I had recieved a booking confirmation from Agoda.com and also a welcome email two days before. When I got there, there was a note on the door that if had beensold and was closed for renovations!  I had a terrible time trying to find a place to stay on New Years Eve! Agoda.com charged me for the stay and I am having trouble getting the charges off my credit card!

DO NOT BOOK ON AIRBNB!!!!! My boyfriend and I booked this place on airbnb for Thanksgiving weekend. Airbnb confirmed our reservation the week before. We showed up on that Friday Nov. 27th at 5:50 pm and all the lights were off in the building. When we called the number a phone rang inside and no one picked up. I called probably 20 times but no one ever answered. The front door was locked and there was a sign on the door saying it was closed for renovations. We tried to get in touch with the host "Patty" on airbnb but she never answered back through the messaging system. We got scammed... If it is closed for renovations why is the listing still up on airbnb?? We were not the only people this happened to that weekend. While we were waiting outside for over an hour we ran into another person who had been scammed as well. He had driven all the way from north Georgia with his dog, he ended up having to find another hotel that was pet friendly last minute on a holiday weekend. Thankfully my boyfriend and I have friends in a neighboring city and were able to stay with them last minute. I NEVER write reviews but this placed scammed us and caused way to much stress during an already stressful year. If I could give negative stars I would.

Stayed here for one night only on an anniversary weekend. The owner was nice enough to accomodate us for just one night despite their 2 day min requirement on weekends. Stayed in Los Vientos and it was a beautiful room. Great view of ocean and spectacular sunrise. 

The entire house seemed very charming and was built by Flagler family in early 1900's. Great location on beach and close to some nearby shops. Jennifer was very nice and although we did not have breakfast it smelled great.
Highly recommend if you want to stay in area of St. Augustine as it is only about 10 min drive away.

Ocean view with charm

The House of Sea and Sun is a wonderful B&B, built in the 1920s (but modernized) by one of the Flaglers, featuring an unparalleled and unobstructed view of, and access to, the beach, which is only steps away.  The breakfast room looks over the dune to the Atlantic and the food is delicious.  Also, the staff is charming, friendly, and accommodating.  We like it for a romantic getaway, but it would be a superb location for a beach-side wedding.  We think it's the best place in St. Augustine or St. Augustine Beach.

A wonderful place if you like beaches

Our youngest daughter is preparing to head to UGA. After being held hostage by COVID19 for months, we took the opportunity to make a quick, family getaway. We love St. Augustine. And, since it is relatively close (3 hours), we decided to try and find a beachside location that accepted pets and wouldn’t break the bank. The House of the Sea & Sun was just that. The location couldn’t be better. You are literally steps from the beach, & Old Town is a five minute drive. The proprietor was friendly and made us feel welcome. We appreciate the historic charm and quirkiness of this B & B. The breakfast is AMAZING! That being said, a few updates are needed. The room we stayed in stated it slept 3. This was true. However, the single bed had an air mattress on it. The parking is super tight! All in all, we had a wonderful time & would visit again.

Hidden Gem

We stayed in the spacious Los Vientos Room, which gave us a great view of the dunes and the beach. Located in an historic mansion, the House of Sea and Sun gives you direct access to the beach, while being close to St. Augustine Beach coffee shops, etc. Breakfast is served in a sun room with nothing but dune and beach views. Kimberly is the proprietor and makes sure you're having a comfortable stay, as well as making a delicious breakfast in the morning.  We've been to a lot of B & Bs - - this one is definitely a keeper. Why stay in town when you can stay at the beach and still have access to everything St. Augustine has to offer?!

Great Beach B & B

This was our 3rd stay at House of Sea and Sun in the past 4 years.  Since our last stay just over a year and half ago, the property has changed management (though still in the same family).  We have stayed in B&B's all over and have come to have certain expectations from a B&B stay vs. a hotel/motel stay.

I am completely understanding that businesses such as H of S & S are just coming off a 2 month hiatus due to social distancing and CVD-19 protocols.  And I did address all of our concerns with the new inn-keeper prior to writing this review.

Breakfast was quite nice.  They have always been very gracious in preparing non-pork items for us.  It was actually a bit elevated from the 2 prior stays.

The linens and pillows in our room were lovely.  However, the rest of the bed left us both seriously contemplating making pallets on the hardwood floor or in the tub (that happens to be right next to the bed).  

First night (Fri), seems there were 2  paying guest rooms occupied in the inn.  But the noise level into the wee hours of the morning was akin to staying at a cheap motel on the strip during Spring Break. We were repeatedly startled awake by banging, doors slamming, loud voices.  Not exactly the rest we were looking for after driving 8 hrs to get there and especially after already being irritated at the uncomfortable bed. 

Second night was much quieter...with all the rooms occupied by paying guests.

Parking is tight and at a premium at the inn.  Though there are signs indicating inn parking only, on Saturday it was apparent there were non-guests taking up spaces.

There were a handful of other items needing attention (overall cleanliness, lightbulbs out etc), that when added up to the bed and noise led to to the decision that we will seek a new "favorite place" next trip.

I did share all of the above with the inn's manager upon her asking for a "rave review" to be left here on TripAdvisor.  Her reply was cordial, thanked me for my thoughtful email, was sorry our trip was not pleasant. She attributed all of my concerns to their not being able to carry out planned renovations this spring with the shut-down.  I will agree that much of the disrepair etc was probably on their "to-do" list.  The noise level of the first night had NOTHING to do with any shut-down or financial issues caused by it.  It was simply disrespect for the people who paid $200/night to stay there.  And the lack of response to that very major issue led me to leave the review here instead of leaving it at just a private conversation.

You be the judge...

We enjoyed our stay at this historic house located right on the beach and close to historic St. Augustine.  Delicious breakfast was served in a breakfast room that overlooks the beach—can’t beat that.  Owners are so friendly & accommodating—they’ve just taken over ownership and have wonderful plans for this B&B.  We look forward to revisiting and seeing  the changes.

Amazing location

We stayed here while attending a cousin family reunion.  I love old houses and this one is beautiful.  Very nice breakfast served every morning. Located facing the ocean and beach. Has convenient parking.  Great place!

Awesome B&B

This gorgeous, historic B&B nestled on the Beachside greets you with tranquility and hospitality as soon as you step through the door. We were greeted by the most friendly staff along with cookies and lemon water. Our rooms were above and beyond what we expected, with seaside views and antiques that we all loved, reminding us of a time gone by when life's pace was a little slower and sweeter. We enjoyed a fireside happy hour with wine, cheese and crackers as we listened to Christmas music and relished each other's company, talking until all hours. Our beds were adorned with gourmet chocolates and a hand written thank you note from the staff, making us feel welcomed and cherished. Breakfast overlooked the sea, and was everything you could ask for and more! We have not been this spoiled in a long time! I highly recommend this B&B, it will provide you with the kind of warm and lasting memories that you will tell and retell to your grandchildren.
