Located across the street from beautiful beach view & less then 10 minutes to town. Stayed in cabin B15. Quiet wooded lot & view out back. Was clean & nice decor minus the rug in bedrooms which didn’t bother me. Nice size kitchen, MB, living room & comfortable. Lots of hot water, towels & kitchen supplies. 
The downside is the 2nd bedroom loft ceiling is very low, less then 5 feet tall so you need to bend the whole time standing up & stairs are narrow & steep don’t see getting luggage up there. 
Bathroom can use a new toilet seat haven’t seen the soft cushion type in many years & a light cover is missing.
Check in staff were very friendly & helpful. We ate at the restaurant on property that was convenient & decent food. Cute place to stay & great location to local sites but definitely not fancy just so you know.

Rustic Cabin in great location

We stayed in ov3 for the weekend. We had a nice weekend exploring the beautiful beaches in the area and other interesting places. Stefanie’s restaurant has the best breakfast anywhere!!! The cabin was “meh” it was weirdly laid out and decorated. We found heavily soiled pillows and blankets in the closets. The bedspread was soiled and many of the dishes in the cupboard were dirty. Old milk in the fridge. Torn screens on the windows were taped up with clear tape! Bathtub was filthy used body wash left in shower.  Do not use signs on w/d. hot tub was kinda gross. The cover is shot and totally saturated making it very heavy to take off and worse to put back on. No cover lift! Two weird jets above water line that annoyingly and loudly spray into the air, no way to shut them off! Deck overlooks 101 and you can definitely hear and see cars racing by! Keep in mind that each cabin is individually owned so it’s the owners responsibility to maintain the property, but you would think that the management would have some rules in place where owners must abide by certain criteria. For the money we spent we were kinda disappointed. Probably will not stay there again unless we could inspect the cabin beforehand and decline without being charged! Only in an alternate world would that be possible!! ;)

Not quite worth the price

This resort got a rating of 2 instead of 1 only because the front desk people were friendly, & the bed was comfortable.  It’s our first & last stay there.  The house is a crazy layout, stained couch, dirty dishes & silverware.  A small outbuilding by the hot tub had a broken window & appeared very unkept.  The main large windows had a view of the hot tub & this outbuilding. Finding the OV at OV11 took some searching.  So disappointing.

Disappointing

I booked a weekend at Cabin I-7 for 3 friends and I in January and we had a good time after we dealt with getting the propane pilot light relit by the maintenance man. We had no heat, hot water or stove Friday night because housekeeping does not inform the office there was a notice from the propane service that the pilot light had to be lit. Once that was done, we enjoyed our spacious cabin very much. We hot tubbed, watched movies, walked on beaches, went out to eat, and had a wonderful time just relaxing. We enjoyed watching the sunset over the Pacific from the patio and the dining room. This cabin can sleep 8 and has 2 bathrooms. It is huge and beautifully upgraded throughout. Now that we know how to operate everything, we will stay in this cabin again. The queen bedroom is located in the garage and accessed from the deck. It doesn't have a bathroom, so you have to cross the deck and enter the main cabin by one of its several exterior doors. Perfect room for someone who snores or who needs more quiet or privacy. We used the foldaway bed in the laundry room (see photo) and were happy.

Girls Getaway 2023

Several family members rented places at Whaleshead Beach resort for a nearby wedding. The online pictures don't do this place justice! 3 out of 4 parties were VERY happy with their unit. (one was down below in the woods , where there isn't a view so choose carefully ) Our VIEW was SPECTACULAR in I-7. The home was spotless and had comfortable beds. The restaraunt is seperatley owned, and has really good food, but give yourself PLENTY of time, as they are not fast. Brookings was a great town with good places to eat, shop and play. Gold Coast was a disappointment, other than the pretty river. The beach is amazing, but you have to cross the busy highway to get there, I suggest driving unless you love walking steep hills. This whole area is STUNNING!!!!

Wow, better than expected, but...

Our group of seven rented a 3- bedroom (I-7). What a crazy layout. The master BR enters via the laundry room, or via a narrow kitchen hallway. How narrow? You have to turn sideways to get by the refrigerator. (Unless the fridge door is open, then you can’t get through. )  

The second BR has bunk beds shoehorned in. No free space to be had. The third BR has been carved from the garage. Separate entrance and no bath. Those lucky folks get to use the master bath, by going outside and reentering at the laundry room. 

On the plus side, all the appliances worked.

Don’t rent I-7

Beautiful ocean view cottages. The resort is charming. We stayed in unit U7 - it was clean, nicely decorated and every worked and was up to date. The units are individually owned so there are some inconsistencies between the units. Unit U7 was perfect - have already booked our next visit. Brookings is definitely a jewel of the Oregon Coast.

I booked a cabin and paid top dollar specifically because it had a hot tub. When I arrived, the hot tub was broken and they did not offer me a discount. I know that hot tubs can break, but if one of your main features is not available, I should be offered a discount. Also, the maintenance guy drives around on a 4-wheeler with no muffler and it is extremely loud. Why can't their maintenance guy get a muffler? PLEASE PUT A MUFFLER ON THAT ATV.

Put a muffler on your ATV and fix your hot tub

This is a run down slum for the rv park. Many full timers that don't care what their property or camping unit looks like.  Garbaage piled high on many sites.
The men's restroom is disgusting.  Never got cleaned or showers repaired in the 4 long days we were there.
Sites barely long enough for our 26 ft travel trailer.  Site landscaping was a mess. Hadn't been attended to in a long time. AND THEY HAD THE GAUL TO CHARGE $20 PER DAY FOR MY DOGS.  Dogs got bad stickers in their feet. Had to carry them away from our camping spot so they could go to the bathroom.

The beach wasn't easy access as advertised.  The road down advised a 4 wheel drive vehicle.

I wouldn't even tell my worst enemy to stay here.  

A total rip off.  One of the more expensive places we stayed in our 2 1/2 months on the road. HATED IT!

Management didn't know who the owner was.

Whaleshead RV Park

My wife and I have been on 4+ week road trip and booking this hotel was my biggest mistake. How can they call this a resort?
The entire property (except for Stephanie’s restaurant) is in shambles. From the looks of it, the outside of our cabin #C-15, hasn’t been cleaned up for all the many years of the place’s existence. Save your frustrations and book somewhere else.
