Actually, one star is probably a bit mean...you get what you pay for...and it was very cheap!! On the positive side, the guy at the front desk was friendly, and the lavatory paper was strong, yet soft. There we go.
The room, the shower cubicle, the basin, the lavatory were all broken and chipped, and, you know, all had that really dirty, grubby and completely uncared for look that makes you wary of going near anything, let alone touching it, in case you catch something.
I was relieved come morning that nothing had happened to the car overnight. Coffee was fine.

One star for existing

Great place for the price. 
Owner was great from the moment we checked in. Within walking distance to Heavenly's gondola. 
Our room was clean and the heater worked great. 
Decent continental breakfast in the morning. 
We will definitely be back for another stay. 

Nice People, Nice Place

My girlfriends and I were looking for a clean and inexpensive place to stay in South Lake Tahoe during a weekend snowboarding trip. I read most (if not all) of the reviews on this place and gathered that although the place was of low-to-average quality, the management (maybe they're the owners?) are nice and care about their guests' experience.

Rather than booking via hotels.com, I contacted the motel directly and they were happy to give me a better deal than hotels.com. We booked a room with two full size beds for the price of a room with one king size bed. A few days later, another girlfriend decided she wanted to come too, so we changed our reservation for a larger room with two full size beds, a sofa with a sleeper, and a jetted bathtub! It was still a great deal!

We snowboarded at Kirkwood on Saturday and it was so nice to only have to drive to South Lake Tahoe instead of trekking back down to Sacramento! The man at check-in was super nice. They had a giant box full of complimentary travel-sized Toms natural toothepaste --that was awesome! We requested extra towels in case we used the outdoor hot tub.

About the room...It was HUGE! It was chilly, but the heater in the room worked so the place was heated by the time we got back from dinner. We loved how spacious and tidy the place was! We loved that it had a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. We also LOVED the jetted bathtub especially after a cold day on the slopes!!! I only wish I would've brought some bubble bath or scented bath salts (next time for sure). We didn't end up using the outdoor hot tub because it was kinda dark as one of the two lightbulbs were out. That reminds me, I accidentally left my purse by the hot tub when I was checking it out and about 15 mins later got a call to my room by the nice man at check-in playfully asking me if I was missing anything...GASP! MY PURSE!!! How embarrassing!

About the free breakfast...I slept in and didn't check it out, but my friends said it was decent for a free breakfast. I think they said there were mini-muffins and oatmeal or something like that. Juice and maybe coffee too. I can't remember exactly.

We appreciated that the man at the front desk allowed us to keep our car parked there after we checked out on Sunday, so we could walk the short distance to Heavenly's gondola for another day of riding. That was super cool.

Also, the room we were in did not have a leaky-looking ceiling like some of the pics posted here. The carpet was fine for a motel in Tahoe (I mean, it's Tahoe and in the winter there is snow outside!). The linens were clean, the room/bathroom were tidy. We didn't try the wi-fi, so I can't comment on that. It's a low-budget place, so don't expect nice toiletries or fluffy towels. All in all, we were all very happy with our stay at Green Lantern. We definitely recommend it for snowboarders/skiers who need a no frills place to crash. Next time, I'll take pics.

Highly Recommend for Folks on a Budget

Make your own conclusion from this statement, unless this hotel has been updated in the last year spend the extra money and find a nice place for you and your family, any positive comments are suspicious and i feel faults. I have nothing good to say concerning this location.

BEWARE

I stayed at this hotel for one night. It is very conviniently located a couple blocks away from the Sateline and from the casinos in Nevada. It is simple, but resonably priced, very clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly, although I only interacted with them for basic stuff. The only down side of it is their breakfast. Yes, it is free, but it should be named light snacks. They had a small tray with about 6 muffins and danishes, coffee, cream, and orange juice, right at their small lobby. No tables or chairs. I had to eat a real breakfast at a restaurant.
