcony and then go down for the free continental breakfast. Coffee, O.J., mini bagels,doughnuts and make your own waffles. No need to leave the hotel for breakfast, saving you time and money. 

We would come back from the beach for lunch and a few cold beers and enjoy sitting out on the balcony watching the people come and go. They have a nice size pool to cool off in. On our last day we had the pool to ourselves. At night we would walk to the boardwalk for drinks and boardwalk food. Great sitting on a bench and people watching. It’s nice being close to the boardwalk but being able to stay in quiet seaside park.

Rooms had microwave, good size fridge and freezer, plenty of drawers for your clothes and a nice size closet. Had a flat screen TV with plenty of stations. The bathroom and shower are on the small side but very clean. Hotel has a ice machine which was great for keeping beverages cold for the beach. 

If your looking for a clean hotel with a great location, this is the place to stay. The customer service is Excellent. Thanks Raj and Das for another great stay!

Another Great Stay at the Desert Palm Inn

I booked a room 2 days in advance immediately got an email confirmation. The following night I get an email that my Resv had been canceled due to an error processing my payment. I immediately call the hotel,the person (man), who answered was the rudest, most insulting person I've spoken to in many years. And I've worked in customer service for 29 years. I tried to give him my name and my payment info and he didn't want to hear it. He just said come tomorrow, BYE and hung up!! I called back
 and then tells me that it's busy and the rate went up, BYE and again hangs up!! This is a first for me involving booking a hotel. Not sure if this gentleman was having a really bad day, doesn't excuse the rude behavior. He lost a possible future customer, permanently. :(
