This is not a luxury hotel, it’s an old-school roadside motel. The rooms are small. But…it’s clean, the bed is slightly softer than concrete, exactly how I like it, and the people are so nice. Coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator in the room so basic needs are met. The WiFi works. Once I close my eyes to go to sleep, I no longer see that the room is small. If I come back up to this area, I’ll stay here again. I didn’t get to try much of the local cuisine but Bert’s Cafe across the street is good, and the Lake House next door smells delicious but I forgot to pack decent clothes so haven’t been in. The Lake Tahoe Pizza Co. is also across the street and maybe I’ll go there tomorrow night. It’s also close to a couple grocery stores and a laundromat, necessities for these working trips.

I would be passing through SLT, so I booked here for 1 night based on a very reasonable price.  Facility was very basic and my room was on the small side, but the room was in excellent condition and very, very clean.  Bed was great, bathroom had plenty of hot water, everything worked properly.  My only reason for not giving 5 stars was no morning coffee available--but this was a SMALL matter, easily solved by driving over to the local convenience store.  Would willingly stay here again if I am in the area.

Do not stay during corona pandemic!!!

Oct 2020: Our room had stains all over the sheets! In the morning I opened the "bible drawer" and found two disgusting, stained, used shirts! Brought it up to the hotel and they said "manager was on a 2-week vacation" hotel gave zero sympathy and during a pandemic the rooms are completely unacceptable. It looks affordable but do not give this hotel your money! Oh, also when I called to complain the front desk also hung up on me!

DO NOT STAY HERE. There was blood stains on the pillows, the owners will charge your card without your approval and the staff is just rude and disrespectful. Support another local business. This was one of the grossest and nastiest hotels I have ever stayed at.

Owners are scammers

Facility was kept neat and Location was great. convenient to hwy 50. However I found the room to be very small. You will hear traffic from hwy and noise made from room heater made it difficult to get undisturbed sleep.

Feb visit

Made a last minute decision to come to the snow slope on a long weekend, and this place happened to have one room left and allowed for a single night stay, so we took it. I read the reviews before coming but didn’t have many choices so decided to try it out. I think this place doesn’t get many stars because it’s still really expensive - $295 for a night for a family room (2 queen beds). That said, there’s nowhere cheap to stay in Lake Tahoe, especially on a long weekend during the ski season, so it’s not bad.

Our room was surprisingly cute. Very nice and firm beds, at different corners of the room instead of side by side, beamed ceiling, and very good lighting. There’s a end table on each side of the bed, and on each one is a nice new table lamp. There’s a small fridge and microwave and coffee maker, and the heating is just right and quiet. I don’t think the room is exceptionally small as some of the reviews said. There’s enough room to move around, it’s no smaller than other hotel rooms. At least, ours wasn’t (Rm 101). All the furniture seem new, interior is clean and shower wall is marble. My daughter likes the cream and shampoo in pouches. Said they waste less. Surprisingly cute

Clean room that looks like it has had some recent upgrades to the furnishings. Decent size refrigerator (for a motel), new microwave, functioning (small) coffee maker. Good pillows. There was a $5 "energey" surcharge (actual spelling) on the bill which I would have argued over if the nightly rate wasn't already so low.

No frills motel - cheap place to stay if you're in town for a ski trip

We booked queen bed for 170$ per day and when we entered in room we got so disappointed room was very small, bathroom was clean but bathing area was so small. At night temp was 4 degree and heater was swicthed  off from main line. When we asked about heater they said that will start only in october they have given extra blankets thoug. will suggest please plan in advance if you are coming to tahoe because its very difficult to get good stay in resonable price.

I have been coming to the Apex Inn for the past three years and will continue to do so for years to come.
The Inn is consistently clean, fresh and wonderfully located.  The beds are comfortable and the rooms are off the main street and quiet . The is plenty of onsite parking.
The staff is friendly and helpful.

Wonderfully located!!!

Last-minute overnighter, & our favorite local resort on the lake was booked. Had seen this place when staying at nearby campground so thought we'd give it a try, They had availability; a little pricey but we booked it. It's a small place, maybe 12-15 rooms.  Staff was friendly. At check-in was told they don't offer AAA or AARP discounts (or ANY type of discount) on room rates. We were given possibly the smallest room we have ever stayed in anywhere. If we'd had a full-sized suitcase there wouldn't have been any place to put it. Microwave & refrigerator in room-pretty standard for this area, most all of the non-casino hotels provide them.  Coffeemaker--but with only enough coffee for 1 small pot & condiments for 1 cup of coffee.  Bathroom amenities were pretty cheap-shampoo & lotions in pouches so  instead of being able to take the unused portions with us, we had to toss them. What a waste. Towels were a little thin. Bed was adequate, but barely enough space on either side to walk. Room furnishings were a little rundown, but it appears that they've tried to fix the place up by painting & updating window coverings.  Air conditioner was extremely noisy, with some type of rattle to it.  Could use a little more attention to details when cleaning the room.  They do not offer any type of continental breakfast or free coffee in the lobby.  There is a cafe down the street for which they offer a 10% off coupon. This will almost cover the cost of your tax if you eat there; we did not.Upscale restaurant serving dinner located next door. Pizza parlor located across the street.  If you're looking for a place that's walking distance to everything, this is not it. You have to drive to get to any shopping. If you're looking for something near the lake, this is not it. One of my pet peeves is hotels that charge you up the nose & then skimp on amenities. Consumers like to feel they've received equal value for what they paid. Considering that we paid just over $200 for 1 night (grossly overcharged considering the lake is nowhere nearby), I would say that it wasn't worth the cost, and we will probably look elsewhere in the future.
