The only reason I gave this one star is because there was nothing lower. Me and my wife rented a room on 01-17-2018. We got to the room and found it dirty, there were empty bottles in the shower and no remote for the TV. When I finally figured out how to get power to the outlets on the right side of the room and turn the tv and light on that is when the room started to warm up and we noticed cockroaches coming out of the TV. We were in the room less than 45 minutes when my wife called Red Roof Inn and got us another room. When I left they refunded my 100,00 cash deposit but would not refund the 51.51 for the room charge. After several days of calling the manager my wife was finally told they would never refund our money and they had no corporate office to complain too and the owner was out of the country. All I can say is NEVER stay at this hotel.

^^^TRIP ADVISOR*** = This property is now called  AFFINITY INN AND SUITES, it is no longer Americas Best Value Inn (not sure when the change happened)                              I stayed in  room 271 on 12-22-17, here is what I saw = 
NO exterior signage.  My room door had NO number plaque. Poor exterior lighting.  Lounge has been torn down.  Duty desk clerk (2 days, with no training), thought that 271 was a single king, but in fact it was a double queen.   Cigarette butt and sock in nightstand drawer.  NO TV remote.  TV channel selection was limited, and channels had "snow".  Table lamp did not work.  Dirty carpet.  Scuffed furniture.  BLACK MOLD ON BATH CEILING !!!    NO innkeeper law card displayed.  Housekeeper said, since room had shower gel, bar soap would not be given out (I had to beg for 2 bars).  Hot and cold water OK, pressure strong.  NO cups.  Only 1 set of worn towels.  Exterior room doors need painting. NO coat rack to hang garments.  Sheets smelled of tobacco.   If CHEAP owners are doing any renovations, it looks like they will be doing the minimum possible.    RECOMMENDATION = if you have business in Metro Charleston, AND if renovations are NOT completed at this property, you might want to consider staying somewhere else.   If you stay here, ask for a room on the river side, otherwise the trains will wake you up.  Property does NOT offer AAA or AARP discounts.  REALLY DISAPPOINTING STAY (and I have stayed here before when it was an ABVI).

This property is REALLY in need of renovations !

My husband and I are frequent guests of this hotel. About 6 months or so ago we were getting fed up with the lack of management, failure to maintain the property and unsavory characters that were allowed to stay no matter how loud or disruptive they were but then a new General Manager came and immediately we began to see improvements. The new manager, Marquisha Frazier-Davis, has really put effort into putting the business back to rights. Immediately the loud guests were gone, improvements were being made and we again feel that it is a safe place to stay. Marquisha has surrounded herself with great, friendly staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that wants a pleasant place to stay. It is situated on the bank of the Kanawha river, with restaurants and attractions within minutes. When you check in say "hey" to Marquisha and let her know about your stay. She Cares. It is an older hotel with older hotel issues but she is constantly making improvements and we are looking forward to seeing just how nice she going to make it. When you check in you will find the staff friendly especially Sarah who works during the day.

Have used this hotel frequently for several years, seeing much improvemant lately
