Pat and Dennis have a lovely B & B. They have everything you might need. We loved taking the canoe out and found the informational videos helpful. Breakfast was good. Really loved the build your own trail mix station. Will stay again next time we visit Seward.

Lovely Stay

My friend and I had a wonderful experience staying at Bear Lake Lodgings for 4 nights in mid Sept. We were in the Lakeside suite which was super comfy and spacious. The daily breakfasts were very tasty and lovingly prepared. The location was great, just outside the city of Seward but close enough to all the sights.

The best thing about our stay were the owners Pat and Dennis who were super sweet and friendly. They had lots of fantastic tips for things to do, little tidbits and places to eat around the area which was invaluable.  It was so lovely chatting to both of them after a day of sight-seeing, it really felt like a home away from home. 

The b&b is located right on Bear Lake and they have kayaks you can take out on the lake and the views are amazing!

We started out  with iffy weather the first 2 days of the trip but it cleared out towards the last 2 days and it was glorious!  We ended off with a glacier cruise that had been postponed the last 2 days because of inclement weather and Pat very kindly gave us hand warmers to prep us for the cold wind on the boat. Just one of the many thoughtful things she did.

Fantastic b&b and lovely hosts

What an amazing B&B set in a rare setting. Fabulous float plane lake with dock and canoes for guests use. 

My room was immaculate and the bed was very comfortable. The hosts are so accommodating and knowledgeable about the area activities. 

I felt welcomed and at home. 

Experience Seward in a home that makes you feel like family.

Pat and Dennis are the best hosts!  And the house was just gorgeous… the setting, rooms, and all the activities you can do right from the backyard is just endless.  
Loved that each room had its own bathroom and the beds were so dreamy.  Pat made wonderful breakfast and fun hotdog roasts by the fire with ridiculously amazing roasted marshmallows with chocolate and peanut butter!  I probably should have taken more opportunity to hike and work off all those calories🤔
Would definitely recommend this B&B and hope to go back soon!

Best B&B in all of Alaska

The B& B was outstanding.  The beds were comfortable and the rooms were cozy and clean. The breakfasts  were super yummy, diverse and homemade.  The B & B is very close to the town of Seward.  

The view of the lake was incredible with kayaks available and a youtube video of how to get in and out of the kayak safely and without getting wet.  Pat also had a map of the lake which showed the best place to see a ton of bald eagles and salmon trying to get upstream. 

The Bear Creek Fish Weir is just down the road and Pat also has video explaining the fish story about the Salmon which is super interesting.

So much to see in Seward with many shops and restaurants to choose from. There is a museum and a really nice and updated Visitor Center.  Exit Glacier is also located close to town and is a must see.  It’s a short two mile round trip hike to see the glacier up close. Perfect for all ages.  Free parking, bathrooms and a Nature Center.

She also directed us to Millers Landing where we took a water taxi to hike on Caines Head where we hiked to WWII Fort McGilvray.  There were a few old buildings still standing. Super cool.  Millers Landing had a cafe to get sandwiches to go or outdoor seating with plenty of hoteals to choose from.

Our last day Pat suggested Kenai Fjord Tours for an all day excursion to see Holgate Glacier and dinner at Fox Island on our way back from glacier.  The glacier was magnificent and our boat captain was amazing.  We had unforgettable views of the glacier and wildlife.   We saw whales bubble net feeding, sea lions sunning on the rocks, an otter and her baby floating in the middle of Aialik Bay and lots of birds including the beautiful Puffin seabird.

This trip was one of my most favorite trips and our hosts Dennis and Pat had everything to do with the success of the trip. 

One more thing if you fly into Anchorage the drive to Seward is incredible as well. So many views of the bays, lakes, mountain sides etc.  

The most unexpected vacation of my life

This trip was one of the most fun and memorable weeks of my life. Seward and the surrounding areas are stunning with so many fun activities to fill each day. 3 of my friends and I spent a week staying at Bear Lake Lodgings and found it to be the perfect place to start and end each day. The property is on a scenic lake, the rooms are awesome, and the owners Pat and Dennis are incredible hosts. They provided amazingly detailed explanations of all the best activities in Seward and helped us plan out a week packed with fun. The food was great as well! I will undoubtedly be returning with my family.

The service was incredible, the people were amazing and unbelievably hospitable, rooms were clean and spacious, and the location is right in the middle of it all. Easy access to rivers, mountains, lakes, hikes, the Bay, and cool town experience in Seward. Highly recommend Bear Lake Lodgings!

What an incredible week!

What a great find Bear lake Lodging was.  We (two of us) stayed downstairs, the room was spacious and was easily divided for privacy.  The bed was soooo comfortable and the linens, both bed and bath, were private-home quality.  Would definitely come back !

What a surprise!!

I couldn’t have been more pleased with my stay at Bear Lake Lodge. It was truly a five star experience, and if I come back to the area I will definitely stay here again. The house and location were beautiful, and the breakfast served each morning was always something to look forward too. I can’t thank Pat and Dennis enough for our stay.

Coming to Alaska was amazing, but the highlight of my trip was staying here. The home is beautiful, the views are even prettier. You feel so at peace listening to and watching the wildlife at Bear Lake; especially while kayaking or canoeing. The owners felt like family and gave us a great breakfast every morning! The location of the home is perfect; Seward is a quick drive away, and there are vast amounts of hiking trails, fishing spots, and local history all super close by. When I arrived, I was surprised to find a detailed binder full of potential activities that we could do. It outlined everything we needed to know and made it super easy to do! The owner even makes videos that you will see around the town with QR codes that give detailed explanation of things! The value of this place is amazing!! I hope to return soon!
