I'm very surprised this gets good reviews at all especially based on the price.  We paid over $400 for one night and it's such a shabby place - honestly if this was way cheaper I would probably give it a good review.  It's just a sloppy place - when you first walk in the rugs leading to check in is ripped and ratty and I found it surprising to see the cleaning people bleaching the rug on the way into our room.  The hot tub was luke warm.  The furniture in the room and accents in the room were very cheaply made, paint job really poor and we got a good laugh about a band-aid on the ceiling lamp. Not much beach to walk on and really out of the way from any attractions.  Also, to pay over $400 and then they ask for $20 for 30 minutes in the sauna seems like nickle and diming you.  I will say breakfast was good and a nice touch.

Surprised this gets good reviews

This is a relatively new hotel and I had read some great reviews.  So we decided to book a deluxe king water view room for one night.  They don't have a bar/restaurant on site and there isn't anywhere to walk to.  But the grounds are beautiful - we had a private deck with a personal hot tub and beautiful water views.  They also have big barrel-shaped saunas.  My husband asked about how to work both and he was shown the ropes - and even given slippers to wear in the sauna.  I didn't bring my bathing suit and was very disappointed not to partake.  The hot tub didn't get up to temperature until the following day but he enjoyed sitting in it the morning before we checked out.  Otherwise the room felt dingy and beat up.  The bed was comfy but the bathroom was the smallest I've ever seen in a hotel - you kind of had to maneuver around the toilet to close the door and the shower was absolutely tiny.  There was a very nice rain showerhead but it was dripping when we arrived and we couldn't seem to shut it off no matter what we did.  Shutting the door took care of the noise and that didn't disrupt our sleep.  The had a complimentary rose hour 5-6p where one glass of sparkling or still rose wine was offered per person. That was very nice and we enjoyed our glasses. But there was nowhere to sit near the lobby.  We took them back to our room but would have liked to sit and enjoy with other guests and maybe talk to the person behind the front desk.  Breakfast was delivered to our room in a picnic basket shortly before 9a and we loved the included coffee, juice, pasties, fruit and bagels.  However my husband is a tea drinker.  And while there is an electric kettle and tea bags in the room, the tea was decaf.  So we ended up stopping at Starbucks.  All in all, this is a nice place but I'm not sure if we'll stay again or go elsewhere.

Lots of positives but

Nice small hotel right at the beach. Wonderful and idyllic surroundings.
The room are ok. Not always spotless clean. The coffee table in our room was a bit sticky. Although the room itself was of a good size however the bathroom is very small. It is like bathroom for small  children. Also it is in need of some updating; Rusty pipes and spots, the shower kept dripping.;;;
The bathroom doesn’t fit two adults. 
Service is ok.
Breakfast is brought to the room in a picnic basket (for us a bit too late - 9am) and there is not much variety. 
This would not be our first option again 

Just ok

I can’t even put into words how awful this entire hotel is. From the moment you enter smelling like an absolute sewer to entering the filthiest “glorified” motel room I’ve ever stepped in. From the filthy floors to the dead dried up gnats/ cockroaches lining the bathroom doors. If you wanted to try to clean yourself of this room and shower.. be prepared to dry your body with stained towels. Me and boyfriend had planned to spend two nights at this hotel given the social media hype over this hotel and spending close to $2,000… we had to cut our stay short over how filthy this place was. We’ve made the front desk aware of how dirty our room was and how all we wanted to do was to check out early and be refunded for the final night. The front desk girl said “I agree” and  offered to re-clean our room and offered a free paddle board session. Nothing free would’ve made it worth it to stay another night here. We did not ask to be refunded for the night that we did stay understandably  but were hoping to be refunded for the night we left for. As stated we still left and we’re told by the front desk girl that the manager would contact us when she came in. We got nothing more than a text stating that they could not accommodate us and offer us a refund for the night that we DID NOT even spend there. We’ve called the property multiple times with no answer given our caller ID coming up on the phone.. treating this like a bunch of young children. When we go away.. we expect to be treated with respect given the amount of money we spent and not have to brush our feet off each time we got in bed the night prior to make sure we didn’t get dirt in the bed. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the money, this place is nothing more than a unprofessional, glorified rest stop. The amount of hype behind this hotel’s marketing is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. 

Dead bugs/filth and horribly managed.

This place is all a facade. Looks nice in pictures but that’s about it. Staff didn’t answer the phone days prior to arrival with some questions that I had about the stay, impossible to reach someone.  That should have been my first warning. The minute you walk in you are smacked in the face with the heaviest fragrance scent, if you have chemical sensitivities beware. The fragrances are so strong you could actually taste them. Beach is not a beach, super rocky on your feet to get into the water. Dirty outside patio tables and cushions. Robes were wet, weren’t even able to wear them. The sliding doors and windows do not have screens so every single bug will be in your room. Dead bugs killed all over the ceilings and walls. The bathrooms in the garden view rooms are as small as a mop closet. You can barely move or put your toiletries anywhere. This is a barely dressed up motel. Spend your money elsewhere.

Stay away.

Absolutely perfect wedding night/beginning of honeymoon. Stayed in beachfront suite 2, staff was so helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very nice and the picnic baskets were so cute. Tub was huge selling point for us- absolutely loved it. Plenty of room for two people including my 6’2” husband. Lots of wildlife to see including egrets, swans, hermit crabs, minnows, striped sea robins, whelks, clams, and seagulls. Bed was so comfortable I had to ask management for the mattress brand. Nespresso machine was a nice touch. Will definitely come back!

Romantic beach stay for newlyweds

Understanding that pictures can be deceiving I would say that the hotel (really presents as an old motel that was revamped) presented as stark.  The bathrooms are extremely small and claustrophobic with no ventilation.  The solid window in the bathroom is along the hallway.  If you stay near the entrance of the establishment you will hear the main door opening and closing and the ice machine.  As well the rooms closer to the entrance will be met with the noise of the room on the second level.  So room location is key.  The front door, although key coded, is always unlocked.  During my stay it was difficult to find anyone at the front desk.  

Positives:   Beds were comfortable, the outside location and furniture were great.  Staircase down to the beach.  The location of the hotel is in a quiet neighborhood.

We had a wonderful stay at Aqua this weekend.  We stayed in the Beach Suite room number 1 and it was gorgeous!!! Everything from the linens to the bathrobes were sheer luxury. The view is to die for.  In the morning we were treated to a breakfast basket with coffee, oj, bagels, pastries and yogurt.  Treat yourself and visit this hotel if your going to be in the area

Excellent hotel

Aqua by American Beech does not only have amazing property and views, but the staff is also amazing. I stayed overnight, and everything was set up for my arrival. The room was spotless, smelt great and was so cute. The views from the porch are to die for! They are also pet friendly which is a HUGE plus!! The best part is, the picnic basket they leave you in the morning for breakfast. Great food and so cute. Will be staying again.

Overnight stay

Since we live on the East End we did not stay here...but we toured it today and it is FABULOUS!  It's small but oh so delicious!  Every room is full of quirky charm, with a private deck and direct access to the property's lawn, beach, and boat dock.  The hotel's entrance and front desk are small but enchantingly decorated.  And be sure to look up at the ceilings in the hallways leading to your room.  Filled with fanciful swimmers and turquoise neon lighting, you will understand why this gem is called "Aqua".   I would have given them a 5 Star rating except, sadly, they do not have a restaurant or bar.   BUT--do not despair--the East End is chocked full of creative Farm-To-Table restaurants, wineries, and farm stands.  In my opinion, Aqua has more uniqueness, specific to private water access, than their sister property American Beech in Greenport.  But be sure to visit both!
