This has very cute little grounds.  The cabins and small and clean.  Parking is right outside your door, which we look for.   The interstate was close, but we never heard it during the night.  No air conditioning in our cabin, but a fan in the window kept it nice and cool.  After all, you are in the mountains.  We felt safe and secure here.  IT is on a dead-end road.  At half what motels are in Missoula, we will definitely stay here again when we are crossing the state.

This little gem is right off the main road.  The owner Linda was so hospitable and a genuine down to earth person.  The room was super comfortable and clean. We staying in the Hummingbird cabin number 11.  Clean, reasonable, and charming!  Great find!

A slice is f Heaven at the Little River Motel

I have been struggling to find something positive to say about the Little River Hotel, the best that I can come up with is the property was clean. 

The cabin that I stayed in could best be described as an early 1950's vintage 2-room motor motel that had seen its best days. The mattresses on the beds are absolutely worn out, with deep depressions and compressed materials making comfortable sleep virtually impossible. With no air-conditioning, and located next to the busy Interstate opening the windows at night cooled the room, however the noise was excessive. Those items that have been updated/added are of poor quality or functioned minimally.

The property in its day was probably a pretty quaint establishment to stay at, at this point it is in need of some serious capital investment to not only update the very basics, but to correct many serious issues with the aging buildings. 

This is a beautiful area of Montana and should be visited. I cannot recommend the Little River Motel, it is over priced, loud and uncomfortable to stay in Missoula, Wallace or another establishment in St Regis. 

Disappointed - Property Overpriced and Needs A lot of Work

The motel is cute and homey and very comfortable. Our hostess, owner Linda Thomas, was the most charming, accommodating and friendly person we’ve met on our journey so far. This trip has taken us through 10 states so far with more to go and we’ve stayed in some upmarket hotels. I wish we could have just stayed here!!  Linda makes you feel like Home and the rooms are decorated with beautiful comforters.

Lovely Place, Lovely Proprietor

I was caught in bad weather coming over Lookout pass into Montana, so stopped for the night in St. Regis. "Siri" sent me to the Little River Motel. I like to support local / family businesses, so I chose it over the Super 8. I arrived over an hour later after I called the hotel and spoke to Linda, letting her know I would stop for dinner before arriving. 
My room #6 was 1 of several units in a old, minimally refurbished trailer, right alongside the freeway. The bathroom floor was like ice. There was a tiny wall heater in it that was off and it did not get warm in there all night. The baseboard heater is the main room was set to 60 degrees (probably to keep pipes from freezing) and with it snowing outside, it was very cold in the room. I was disappointed because she had plenty of time to run over and turn up the heat prior to my arrival.
The bed was hard, the mis-matched bedding was clean, but I used my own blankets. The TV had power but there was no remote and the controls on the TV or connected box did not change channels of appear to pick up service. I called Linda after I arrived around 6:30 pm to ask for the remote. I left a message, but did not receive a call back.
It was so expensive for what they offered. I paid $72.15 for her best price. I got paneling, old furniture, gross carpet, and horrible carpentry. Things falling off the wall; like door frames, and exposed cables running across the room. In hindsight, I should have asked for a refund and kept going to Missoula.
Also, she requested my full credit card info over the phone. She did not want me to come into the office due to Covid, which I understand, but don't think is even legal to take credit cards over the phone anymore. I put a lock on my card as soon as the charge went through (after I saw the room condition).

Last Minute Decision

Road tripping on my motorcycle through Montana on way home to Washington - landed in Missoula on the wrong night (back to College weekend) - no rooms to be found and it was 8:00 p.m. 

Reached out the Little River Motel as my last hope of a pillow/bed - Linda (owner/operator)  was my hero!   She had a cottage come available and would literally keep the lights on until I could get there around 10:30ish p.m...

The property is cared for by a person who loves where she is at - the cottages/motel are cute 1950 creation.   Beautiful trees around it, several spots and a fun garden to relax, un-wind from the road.   

The cottage was fun with the 1950s styling - comfortable bed, plenty of towels, etc. and also a little mini kitchenette (stove/refrigerator/sink/pots/pan, etc.).

This is also a motorcycle aware owner - she had towels in the office ready for wiping off the morning dew that may have collected.  Just awesome.

Just up the street - two local places to get some good comfort food with in 10 -15 minutes of tree lined walk on the old US-10 road (no longer used).

If you are going through Montana - want a place to rest, relax and know you will be taken care of - no matter the time of night when you arrive - you must stop and visit/stay at Linda's Little River Motel ... 

... and if you are lucky, you will see the Elk that come to visit! :)

Montana at its best!

Little motel on the side of the highway. We rented a little cottage with a kitchenette. It was clean but a bit outdated. The bathroom was very small. There was no one there when we checked in. Since we travelled from Canada, we didn't have a phone therefore had to go to the nearest store to call to be able to check in. After haven driven for a lot of hours, it was not the most pleasant thing.

Out-dated

The toilet was in a very narrow room, and one had to go in the room, opening the door all the way and switching on the light after entering.  There is no sink nor running water in that room--the sink and counter are out in the same (small) room where the single bed is.  

Next to the bed in the corner (by door to the toilet) is a shelf that abuts that side of the bed. To avoid waking my wife during an expected need to use the toilet, I slept on that side.  In order to avoid the corners of the shelf, I had to place a pillow between my head and that shelf, further constricting my sleep space.

I-90 is probably within 100 yards, and there was continuous traffic (noisy) all through the night--large trucks, etc.  Our room was #6, which is one of several in what appeared to be a converted 50 - 60 foot metal trailer body.  The long porch for that structure was littered from end to end with pine needles and other residue.

I had stayed there with my parents and siblings more than 70 years ago (first owners) and all 9 of us were comfortable, and welcomed as friends.

Of the seven different motels we occupied on this trip, it was a few cents less than the most expensive one; however, this was the worst of them all--by far.

This is probably the strangest hotel/motel stay I have ever had in 70+ years of traveling in the US, Canada and Mexico.

We stayed in a "romantic cabin," expecting something no frills based on reviews and price, and it actually exceeded our expectations.  Decent sized room.  Pretty good bed.  Lots of outlets.  Dated decor, but what do you expect for a budget motel in Montana?  Really cute metal sculptures in the yard.  Yes, it is right by I-90, but we couldn't hear the traffic at all after closing the window (it was a cold night; on a warmer night, we could have used the provided fan).  One thing that was weird - our cabin had a minifridge, but the cabin my brother and his wife stayed in did not.  We loved Linda, the manager and lady at the front desk.

This is a quaint old Motel where we enjoyed a peaceful night's rest.  Altho it was built in the 1940's, it's clean, well maintained and the hostess, Linda, was very friendly.  There's no frills, but had everything we needed and the Wifi was stronger than the Motel 6 we stayed in the night before.  Coffee and light breakfast was also provided which was an unexpected bonus.  It's right next to I90, but we didn't notice the traffic noise at all. We'd definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a reasonably priced place to stay.
