We’ve stayed at the Wayside a few years ago, still the same top notch standard of cleanliness. The room was neat and super clean. Simple amenities, coffee maker, microwave, fridge and tv. The shower was nice and hot! We love patronizing family owned businesses and not the hotel chains. The office staff is always friendly. Thank you Wayside for exceptional service.

Clean and Simple

We did a last minute booking in-route and the reviews were decent. This is a simple place with a nice bed, shower works well and it’s very clean. The grounds are well kept and the outside looks nice. Location is handy for the ferry and you can buy a ferry ticket when you check in. 

Nice place

Very nice. Place was very clean and the grounds were well kept. Can tell the owners have worked hard to provide a great stay and it’s reflected. Gentleman checking us in was polite and friendly. Will definitely stay here again as we only stayed one night on the way to Lake Superior.

Very clean!

We were pleasantly surprised with our stay at this location. We needed a place to stay on a road trip and we love to stay at smaller motels. The room was spotless. We did not have any issues. I would stay here again.

Great Stay

Stayed here based on other reviews, price, and location (in that order). Stay was two nights. Owner handled check-in. Friendly and quick. You park right outside your room, which is great! The room furniture was a bit dated but everything was spotlessly clean. Bathroom was recently updated (shower, sink, toilet, lights, fixtures) and painted. Easy walk to downtown. On Saturday night the city has fireworks in the harbor. We were able to see them from the motel parking lot. Due to my forgetting what day it was (my brain was on vacation time) I neglected to check out on Sunday. The owner called me and went out of his way to try to find another room for us as they were full that night. He also did not charge me for late checkout, although I offered to pay. I will be staying here again the next time I'm in the St. Ignace area!
This review is for room 101, which is closest to the road. This made it a bit loud for my taste, but that is not a reflection on the facility or management.

Pleasant surprise - stay here!

We found our room to be spotless with a flawless paint job immaculately applied in both the main room and the bathroom.  The bed and bedding were comfortable.  Parking was right outside our room.  Our room was the one closest to the highway in the picture you see here but we were able to sleep with our window open and enjoy the fresh air as the traffic died off after dark.  If you're looking for trendy, this probably isn't for you.  But, if you just need decent and clean basics at a reasonable price, this will work.

A good stay!

My husband and I decided to take a last-minute trip to the Upper Peninsula and we were a little concerned with what lodging would be available on a weekend in St. Ignace.  I can't recommend the Wayside Motel enough!  The staff are very polite/ professional and the rooms were immaculate.  If you are looking for a great price, great location and clean place to stay in St. Ignace, MI, this is the place you are looking for.  We will be back!

What an awesome motel!

This place was very nice! Park right outside your room. Could use a little TLC on the outside...but you don't stay outside!  The inside was beautiful. The rooms have been updated.  I wish my bathroom at home was as nice as the one here! :)
Definitely would stay again.  Check in was great and safe. The lady was very nice.

My husband and our friends made a quick UP trip.  The husbands on their motorcycles (quiet bikes) and we wives in the car as the support vehicle.  When we arrived to check in, the sweet woman at the counter was preparing some towels to give to us and they looked clean, but a bit old and weary.  My friend and I were both thinking, "hmmmm, are these our towels?" They were for the guys to wipe down their bikes!  How cool is that!
It was a lovely place to call home base for two nights.  My husband and I are usually camping when we head north, but our friends not so much.  We wanted something simple, but clean and not too pricey.  This was it!  The bed was comfy. The shower was lovely.  The bathroom cheery.  We will stay here again!

Perfect!

Very friendly check-in, fast and easy. Park right outside your room to easily unload luggage.  The room was absolutely spotless. very impressed.  Nothing fancy here, a bit dated (bedspreads esp.). But again, perfect for a one night stay!  We will be back!
