The lady that runs the place is super nice.  But the place is not for overnight travelers.  It is more of a place for shady people looking for a cheap long term place to live.  The rooms are very dated, and very unclean.  Cats and cat food all over the sidewalks.  Do not recommend this place.

Horrible experience 

My stay Affordable Suites was amazing! I came to this Affordable Suites due to an unfortunate family situation. Denise was amazing she made me feel so comfortable and safe, she was very polite and welcoming along with the prices being great! My suite was very clean and I was just amazed! Great up keep and staff. I want to thank Sonia as well! I would recommend aAffordable Suites to everyone I can.

A great stay!

I was pleasantly surprised at the great and affordable accommodations that I encountered when staying at Affordable Suites when spending time with my daughter who is a student at near-by Gardner Webb University.  Denise was so helpful, pleasant, and friendly.  She was like a caring mother on site.  She went out of her way to help me navigate a scheduling/booking challenge that hotels.com was not helpful with.  What a great help!  The hospitality team was also friendly and the rooms were spacious and very clean.  This spot is like a home away from home and will be my regular place to stay when in the area.  I had no issues and a great time.

Home Away From Home

The staff is great. Denise and Sara are very sweet! I came to Shelby for a summer job and needed a place to stay for a couple months. I was nervous at first because the town was unfamiliar and I was living on my own, but they helped me feel welcome and safe. The weekly room cleaning was great and I was able to feel at home pretty quickly.

Clean and friendly

First I want to give kudos to the manager Denise. She was such a nice lady and proved that southern hospitality still exists, as rare as it is. We we're moving to the area for work, and waiting for our house to become available to move in. In the meantime we needed a quite spot to relax after 9 hour days at work. This place was perfect. We stayed for almost a month. Previously we had stayed at the Woodspring Suites, not my best decision. My suggestion is to spend a little more money and stay at Affordable Suites, it got us a mini apartment that was super clean, quiet, with all amenities and all neighbors were respectful and peaceful too. Worth it! The location is perfect, close to everything you'll need, but still tucked away from traffic. Thank you for hosting us Denise! We truly enjoyed our time there.

Great Value, Southern Comfort

Our experience here was excellent!  Denise and her dedicated staff went above and beyond to make our stay warm and comfortable.  Our room was always kept exceptionally clean as was the entire facility.  Denise was always available when needed and was an exceptional host!  The staff was equally helpful and very, very pleasant!  We stayed here but we also created friends here!  Thanks Denise and Sonia for making our extended stay the best!

Excellent customer service!

This is the best hotel that I have EVER stayed in. I have stayed multiple times and for months at a time, and each visit feels like going home. The place is exceptionally clean, and the house keepers are so kind, caring, friendly, and understanding, as is the onsite live-in resident manager. It is also the quietest hotel I have ever stayed in. There is no after hours activity, not loud music, or people hanging out in the parking lot. I really feel safe when I stay here because it is always filled with good quality guests. I would rate this hotel above any of the others in Shelby, especially that dump of a hotel across the street. I am already looking forward to going back in the very near future just to relax and have a nice quite trip and some alone time. I might also mention that the place is 100% LGBT friendly, which really makes a big difference.

Rooms are large and comfortable. Very good hotel for longer stays, just remember there is no daily maid servive. It is cheaper than most local hotels. Convenient location, just off US 74. Friendly staff, quit area.

Good value

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Affordable Suites Shelby for close to 3 years.  Denise, Sandy, and Beth are professional in every way.  The unit is immaculate.  Denise, the Resident Manager, ensures a quiet and safe atmosphere for her quests.
I highly recommend this exceptional property.
