The bed and shower head is 50 years old. The shower was as small as a camp trailers, could not move. The WORST!! They had no TV service and did not inform us at check in !!!   I would not recommend staying here!!!!

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

This is the most unprofessional & unethical company I have ever had to deal with.   I travel extensively with my job and made a reservation because I would be traveling through keystone.   However, my plans changed which changed the route I would take.  I called the Brookside to cancel my reservation at 12:32 pm which was 3 hrs after I made my reservation.   I was told that I would be charged for one night stay.   I told the man at Brookside that my confirmation did not say anything about a charge if cancelled.   I could totally understand getting charged if I were cancelling at 6:00 pm or later, but that was not the case. 

The man said he would need to check with the manager on this and for me to call back in 15 minutes.   I hung up.  Well, about 5 minutes later, I got a notification from my credit card company of a charge for $143.19.  

This man lied to me!!  There was no discussion with a manager. He wanted that time to charge my card.  

I tried several more times to get a credit.  I reported this unprofessional & unethical business practice to the  Chamber of Commerce in Keystone, SD and I will be calling the Better Business Bureau as well.  I have alerted my credit card company of this fraudulent charge and they are working to cancel the charge. 

I’ve looked more into this hotel and I’m surprised it hasn’t been shut down by the local health department in Keystone. 

It’s a shame people in a hospitality business try and take me advantage of someone traveling in this area!!

SHADY MOTEL & SHADY MANAGEMENT

4 night stay. Woke up night 2... Bed bugs!! 
At 5 am brought owner to room to show him. Requested a refund. Still haven't gotten it. Offered another room in same building. Besides this, room dirty. Walls with smashed bugs, spilled splashes. Bed old and lumpy. Internet tv that barely works with the slow internet.

Location was great and Desk staff were very pleasant.  That’s about where things went downhill.

Incredibly dated.  Room 105 was very musty and a window left open for us that was difficult to secure.

Ants in the bathroom.  Went to front desk and was handed a spray can of raid and told “sorry.”  No offer for a price break/partial refund.

Cobwebs throughout room.  Shower hot water was intermittent and don’t last for four showers.

“Breakfast buffet” consisted of three kinds of cereal.  Blueberry bagels, toast, yogurt and some kind of cheese/egg omelette to heat in microwave.  There were store made lemon poppy seed muffins.  One two slice toaster…

Great location, nice staff and that’s about all…

Terrible motel. Unsafe stairs. Ac wall units held in by Duct tape. Filthy office. Filthy hotel rooms. The pictures you see on Expedia or their website are VERY outdated and very misleading! Hotel staff is rude. If this is your only option, sleep in your car!

AVOID

Made a last minute online reservation. Pulled in the parking lot and it is not at all as described online. Broken locks on outer doors. Rotting wood around the windows. No functional pool. We didn't even bother checking in and cancelled our reservation within an hour of making it. Owner will not refund our money even after the online booking service contacted them.

READ THE REVIEWS! Buy the reservation cancellation insurance, you will need it!

Had higher expectations due to TripAdvisor star rating. Very disappointed when we arrived. Was expecting basic/no frills accommodations which it was but there was also a dirty, thick layer of dust and dead bugs on lamps, AC unit, window sills, yellowed towels, sagging noisy mattress, slanted floor, very small bathroom and shower, black mold on the wall near the shower, and strong musty odor to the room. Would not recommend.

Avoid

First off when we arrived at the hotel it looked like it had not been maintained for several years and when we went to go into our room it had not been cleaned, the bed was unmade and there was trash on the floor and table so when I told the person in the office about it they did give us another room, although this room was clean the toilet seat was missing a bolt to hold it in place and the floor vent was closed with trash in it and also the packets of sugar were opened and the napkins were missing as well as they're not being cups for the coffee. I almost forgot that there was no soap and the tub would fill with water when taking a shower, it did drain but very slowly and my wife was bitten by the spiders in the room.

Surprised I would not recommend this hotel

Would never recommend this place. Getting to the rooms was scary, wood on steps seemed weak and rotting.  Disgusting rooms. Sheets, pillows, carpet, walls, and bathrooms were dirty and stained. We had live bugs in between bed and walls. Pool is filled with dirt and weeds.

Avoid this Motel

I drove past the motel because I said there is no way that is it.  To my surprise, disappointment and disgust it was. They 100% misrepresent their motel on their website.  I am attaching pictures for proof.   I was excited to lay by the pool after a long travel day, well the pools is not only closed it is over grown with weeds and covered with a tarp.  Outdoor heated pool to relax by my ass.  I get to my room and there is a used hand towel, still wet in the shower.  The thought of getting under the covers is gross.  I would NEVER recommend this hotel even to my worst enemy.
