This was our first stay at Sunset Motel. I must first say that the landscaping is Beautiful!  The flowers are so pretty. Our room, a double queen, was great. It was a surprise that one of the beds was in a separate room. It was VERY, VERY CLEAN, which I look for most in a place to stay. There were 3 adults in our room. The space was fine. The staff that we interacted with were all very nice and helpful.  The only two very small things I will say, and they are not a big negatives, are that the shower is very small and I personally wished it had a place to sit other than on the bed. We appreciated the TV trays they came in very handy. Maybe add a folding chair or two as well. We stayed here for 5 nights and made day trips to places in the beautiful upper peninsula of Michigan.  We will most definitely stay here again.  This will probably be our go to spot!  Thanks again Sunset Motel!! 

Awesome! Our new go to place to stay! 

How did I not know about this delightful motel sooner?!? I was searching for places to stay in St. Ignace, but didn’t want to break the bank. I came across reviews for this place, and was pleasantly surprised at how many positive comments I read. After considering all of our options, I decided to take a chance and book two nights here. I can happily say we had no regrets!! The room had everything we needed, and Theresa was wonderful when we checked in. While the bathroom is a little on the small side, it was sufficient — even the small shower — for my 6’ tall husband and me. There was no breakfast included, but that was fine since we already had a couple places we wanted to go (having stayed in St. Ignace before). We felt safe staying here, and enjoyed the extra special touch of so many beautiful flowers all around the motel! The fact that they were so vibrant and abundant, even in mid-October, amazed me. The Sunset Motel will definitely be our go-to place to stay whenever we are in St. Ignace. Wow!

Sunset Motel…don’t hesitate to stay here!

The rooms are small, but well furnished.  We booked 2 rooms as we were 3 adults traveling together.  We enjoyed having two bathrooms and separate sleeping areas at a good price.

Most motels in the area have lousy free coffee in the lobby.  The Sunset Motel has single-serve Keurig coffee makers in each room.  Praise the Lord!

We ate dinner at Johnnie's on 2 next door.  The side salad that came with our meal was huge!  Everyone was happy with their meals.

A Solid Choice in St. Ignace

Clean, comfortable, well maintained rooms and grounds. Owners are onsite, and available to assist. Traffic on US2 can be loud, but we used the fan for white noise so it wasn't a problem. Great alternative to the chain motels.

Gateway stop on trip to UP.

The flowers at the motel are beautiful. The rooms are knotty pine and adorable. Everything was very clean. The shower is small but adequate. The managers and staff are friendly and accommodating. This mom and pop motel is a bang for your bucks. Highly recommend.

A Bang for Your Bucks

When ever my wife and I are up in St Ignace area and need a place to stay, we always stay here at this "gem of the north" motel. Room are clean and affordable. The landscape outside is breathtaking. These people have worked hard to make this a great motel.

Great Motel

Friendly and helpful welcome from owner and staff. Clean,comfortable and retro attractive room with up to date conveniences. Fun stay with flavor of staying in a 1960s motor motel. Great recommendations for local restaurants and St. lgnace viewing.

Comfortable stay

Not sure what to expect when reserving a motel, but the Sunset did not disappoint. If you’re into stepping back in time a few decades, then you’ll like the great condition of the knotty pibe through the walls and ceiling.  First thought is a quaint, clean, and comfortable room with clean bathroom. Water pressure is very good and hot water never fades. Beds are comfortable and the room comes equipped with a good size flat screen cable tv, Wi-Fi, refrig, microwave, and AC. Floor planks appear to have been recently installed with a matching pattern. People at the front desk are a young couple that greet you with a smile and friendliness. 

If you’re looking for good food with a long list of micro brews, next door to the Sunset is Johnny’s on 2 restaurant. The baby back barbecue ribs are the absolute best!

Quaint, Comfortable, Clean

Wonderful quaint motel, exceptionally clean, very friendly owner/host.  Walking distance to local pub for dinner.   We were traveling with our camper and boat, owner saved us room to park in the front. Definitely recommend.

Exceptional motel!

This is a gem of a motel close to the charming town of St. Ignace. The rooms are terrific and accommodate a small family or couple. The hosts, Armand and Sara are equally gracious, and made sure our quick visit offered all the comforts of home.Top marks for cleanliness, modern updates to the rooms, and double-top marks for the incredible gardens on the grounds...wow! We really enjoyed being a few meters off the 'main drag' of hotels and motels in downtown St. Ignace and yet only minutes from key attractions like the bridge view and Marquette memorial.
