The picture below shows you the actual room that was one end to the other. This is the room I got for 3 people.   I asked for a different room but they were booked full. I had to sleep in my car at 67 years of age so the rest of my family could have the bed. I asked for a refund so I could go elsewhere and was refused. So disappointing and ruined our day

The manager here is awful

My husband and I stayed here 10/10-13/19.  We also took our little dog.  Cost of $15/night for the pet is reasonable. We requested a king suite on the first floor.  Our room was on the first floor sort of.  There were 2 or 3 steps to enter but handrails on both sides.  The suite was a good size with  king bed, 2 side tables, a dresser, desk, loveseat, microwave, coffee maker, and small refrigerator without freezer.  The furniture is a bit outdated but no problem. The TV is a nice size.  There was no carpeting, an added bonus when traveling with a pet, just in case. The towels were fluffy. It was very clean. The biggest thing for us was the fact that there were plenty of outlets!  Enough for 2 CPAPs, 2 cellphone chargers, oxygen concentrator, and charger for portable concentrator. We didn't need our power strip nor did we need to unplug the bedside lamps or clock radio.  The staff were very pleasant and accommodating.  Coffee, cookies and dog bones in the office. Plenty of places to eat and Walmart is close.  All in all a comfortable, nice, and pleasant place to stay.

Pleasantly surprised

I'll start with what went right.  The staff, including the front desk person and owners, responded to our concerns and took care of our situation.  We are grateful for that and I wish I could recommend this local motel.  However, we arrived to a room where there was a puddle on the floor as soon as we walked in.  When we finally cleaned it up, we were overwhelmed by the very strong cleaning odor.  We then noticed several scratches all over the floor, which had us wondering what in the heck happened...it looked terrible.  We then tried to turn on the TV and it would not work.  We then noticed that, yes, the rooms had been updated at some point, but our room in particular was beaten down and in terrible shape.  The paint on the doors, walls and trim was chipped and scratched, the furniture was dirty, the floors were scratched, and the room was not clean.  We then asked the front desk to have someone fix the TV and let them know that we'd be back later that night.  When we returned, our door was left open.  Thank goodness no one took anything from our room, but it was filled with flies and we were traveling with our children.  It made us feel unsafe and weird...like we were being pranked or in the Twilight Zone.  And our TV still didnt work.  We then tried to lay down the futon in the room for one of our kids and it was broken.  When we got ready for bed, we noticed there was no inside lock, but just a deadbolt, which is not secure.  We decided to stay elsewhere for the remainder of our stay and they were kind enough to refund us our money for our remaining days.  The owners were nice to deal with and we wish them the best and hope things improve.

Not a good experience

The owners here are great. Very personable! We were able to bring our dog, the rooms were clean, and we had a great weekend on the lake! Newly remodeled and very nice! I know there is new ownership since some of the comments from last year and a few years ago so I would def give a chance!

Great room great price

Stayed end of October and part of the first week of Nov. Very clean and tidy operation. Loved our stay with an exception you will read later. Great service, forgot to pay one day and it wasn't a problem for them just told us to pay when we returned. The room was very nice and comfortable, but don't care for the thin drapes upstairs, as it makes it a bit hard to sleep. We had a double queen room, with desk microwave fridge and TV. There were nice red metal chairs and tables to use and to sit outside on. We had neighbors and never heard anything. We will need to stay in Spencer again we will definitely stay here. Great value for the money, four stars for the drapes not filtering out the light, otherwise I'd give it five stars.

Very nice place to stay

Stayed here several years ago and it was outdated and drab.... very nice improvements this time.  Slept very well on excellent mattress and plenty of extra pillows in drawers for those in need.  Always appreciate the coffee in the room, plus the micowave and frig.  The oatmeal raisin cookies in the lobby are a nice touch in addition to to the specialty coffee available.  Will certainly check into staying there next time we plan to be in Spencer.

Clean updated rooms made our stay enjoyable

This is the room we stayed in.  Not all the rooms are this luxurious.  We had some trouble with the cable TV, but otherwise it was a lovely stay.  Towels are thin and shampoo limited, bars of soap small, but this is all workable.  There is a refrigerator and microwave as well as coffee pot in the room.
