This place is truly a hidden gem! We visited over the long weekend, booked at the last minute, and didn’t know what to expect. The grounds were stunning and very well maintained. Roy, our host, was fantastic—he greeted us warmly upon arrival and even upgraded our room at no extra charge. The room was spacious, spotless, and had the most comfortable bed. The balcony added a touch of charm, making us feel like we were on a European getaway. If you're looking for a European-inspired experience in St. Helena, the Spanish Villa is the ideal spot!

Amazing spot

The name Spanish Villa Inn sounds lovely, but our stay was not.  The biggest concern was safety.  The whole set up of this place was creepy and the fact that the only thing separating us from other guests was a screen.  Anyone could walk into the inn day or night.  And since the owner showed us how to lock our doors from the inside…that seemed weird.  I thought our group of 12 would be here on our own.  The outside furniture was mismatched, old and not taken care of.  Would not come back here…

Wow, where do I begin.  Please accept this review as a warning to not stay here.  We were with a couple from another country who booked this location without, probably, not reading the reviews.
The heater/air conditioning unit was right outside our door in a closet with doors that were flimsy and cheap, so all the noise went right through them.
No internet from the room.  When I asked Roy his response was "some rooms get it and some don't."  Great response Roy.  So glad you were a teacher and not a guest services professional.  Should have never quit your day job.
The bed had a hole in it that I had to sleep around.  Seriously.
The bathroom mat was the smallest I have ever seen.  13 by 18 inches.
Awful

AWFUL.  Outdated, no private television, no internet in our room

I have to be honest I was disappointed. The property itself is beautiful. The interior of the end is old but quaint so I'm not going to complain about it. My room did not have a bathroom in it. The bathroom was about eight feet down the hall and it was only for me but it certainly surprised me. The bathroom itself as well as the bedrooms are very outdated. Breakfast was adequate not outstanding. They had fresh fruit that was nice hard boiled eggs if you like that and some bagels and English muffins but somehow whenever I go to a bed and breakfast I always expect and hope for more

Big disappointment. Main complaint was the musty odor, we paid for 2 nights but left after just 1. Needed to wear mask indoors. Place hasn't been vacuumed in months if not years. No hot water in shower/bath. Outdoor patio was covered in moss, planter was dead, seating was upholstered , not meant for outdoors so soaking wet. Of course no amenities. NOTICE that photos on site are very old.

2021 Big Disappointment

My husband and I stayed at The Spanish Villa Inn for 6 days and 5 nights because of a wedding venue that we attended. Part of those days coincided with the unexpected power shut-off that occurred in St. Helena and the Valley the second week in October. Roy couldn't be more hospitable and concerned for our comfort. My husband and I were appreciative for Roy's concern. We were very flexible. We called part of our stay 'glamping'. The surroundings are beautiful, the Inn is very comfy, the rooms are well appointed and the breakfast was just what we needed. The electricity was finally turned-on Friday at 6:00PM just before we left for the wedding rehearsal dinner. Too late to take a shower and shave; but we made it through the days prior to thanks to being campers!

Roy is the perfect host!

So happy we found this B&B in St. Helena!  The location was perfect for our two day stay in Napa Valley - close enough to the wineries and restaurants and yet off the main strip so the location was peaceful and private.  The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable, breakfast in the morning was fresh and tasty, and we enjoyed a nice bottle of wine outside on the quiet grounds of the property.  Roy and his team did everything to make us feel at home.  We are already talking about our next visit to Napa and staying again at the Spanish Villa Inn!

Great Hospitality!  Great Location!

Not having been to a Bed and Breakfast before, I wasn't sure what to expect. This is a quaint House in a beautiful area of St. Helena. The rooms are private and the beds are very comfortable. The only thing my husband was a little bummed out about was the room not having a t.v. The livingroom in the house did have one. The lady running the place is sweet. Great host!

first b&b I've stayed at.

Looking for a low key and homey place to relax after a long day?  Discover the lovely Spanish Villa Inn.  It's like walking into someone's personal home.  You have a library, a sitting room complete with a grand piano, a dining room and a lovely hostess named Mary who makes the stay totally worthwhile.  This isn't a large corporate facility devoid of personal touches.  It feels more like someone's home, who took the pains to convert this lovely home into a vacation rental for friends.
Some parts are a bit dated, but, that isn't a deterrent.  We would stay here again and again, having discovered it on a recent trip up to St. Helena.  I wish there were a print out on the history of the home, as it would be lovely to know more about this house, the grounds, the family, and how it came to be known as The Spanish Villa.   Clearly, someone put a lot of love and care into the Villa.  And Mary continues this tradition, with her charm and grace.  And do take time for the breakfast.  There's delicious granola, yogurt, bagels, eggs, fruit and fresh brewed coffee.  Perfect for the start of the day!

A Home Away From Home

My husband and I recently spent three nights here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.  The rooms are more than adequate but the strength of the establishment lies in the wonderful, caring natures of Mary, the lady that makes your stay so enjoyable, and Roy, the owner.  The breakfast buffet is delicious.  The fresh fruit, granola, bagels, muffins - all amazing.  A wonderful way to start the day - and all on beautiful china!  I had read about the walls being thin, but it was not a problem for us.  Perhaps it was tied to those travelers spending the night the same time we were there, but the inn was quiet. I certainly could not hear a guest snoring.  Matter-of-fact, if it wasn't for breakfast we would not have met any of the guests - and they were fun, too - all enjoyable aspects to staying at a B&B.  The grounds are simply beautiful and we enjoyed the fact that this property was tucked away a little bit off the beaten path.
