Although we cancelled our reservations several months in advance, Playpark charged for the 2 room 2 night's stay which we never occupied, insisting that booking.com had not sent them the cancellation notice.


Beware: Worst reservation system ever, we were charged 2 rooms 2 nights for a cancelled reservation..

Major Issues, don't stay here.
1. One week prior to check-in, staff emailed me that their system wasn't working with VRBO, and I needed to cancel my original reservation and book a new reservation with them instead.  Very suspicious.
2.  Upon arrival, we were assigned different rooms than we booked, customer rep (not onsite) not helpful in sorting it out.  Door to first room had visible damage (see below) and after 30 minutes on hold, promising manager was onsite, nobody ever showed up.
3.  Due to door damage, we did not feel safe staying at the location.  Nobody onsite also led to this issue.  Management said we were outside cancellation policy (terrible customer service) and would not be refunding us.  Still waiting to hear back from claims with VRBO etc.

Overall, the property is a converted Motel and they have lots of issues inside and out.  I would NEVER suggest anyone stay here, under any circumstances.

Manager says he recorded our conversation and will be fighting me for any customer service issue I submit.  To me that says a lot.

Awful place, stay somewhere else

We were happy to find a place that allowed pets. We wanted a place close to my audíteme who lives in Meyers. When we saw the room it was quite small and tight but for the price, having a dogs and distance to my sister’s it was worth it. However at. Heck out I was shocked to learn that we were being charged $150 no refundable for our pets. We have 2 small dogs under 14 lbs.  We have been traveling cross country  and had just checked out of 2 nights at Kirkwood and we have not had to pay such a hefty fee!!! Will not return dog owners beware

Not the best..Not Happy

Before I even checked in the customer service was already top notch.  Mateo sent me a confirmation text with all the codes to my room. On my drive heading there,  the owner Matt called to about my stay and the room was ready for early check-in.   When we drove up we were  greeted by Mateo and his furbabies.  He let us know all the perfect spots near and around the lake. He even told us about a few spots to eat at. Overall the room  was perfect for the price and minutes from the lake. We'll be definitely checking back here when we go back.  DO NOT PASS UP THIS PLACE.....

Perfect SPOT for a good Night Stay

My friends and I went to Lake Tahoe for a couple nights and Matt, the lodge owner, went above and beyond for us! He met us at our door when we arrived and assured us if we needed anything to shoot him and text. The next day we texted asking if he they had s’mores sticks to roast marshmallows in the beautiful outdoor area on the property. They didn’t have any sticks at the time but about a half hour later he came and knocked on our door and said he wasn’t the one that answered the text but knew we were looking for some sticks and found some for us!! It was incredibly over and above and made our night all the better. The rooms are VERY clean and accommodating, it looks newly upgraded, when we walked in it felt we were walking into a Pinterest showroom! The pictures on the website don’t do it justice. I HIGHLY recommend this lodge, my friends and I stayed at 2 other places in California and no where comes close to this great place. **These pictures were taken by us, not what it looked like when we arrived**

Amazing stay!

Before we even arrived to Playpark we were already experiencing the great customer service. Matt, the owner of Playpark called me personally 8 hours before check in, to welcome me and briefly explain their check in process. He also mentioned if the room was available for early check-in he would send me a text. I advised him that we wouldn't be arriving until after 4pm but I still received a text at 2pm letting me, know our room was ready. Check-in was as simple as entering the code into the keypad at our room door. The code was sent via text and email. The room was such a delightful surprise. It was very spacious, the pictures online did not do it justice. We reserved the King suite room which included a mini fridge and microwave along with a sink. The bathroom has a walk in shower with a jet tub. There is also a living room area with a couch, gas fireplace controlled by the thermostat and a desk. And the bedroom has a king size. The mattress is firm but still comfy. The bedroom also has a nice size closet. The water pressure in the shower is great and the water heats up quickly. Oh and dogs are welcomed. It was only a $50 additional fee for the entire stay. This place is also in a great location, only like 20 minutes away from Cascade Falls, Eagle Falls and Emerald Bay. And don't forget to try Tahoe Pizza Company, not only because a right next door but it's delicious.


Enjoyed our stay

This place is quite run down and even though we were there in the middle of August which should be high season, the owner were keeping the light down and we were the only one that had rented a room. The place is old, somewhat dirty and accommodations are in needs of an upgrade. Prices are still too high even considering the area.

In need of major renos

No record of our booking from booking.com when we came to check in and the owner was rude when we knocked to check in late at night after travelling a long time. Hard property to find with no lit up street furniture to advertise. We had to stay at Motel 6 across the road; they gave a far better reception. Would never stay here or try to again.

This Lodge was so nice and quite. Our room room had two bedrooms, living room, bathroom and a spacious hall closet. One bedroom had a Queen Bed and the other room had bunk beds. The living room had a let-out futon which was extremely comfortable. This room came with a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The staff was so friendly and attentive to us.The wifi had a strong signal which was great because our phones reception was poor. The weather was bad so they made sure we were comfortable and constantly asked us if we needed anything. They shoveled our car out for us and Harmony (staff personnel) even offered to cook us breakfast because we wanted some bacon....lol....My friends and I love this place and will stay here every time we venture to South Lake Tahoe.

Cozy and Quite

The mere fact that you are someone who knows about TripAdvisor and cares enough to be reading reviews of this place means that there is no way you will be okay with one second in this place, let alone an entire night.  Dirt everywhere (the bottoms of our feet were black after walking across the floor), countless things missing or broken.
