I stayed for one night in July while visiting the area for a business trip. Overall, the Latch was fine -- not outstanding but not terrible.

The main house is far back on the property off the street. The first house is unrelated to the inn. There are two buildings. You also get a good view of the Southampton Inn next to it while driving up the driveway. That location is impressive from sight.

We were greeted by a very friendly woman working at the Latch and she had two dogs. She said she also keeps dogs there. The dogs were friendly too. We really enjoyed our conversations with her.

The bedroom I stayed in was completely fine. It had furniture and was sizable for Manhattan but rather small. There was nowhere to sit so it worked fine for one person but I wouldn't spend too much time in it other than sleeping.

The bathroom was another story. It looked old and dated. The most annoying part was there was long black hair on the floor and in the bath tub. I don't have long black hair so this was here before I arrived. I just cleaned it up.

Free wi-fi was great. The property is also really nice with areas to sit in the shade and enjoy the weather.

Aside from the main house, there's a separate structure too.

My room was right next to the entrance door so I heard it open and close early in the morning. Fortunately, I was fine waking up early to start my day.

The breakfast in the greenhouse was quite nice. It's a lovely quiet setting and the breakfast options are really good -- parfait, cereal and some bread items. This would be a nice getaway.

The location is excellent to get into the village and walk. That is the best part.

Overall, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great. I'm not sure I'd want to stay there multiple nights but it served a purpose.

Good location

The place is clearly dilapidated... they’ve painted everything white in attempt to brighten things up but it needs a real renovation. The floors are creaky so at 7:30am, you can hear everything from footsteps to the yappy dog they’ve kept in the reception. the bathrooms are awful - so cheap and mildewy - it smelled like damp bath mat.

Yikes! Terrible!

We made a reservation two months ahead of our arrival date.  We received an anxious phone call asking us when we were arriving while we were driving from CT to a 2pm wedding which was across the street.  We were told that the reception desk is only open until 9pm and we agreed to stop at the registration office after the wedding ceremony and prior to the reception.  We were asked to sign some papers to provide personal information again and we received our key to Room 5.  We learned that Room 5 was not in the main building so we drove to the room, opened the door and were astonished at how small the room was and that it had an offensive odor.

We turned on the AC thinking that would help with the odor and left for the reception.  We returned at 7:30pm only to find that not only was the odor still there, the bathroom was dirty and there were stains on the bedspread. We went to the registration desk to ask for another room and the clerk had alreay left.  The security guard let us in, we left the key and spent the night in another hotel.

When asked for our $400 to be returned, the answer was no.  We would never recommend staying here and will be pursuing getting our money returned even if it means a process of litigation.

An Unpleasant Surprise and No Money Back!

We arrived at Latch on Sunday afternoon and were enchanted by an era gone by. As you enter you see that the historic sign “Annex of the Irving Hotel” still stands which is lovely. The property, as we understand, has been sold and plans for the future remain to be seen. However the previous owners had operated it as the Village Latch Inn for a while and from the remnants of images online show that it was a sinking ship so we are glad that Latch took it over. The property is large and the buildings are sparse which is lovely. A large lawn is at the middle of the property with some chairs to lounge on etc. Melissa who welcomed us showed us our room and where to park. There was even a lovely dog called Royal. The best way I could describe the experience is similar to going to a wealthy person’s home with guest rooms on the grounds which are not part of the main house. Our room was set up slightly with a large terrace equipped with outdoor seating. WiFi was strong in the main areas of the property should you need it. The peace and serenity is priceless - we felt really tranquil. 
Yes the room is no frills but again appropriate for the price and the location.  The AC worked fine, the TV had a very wide range of channels and the bathroom albeit old had a great shower with perfect pressure. The breakfast spread was perfect - you could definitely fill up before heading out for a day at the beach. All in all I would say an experience I would repeat.  

A taste of the Hamptons

While the Latch Pop Up is no Ritz Carlton, it was perfect for our quiet beach escape weekend. What it lacked in luxuries and conveniences (mini fridge, large bathroom), it made up for in beauty, location, convenience, solitude, and a lovely staff. The quaint grounds were full of gardens and comfy sunset seating areas with beautiful scenery. We are looking forward to another stay next summer!

A Pleasant Surprise!

The housing is not in the building as shown on the pictures. 

We were housed in something looking like a garden tool shed. 
The very tiny room was on two floors. at the bottom a small sofa with a small tv and the bed upstairs. The stairs are extremely narrow making it a real pain carrying luggage upstairs. The bathroom is also downstairs. During our stay it was very cold and there were no means of heating, and there is nobody to contact in order to find a mean of heating so we caught a cold. The bed sheets seemed to have been washed but were full of hair. The worst kind of hair.. 

Every word can be heard through the walls, absolutely no privacy. 

There is no internet in the "rooms", guests were using the breakfast room to make their private calls and using their computers. 

Breakfast contained nothing other than carbs and sugar. No fresh bread, no eggs, no meats. Dirty dishes were left from previous guests on the tables and were not being cleaned up. 

This stay was absolutely not something we expected and paid for and not worth a fraction of its price.
