Really really great bar/lounge area. Reasonable drinks and wine.  Great small plates. Excellent flavor and value. We are locals and it is always  nice to sit and relax in a quaint setting not necessarily geared to seasonal tourists. Local musical entertainment was just right that you can have a conversation. 

We will be back to just chill with wine and listen to the music.

Newly redecorated boutique style hotel. Just  reopened after 3 year renovation. Each room individually decorated with high end appointments including fabulous linens. Bar/lounge is lively with live music on the weekends. Best accommodations in the area including the Mackinac island. I would stay here rather than the island.

This is a stellar hotel - totally re-furnished and designed with modern everything and fabulous decor (current pictures are pre renovation). 
The rooms are individually designed, with Frette bedding and sumptuous couches, chairs, artwork, as well as small touches to make it feel like home - but better!
The Fireworx Bar in the lobby is fantastic…great small bites and drinks, luxurious and inventive design that attracts locals as well as visitors.
Five star experience - kudos to proprietors Rene and Charlie Chiara, for creating this gem in the Upper Peninsula (location - across from Mackinac Island). Lovely!

Gem in the Upper Peninsula

Thoroughly enjoyed an early evening cocktail and appetizers at this beautifully renovated lounge.    The Boardwalk had been an empty building for years   Thanks to new owners it has become a real gem. We were seated in a corner nook designed to feel like being in a living room. Comfortable furnishings and a gorgeous view of Lake Huron made it hard to leave.  Drinks were reasonably priced.  They offered a variety of very tasty appetizers.  Staff were welcoming and attentive. Overall great vibe! We will definitely be back

Great vibe in a beautifully renovated hotel lounge

I love this place, the owners are right on-premises and do everything so be patient when you call, they will call you back. They even called us after we checked out to tell our friends about some items left in their rooms. Who does that nowadays? Nobody...They are so nice and polite and will try to make everything perfect for you. If you get a room near the front, you will have views of the Lake, rooms at the back will be quieter. We had room 12, which was one of 2 two-bedroom suites. The 2nd BR is very small but no problem, the main BR is HUGE; with a sofa and a gathering table. All rooms are super clean and so cute; quaintly dated but not old. Read the other reviews and book with them. It feels like home. No frills, no microwave or fridge in the rooms, no phones in the rooms but free wi-fi and free relaxation and peace.

That warm cozy feeling like staying at your grandma's house

A great mom and pop place.  The owners were incredibly polite.  The location is close to many shops and restaurants.  
Two small pieces of advice though.  One, It may not be ideal for people with mobility challenges.  They have small thin staircases with no elevator.  It was fine for us but may be tough on older visitors.  Secondly, try to get a room away from the road if you’re concerned about noise. While our room was spacious and beautiful it was next to the road.  We were surprised how much traffic continued throughout the night on that road.  Other visitors with rooms on the inside told us that they couldn’t hear anything.  Again it wasn’t a big deal for us but just something to note. 
All in all it is a beautiful place in a good location near the piers and shops and run by nice people.  We would gladly come back again. 

Great location. Friendly owners.  

This is an older 12 room hotel located right in the middle of downtown.  The owners were very nice and friendly.  They do make it clear there is no elevator in the building. Everything was older but clean and cared for.  Some people might find a stay there nostalgic fun.  The biggest downside to me was the loud motorcycle traffic on a  Saturday evening that went well into the night.  You are right on the main road and will hear the noise.

After a long day of driving I was looking for a place to eat before camping for the evening. After dining I went for a walk and came across Boardwalk Inn. I met Kayla at the front desk and we hit it off almost immediately. She is very knowledgeable of local history and current landmarks. 
The room available for my stay was perfect.
From the the size to the amenities, everything functioned within my tolerances. 
Super clean and organized.
My single night experience was remarkable in the rest I got.
I am very happy to have come across Boardwalk Inn and decided to stay instead of camping. 



Peaceful sojourn at the end of a long day.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights.  When we walked in the front door we were in awe at the beautiful woodwork of yesteryear!  The gentleman behind the counter was very polite and explained all amenities well.  There isn’t a elevator here, beautiful stairs though.  The room was VERY CLEAN!  Very impressed with the “Daisy” room.  Bed was comfortable, room quiet, bathroom sufficient.  Any local questions we had were quickly answered with enthusiasm.  Room was cleaned perfectly every day.  If we return to this area we will definitely stay here.  Very reasonably priced compared to big chain and other bed breakfasts.  

Old school cool!!!

Nice quaint little place right on the main street. My girlfriend and I shared the suite on the 3rd floor that had a bedroom and bathroom facilities for each of us.  It was quiet, the owners were friendly and the place was really clean.  I would definitely stay here again. My only issue was I wish they would offer a wider variety for breakfast food such as yogurt, fresh fruit, etc...
