Well rented under the impression that this was a cabin. It is a pull up road side hotel that has been rehabbed. I will say it is clean but not what I thought by the site.  Looked by picture that the deck was private.  It is not. It is right on the road so at 6:30am I was woken up by the sound of UTV's coming down the road.  This is not a place to stay for multiple days.  This is you are tired and need a place to sleep for the night. This is not a Resort. False advertisement 100%. I paid for 3 nights when I checked in. got information pulled up and was not happy.  After driving from Yellowstone all day 6 plus hours did not want to go back and argue with owner that the information online is false and I was lied to.  After getting into the room went out back and a stream is out there.  Sat down to have a cigarette and noticed that there are cameras everywhere and motion sensors all over as well.  I did not consent to being filmed 24/7 when I am sitting outside of room that I booked.  I do not know if any cameras are inside but I was concerned enough that between be lied to and the camera went to sleep and the next morning we left and did not return.  They never called me nothing.  I would not stay here be aware!

Do not stay - Not a resort! False advertising....

I had the pleasure of staying at Whitetail Creek the 1st week in June. This  Shangri-la is complete with a babbling brook (creek) running through the property.  There are several different types of accommodations to choose from, RV parking with space for trailers, Cabins, motel and yurts. The accommodations are impeccably clean. Shared spaces include a Beautifully constructed Pavilion stocked with games, grills and fire pit., rope swings overlooking the creek, park benches and even a sauna. There is also a hiking trail/ ATV trail. The property shows incredible pride of ownership by the owners' Chris and Autumn and is very well maintained. The park hosts Robert and Gay are very gracious hosts. Robert can be found marshalling every RV in to their spots with their trailers and when not taking care of the property he can be found engaging with the guests and doing anything he can to make sure they are enjoying their stay. Gay can be found taking care of the beautiful plants and flowers that are throughout the property and is one of the people on the property who makes the accommodations sparkle with cleanliness. They both have warm, friendly, welcoming personalities and they exude pride in making your  stay at Whitetail Creek the best it could be. I will definitely return and was so excited to tell friends and family of my stay at this lil piece of heaven on earth. The town of Deadwood is about 10 minutes away and a must see old western town.

Shangri-la in South Dakota

I booked a cabin for 3 days on a booking sight. Because of illness I cancelled our stay 4 days before. The booking said nonrefundable but I thought it meant some of the money would not be refunded, not that they would take all of it . Almost 400.00 gone. White Tail Creek Resort refused to give any of the money back. I know I should have read the fine print but I was hoping they would do the right thing and give some of it back. 

Buyer Beware!!

We rented a room since the cabins were already full. The room had everything we needed. Definitely the cleanest room I've ever stayed in. The property is beautiful and very well taken care of. You can tell owners put in a lot of work keeping the property very well maintained,  clean and beautiful.  Beautiful place to stay and very affordable.  We will be back to try a cabin some time!

Great Place To Stay!

Stayed here June 27th thru July 2nd.  This was a great place to stay.  Beautiful location and close to everything we wanted see.   We stayed in one of the cabins and it was very clean and we'll equipped with everything we needed.  Owners were very helpful and accommodating.  Would differently recommend and would stay here again!

Great place!

This is a great place to stay when skiing Terry Peak. We stayed in a kitchenette unit that was perfect - clean, well appointed and everything worked. Autumn and Chris clearly have pride of ownership for this nice resort and are very accommodating.

Ski Terry Peak

We stayed over Labor Day weekend for 3 nights in one of their cabins, it was comfortable and pet friendly at the time of booking. When we checked in I was informed that they were no longer pet friendly since they had had a lot of irresponsible pet owners over the summer. However, since we had booked prior to their policy change, they allowed us to stay and have our dogs which we appreciated. As a courtesy we brought our own blankets to put on top of their comforters and futon so as to keep their stuff from getting as much dog hair on it. We kept our distance from other guests, didn't go into any of the common areas, and took our dogs to the grassy area near the highway to do their business and picked up after them as responsible dog owners should do. 

We, like so many others, enjoy travelling with our dogs and have stayed at several pet friendly hotels and campgrounds, patroned many pet friendly restaurants and breweries wherever we visit. We have never ever had a problem until today when I received a call from management that they would be charging us an extra day because the cabin smelled like dogs and they could not rent it for fear of getting a bad review...

We paid over $600 for three days which included the pet fee of $20 per day for both dogs. We couldn't cancel upon arrival because we would've been charged the whole stay regardless, that part is made very clear online, they didn't notify us of their policy change prior to our arrival so we were not given a chance to find somewhere else to stay. Had we known their policy changed, we would've gladly found somewhere else to go. Now we have to take management's word that the cabin smells of dog and there is nothing that can be done, but charge us $168 to let it sit for another day. We were very happy with the overall experience and that they allowed us to stay, but charging us an extra day seems a bit premeditated. If the policy was changed and they no longer wanted pets to stay, regardless of when the booking took place, then anyone with pets should've been notified and refunded the 20% deposit and given a chance to find something that could accommodate their needs.

Our phone call with management was heated and very unprofessional and for that part, we truly are sorry. However, I stand by my review and we will not stay there again which management said was fine with them.

Check For Policy Changes Prior To 72 Hour Cancellation

If you are a biker, this place is not for you. Management is condescending, rude and patronizing. Quick to refer to their "contract" with guests, they do not honor their own verbal commitments made to guests and treat them like unwanted relatives rather than paying customers. Our group rented five rooms, two cabins and two yurts and served up a rather tidy profit pre-rally, but the service we got wasn't commensurate. We will not be back, and we recommend anyone else avoid the place, unless you like being hassled by a busybody.

We were traveling with our daughter and son-in-law and had 14A & 14B, which connect.  We had 14 A in front near the road and they had 14B which is behind it and has a kitchen and a balcony facing the creek.  The kitchen was adequately furnished, except for not having any ice cube trays.  Also the only ice they provided was bags of ice they would sell you.  We froze water in their plastic cups.  14A had a microwave and a mini-fridge The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable.   Our mifi did not connect well there but their wifi worked well.  The lady at the reception was very friendly and accommodating-the guy was not at the same level.

Met our needs

Chris and Autumn are new(ish) owners and have made the resort into a great place to stay with family in the Hills.  There is a place for everyone - motel rooms, cabins, camping cabins  - and yurts.
The newer main gathering space with TVs, a bar, and tables is an awesome place to hang out no matter the weather.
