Very clean and large. It has a kitchenette, a fireplace, a balcony. So roomy and quiet. King size bed was very comfortable. Refrigerator and microwave. There’s a gas fire pit & irondack chairs. Highly recommend this place! Lovely view of the trees. A few lawn games outside and board  games inside!

Great Accommodations!

Worst experience ever at a hotel. The staff leaves in the evening and they give you a number if you need help at night but no one answers the phone day or night. All the propane for heaters and fire pits were empty. I needed an extra towel and called down to office 5 times.. I then walked the halls to look for cleaning person . Then I went to office and talked to the rudest clerk I have ever met Jasmin.. she refused to give me an extra towel and laughed at me when I asked to speak to a manager… she said she was the manager.. i then Asked to talked to the owner at which time she refused to give me the contact information…

Rude staff

Stayed in a standard king room (Room 108) on the first floor for two nights. The room was nicely decorated, clean, quiet, and spacious (their website lists it at 300 square feet). It had a gas fired fireplace in the corner of the room, which would be nice on a snowy, or cold, day. The room had a microwave, sink, a Keurig coffee machine, utensils, plates, coffee mugs, drink glasses, and small refrigerator. The courtyard is nice as well. There are a couple of hammocks, an outdoor fire pit, a propane BBQ, and Adirondack chairs to sit in as well. 

BE FOREWARNED: If you plan to stay during the summer, there is no air-conditioning. Our room was 75 degrees per the thermostat, it had a large one speed ceiling fan, and the room had a box fan in the closet that we used during our stay. Our stay was comfortable for us. However, I would imagine larger rooms on the second floor could be difficult to sleep in if the temperatures got warm.

There are a couple of things that need improving. The major, and most significant one to me, is guest safety. Although they gave us a key ring at check-in with two keys (one for the room’s door and one to open the building’s door from the street), the door from the street was never locked during our stay, including at night. In addition, no guest door rooms had a peephole and our room did not have a deadbolt lock. It just had the lock on the door handle and a safety chain. 

They need to improve their maintenance and upkeep of the property. Our room had a wall clock and the battery for it needs replacing. There also wasn’t a small plastic bag for the ice bucket, so we ended up using a trash can liner instead. There was litter and weeds next to the outside ramp where guests have to walk up to an outside door. The ramp’s handrail needed to be repaired as well as there is a large dent in it. The lower portion of the exterior wall next to the parking spaces needs a paint touch up in several areas. The entry door and the door’s frame to the hallway also could use a touch up of paint and the hinges need to be lubricated. The door has an audible groan when it is opened. There was a large stain in the hallway on the first floor that needs to be cleaned up. There were maintenance items stored underneath a staircase near the maintenance room on the first floor. The space could be easily enclosed with a door so the items are out of sight.

Lastly, they need to clarify on the information sheet they give to guests upon check-in is: What do they want done with dirty dishes and utensils from the room.  We brought food back to eat in our room the first night of our stay. There was no dishwashing detergent and nothing to clean the items we used. We didn’t see anyone place dirty items in the hallway, so we left them in the sink. It was also strange that although the room had two bowls, plates, and coffee mugs, there was only one large and one small drinking glass in the cabinet.

Two night stay

Had a wonderful stay at the Deerfield lodge recently.  The room is quite spacious and so is the bathroom.  It was very quiet, barely ever saw or heard people in the rooms nearby.  As stated, there is no air conditioning, but we just opened the screen door and got a  nice breeze.   Staff was very friendly and helpful upon check in and check out.  Great location.  Easy 15 minute walk down to the main street and the park/beach to see July 4th fireworks.  We will definitely stay here again in the future.

Wonderful July Visit to Deerfield Lodge

This is a boutique hotel / lodge where you are basically left to your own devices. 
It is quiet and situated in a nice neighbourhood about 30 min walk to the heart of activity at the state line. 

The reception is only open during normal working hours. 

When we booked it included breakfast however we gathered on the last day that the breakfast is only offered at weekends. It is a basic help yourself and go in a bag type available from reception. This was not made clear to us on check in. 

The room was lovely to be fair and very clean. There is no maid service so you would need to leave towels in the corridor for exchange. 

Gardens were nicely maintained and available to use.

UK visitor advice

This place was fantastic! We stayed in a long suite for four nights. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. Staff was friendly and helpful. And very dog friendly - a great yard to walk them and poop bag station.

Wonderful place to stay

Hubs and I visited the Deerfield while on an anniversary trip driving the 101 from Astoria to Tahoe.  We stayed in multiple hotels during our trip…and this was by far our favorite place.  The setting was absolutely beautiful.  Room was very clean.  Large comfortable space with everything we needed.  The bed was a dream.  I like a more firm mattress…and the bedding was just perfect.  I sat on the little patio connected to our room each morning just enjoying the view.  The grab and go breakfast was just perfect before heading out for the day.  The little Thai restaurant across the street was very convenient for dinner as it was later in the evening on the  first night we arrived.  Next time we visit the area, Deerfield will be the only place we stay.  Thanks for making our last few nights on this awesome vacation perfect!

Will for sure be visiting again!

We were looking forward to our stay after reading all of the positive reviews.  The room was clean and well decorated, and the complimentary snacks were a nice touch.  However, the customer service was shockingly bad.  After a day of hiking we wanted to shower before heading out to dinner.  Nothing but an ice cold trickle of water came from the showerhead when we turned it on.  The office had closed 5 minutes prior so we called the after-hours number.  The staff member who answered seemed annoyed and dismissive about our situation and didn't offer an apology or a timely solution to ease our frustration.  We completely understand that maintenance issues can occur, but the lack of apology was utterly surprising.  

We wanted to make this our new go-to hotel in South Lake Tahoe, but unfortunately we'll continue looking.

Disappointing Customer Service

One of my favorite places in south lake! Great size rooms, friendly staff, and minutes from the California lodge at heavenly. This is my go to in the winter, the rooms are cozy, each room has a fire place and wet bar! I always stay on the 2nd floor towards the back, nice and quiet! It is perfect for groups, couples, and they have rooms for the whole family.

Deerfield is the prefect place to stay in South Lake Tahoe! Convenient location(restaurants and shops only 2-3 minutes away), beautiful and spacious rooms with many complimentary items, and an exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely be returning!
