Don't believe any pictures or description. Other than the place is historic, hasn't been renovated or cleaned in recent history. There was garbage piled beside the building. The restaurant was closed because of leaks in the roof. The parking is across the street in an unlighted gravel parking lot. The courthouse is right next door with the county jail attached.

This place is a dump right next door to the county jail.

This place was not at all as advertised. There’s a difference between historical and just plain run down. The staff who are the obvious owners charged us more than the cancellation fee to cancel. Didn’t even bring a single item in and still had to pay for a waste of our time. The place smells very old. Understandable. Window A/C in the rooms. Parking is across a busy street and the small space to park in front to unload was being used by the owners. Felt uncomfortable the entire time checking in. I requested rooms close together and was given rooms at opposite ends. There were many rooms available that made more sense. There is no restaurant, no massage area, nothing that was stated Available on site was actually available. Don’t waste your time and money. The little cabin we ended up staying in just south of the Braun “Resort” was way better.

Don’t be fooled!

Hotsprings is a beautiful town that I found worth visiting. The hotel is a historic structure built during the first decades of the 20th century. It has a cosy small lobby well furnished in the colonial style. The staircase leading to the rooms has a special escalator for the disabled which is definitely a plus. The hotel incorporates a restaurant bar that serves decent food. The room that I stayed in was nicely furnished again in the colonial style. The bathroom had a steam bath a definite plus. 
Sheets and towels were clean. However the bath wasn't. The faucet on the sink did not function properly. There were dead insects around it. 
The main problem with this hotel is the management. Although I had a reservation, check in was cumbersome, difficult and time consuming one level below frustration. At 20.30 I went to dine at the restaurant only to be informed that I had 45 minutes to enjoy my wine and food. A check was delivered to my table before asking for some desert. It is rather odd for a restaurant that incorporates a bar to close at 21.15 hrs. especially in a tourism season.
To sum it up, the infrastructure is well established but the management needs professional guidance. A friendly, helpful staff with smiling faces would definitely change the outlook of this hotel. I personally did not feel comfortable and didn't enjoy my stay. 

Good infrastructure, poor management

As a former member of the board of Rocky Historic Hotels of the Rocky Mountains West and presently a travel writer focused primarily on historic hotels, I find this property does not represent historic in any way shape or form. This hotel is just old. 

Upon our arrival we entered a musty-smelling lobby with no one in attendance. We waited and waited until a gracious wait staff member from the restaurant came to the front desk and, when unable to find any member of management, she assisted us in check-in. We found the trip up the dangerous staircase to our room was treacherous at best. 

Entering our room, we found the headboard that was shown in their photo array but that was about it. The room was so small it was difficult to walk around in the room because the bed took up 80% of the small hotel room space. 

We found the wiring to be precarious, if not outright dangerous. The bathroom was in poor condition with mold around the tub that was sickening. And old air conditioner was mounted in the window with cracked glass and wired and a very dangerous mesh of chords. The wallpaper is literally falling off the walls.

There is a huge difference between an historic property and a pitiful old property. I would be remiss as a guest at the Braun Hotel if I did not inform potential visitors that this hotel is substandard at best and dangerous at least.

 I respect the opinion of those who find turn-of-the-century properties charming.  
I understand there id something unique about the experience. However, there is a huge difference between historic hotels with pleasant surroundings and atmosphere as opposed to being surrounded by a dangerous and unhealthy environment.

The photos show what they promote and the reality of the experience of their guests.  You decide.

Not historic-Just OLD!!

This is living true history. We felt like living in the 1900 on a positive we love the place and the restaurant it is truly excellent. Actually it was a treat for us buffalo ribs and filet the Minoan. The owners are extraordinary. It was the best part of the trip.

Hystory

Being English and knowing Faulty Towers, this place is right in that era.
Want kitsch rooms, wonky floors, creaky boards and original iron work?
You're in luck.

Are the staff a little sparse on the ground and sullen?
Sure, but that doesn't really bother me.

Is it just across the street from Dale's Diner and his amazing whiskey steak?
Of course.

But despite all those things adding up to this place's first 4 star rating (without mentioning it being next to the courthouse and town jail) I can't give it better than 3/5 because of the used band aid left in the bath by the last guest or maybe the cleaner!

I wanted to love it. Part of me still does. All the best Braun.
A true throw back to 1908.

Wanted To Love It

We came to hot springs, hoping to find some hot springs. Seems Evans plunge has capitalized on the naturally occurring spring. 
The hotel itself is old. Really old. More like a bed and breakfast with a private bathroom and tv in the room. 
The jetted tub doesn't work. The steam shower doesn't work. No pool. No hot tub. Pretty basic. Have to park across the street. Have to go out front if you're a smoker...walking past the office each time. Only way in and out is thru the front door. 
Does have ac and heat. Tiny rooms. Idk what else I can say. 

Average? 

We pulled up and the parking was across the street. The building definitely looks old and when you walk in it smells old. We were going to ask to see a room before actually staying, but rang and rang the bell, and nobody came to meet us. We decided to go someplace else for the night.
